    It's incredible how quickly lichens grow on rocks. A tombstone might not even be a year old before lichens begin growing on it

    What's the effect of CO2 on lychen? Looking at rooftiles it seems there's more of it today than 40 years ago (NW Europe)

    i went to look at evergreen college while it was being constructed, when i was 18 and looking for a 4 year college.ecology was very new and i was interested.my parents however wanted me to go to our own junior college. i studied horticultre there.this is good video.would like to see one that goes into more detail about the chemical breakdown of rock.thank you!

    I had a few freinds who attended E.S.C. as I lived in Olympia for awhile in the 90s. Beautiful place. I was made most curious by the lichen breaking down rock also. ☺

    When I go to the mountains/forest nearby, I enjoy the lichens and the different mosses. The fresh air is a wonderful blessing to me.

    I would like to know, if anybody knows, can lichens be kept as ‘air plants’ houseplants? Is it possible to mimic conditions, has anyone ever done this? Thanks

    "Local Green space". I guess I'm too old...we called it our backyard, or the woods... maybe I can morph into a Lichen and exit humanity, which I suspect many do at times.

    If you have a backyard or a nearby woods, then that's great! If you live in an apartment (like I do), then "green space" is a better description (usually a local park, for me).
