What's surprising about Statham is his comedic timing. He was in that awful spy comedy with Melissa McCarthy and he was the only good thing about it.

Statham wears custom shoes to give him an extra two inches in height. He does tell the camera crew to shoot him at an angle where he looks taller onscreen. A buddy of mine worked as a photographer for the last fast and furious movie and said Statham would always approach him to make sure he looked taller on the scenes.

Statham just sounds like a perfectionist that knows exactly what he wants and accepts nothing less. Given that the number of hits on his filmography far outweigh the number of misses, I'd say it's payed off.

@@axelstone3131 I don't know. I don't find any of it particularly unusual, fantastical, or scandalous. Most big-name actors make demands that we "regular folk" might find silly and unreasonable. I remember reading that Statham, Vin Diesel, and Dwayne Johnson all had a limit on how many punches they could receive from each other during fight sequences written into their contracts. It's just a part of how the game is played.

Jason Statham is focused. I highly doubt any of the action stars are difficult . I'm retired and I live now on the East Coast and continue doing Background talent on some films and Independent Films. Me and my wife Laura do Films for fun and nothing more. For example Jean Claud Van Damme throwing a fit on some sets does not make him bipolar on all sets or in real life. It just shows their frustration and they have earned their right to be perfectionists. I'm intrigued by the Viking Samurai and what he puts out on his channels. My Uncle who lived in Los Angeles was a stuntman and worked on many action films. This afforded me and my younger brother to work as Background Talent and be on many Action Film Sets and see many Action Film stars rise or fall into obscurity. All I know is these Action Stars are good peeps and I have personally seen them as determined, hardworking and focused. I have never seen any of them not apologize for their outbursts so far, heck everyone on a set can have a bad day.

I’ve directed a bunch of shorts with my friends and stuff and when it comes to crew i only use people i go to film school with for obvious reasons. I will say that it is harder to direct yourself doing anything that’s not action because you’ll be open to suggestions from your peers but it is ultimately what YOU want. So it’s hard bc you need to really co direct those moments bc you can’t see yourself until it’s over which takes more time. So I usually get my dp to help me on my performance since i know he directs too. I also realize that i spend all my time worrying about every other aspect that i dob’t give my performance the time it needs so I usually am the worst part. And granted im not a good actor to begin with but it just adds a layer of stress

Only met Statham once & would like to fight him in a film (I should be Barney's/Sly's long lost illegitimate son he didn't know about if they do Expendables 5), but it was first day of Crank 2 I got there early & was walking up..he just happened to pop out of a trailer and awareness noticed me off to his right right away a good 30 yards away..he came directly up, saw my UFC shirt, and started chatting about Bas Rutten & MMA etc. Time for the first fight scene, he did yell and take control of the entire situation right away and made it his own choreography. I had actually gotten snapped out by stunt coordinator a few minutes earlier "Cut that shit out!" because this buff stunt woman said she did wing chun, I took up a Wing Chun stance and we no shit had a real trapping fight for a good few seconds when she really attacked me (I told the story in my 3 Crazy Wing Chun stories video)! He is skilled-(Real skilled Diver, trained in Krav Maga & with Bas-Purple Belt possibly now Brown Belt in BJJ-sold fake Rolex's out of his coat lol), and maybe him setting the tone he was in charge, at least as far as fight scenes, I am not against. Tiring action that doesn't flow like the movies, no defining moment like the movies. Just chaos and noise. Unlike the way Statham fights go where each bad guy takes their turn to respectfully hit him. The. Bank Job was the movie I noticed he couldn't act to save his life. He can't cry.
