Why is Geely The Next Big Thing? | Special Feature

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Find out why Geely is the next big thing as we showcase features, tech, build quality and driving dynamics of their automobiles.
How can a relatively new manufacturer make a name for themselves, given all the established manufacturers out there? It goes without saying that their products have to be nothing short of remarkable. I've driven all the models that Geely offers here in the Philippines, namely the Coolray, Okavango and Azkarra. I can honestly say that they offer all the qualities you would come to expect from vehicles that even cost twice as much. However, there are still skeptics due to the fact some consumers tend to dismiss the brand solely based on its place of origin; China. But despite that, I'm willing to bet that the brand will soon be widely accepted, as they start expanding globally.
Get to hear from fellow gearheads, Kyle Liong from Kyle Liong Car reviews and Diego Dela Cruz from Carspiration to see why Geely is such a promising brand.

I agree.. Coolray is so fun, better driving than most sedans available here in Ph..Not to mention it has some utilitarian aspects too..So fast and so agile, you get that at only 1.1 m, wow.. If Geely would succeed here in Ph and decides to bring more of their cars here in maybe next 5 yrs, Im gettin another one😃..

Nice video Sir Wess 😊👍 The only thing remaining for Geely, and for all other Chinese car brands, is to eventually prove its vehicles' long-term reliability and durability. I hope so primarily for the benefit of the consumers 😊

Previously owned honda civic, ford fiesta, subaru xv and now suzuki vitara and geely okavango urban plus. This geely amazed me from driving dynamics and very good engine power plus good tech features like the audio system can play flac/losseless file system and it is soo good for audiophiles like me. Also, 100% led front to back so kudos to Geely! Hope that they got to bring more variants in PH. Love it!

I've been driving my Okavango for a few months now and it's been a pleasure every darn time! Geely just needs to prove its reliability and availability of parts for repairs. All owner reviews that I've seen in car groups have been overwhelmingly positive UNTIL they get into an accident and a part needs to be replaced --- which sometimes takes 3-4 months to be available.

The first Geelys in the local market, the Panda hatchback, didn't make a noise when it comes to sales and recognition. The Volvo engine and 5-star safety standards made todays Geely a very choice and easily entered the top 10 best selling brands in the Philippines. Looking at used Geely cars for sale in the middle east and seeing them having 80,000 to 100,000+ km in the odometer and still in good condition says something about its durability.

Sir, please name names. Like what mr. Liong said about knowing some japanese brands and china made euro brands who squeaks and rattles. We, as consumers does not have the luxury of test driving every single cars, like you do. So, it would be a great help if you can provide us with brands who have those kinds of problems.

Here's what we need to understand why most filipino are skeptical in trying new brands such as geely 1. Most car consumers fall within the middle income bracket, and unlike our western counterpart who earnes more and has a greater purchasing power, we really cant afford to go wrong in a big ticket items such as buying a car 2. Warranties only cover portion of defective parts. They do not cover cost attributed to the car owner not being able to use that car due to warranty claims. Example of those expense is transportation fee. 3. Given that chinese cars are still in the maturing phase just like hyundai back in the early 2000's, do you really want to be on the shorter end of the stick buying cars that are still work in progress? 4. If you look at the domestic market in china and try to ask around if they truly trust their local brand. You might be shocked that they dont. Usually people who has the spending capacity in china opt for german brands. The only reason why some locals buy chinese brand is for their daily workforce use and is expected to be discarded after their useful life

For those owners of Geely brands, good luck and I hope you will enjoy it while it last. For me, I will not jump to the bandwagon yet because it is not a matured platform yet. Durability and reliability cannot be compared yet to Toyota and Honda. Also, try to think the cost of battery replacement for the mild hybrid and the would be accelerated wear and tear on the engine due to auto stop/start function. For me low price and good looks are not the primary factors for my decision. The proven platform, durability, reliability, resale value and cost of ownership are the most important factors. At this point of time, I don't think a Chinese made cars have better resale value compared to Japanese made cars. This has been the case with the Korean cars before when their platform is new in the market. However Korean cars resale value appreciated when theirs brands became proven and reliable. Just a personal opinion from a normal car owner.

Japawow! Toyota nambawan! If you worry about depreciation that much, you should stick to buying used. The problem mainly with non-japanese brands is the local availability of spare parts for major components. The only reason why Toyota has so much aftermarket and OEM parts available in the market is because of this mentality that Japanese cars are reliable and durable. That mentality fuels demand for Japanese cars and its spare parts. While it's easier to maintain Japanese cars due to spare parts availability, it doesn't mean that the product itself is excellent in other aspects. Our family had a Hyundai Excel back in the late 90's where Korean cars are treated like how the Chinese cars are treated today. Look at where Hyundai and Kia are now. The Hyundai was replaced by the all-mighty Vios. However, the ride quality and unpleasant five-year experience with the vehicle forever made my wife hate Toyota in general. We also bought a used Nissan Sentra LEC as a secondary car after we acquired the Vios. Guess what, we preferred the older Sentra. Not everything is about durability and resale value. Eventually parts availability will decline as the car ages, that's why I had to let go of the Sentra. Now, we wouldn't even consider Toyota at all. We don't like the exterior and interior from the Japanese offerings, I recently tested several options at the 1M-1.8M mark. I'm looking at sedans and crossovers, in particular. In all honesty, I wasn't impressed by the Japanese offerings. The Korean's aren't making much noise in that price bracket recently, which led me to consider the Chinese offerings. So far, I'm impressed, with a few model specific caveats. We currently have a Korean sedan and crossover as well as a Japanese SUV, which is not a Toyota, in our garage. I'm currently looking for a fourth car, which will most probably be a Chinese make. A wise man once told me, if you worry about cost of ownership for a car, you can't afford it.

But how it is when it have many miles of many years. only Toyota & Honda have proof it!! Because how more electric stuff when it damage when it is older than cost many money. So better basic car. The engine in longterm is the most important that it still works!! Look to Scotty at youtube than you know what car you can drive longtime Toyota & Honda.

We all know the big brands but there's nothing wrong with trying. Ofc the oldies like Scotty will recommend Toyota. Toyota has been in the industry for so many decades yet I found many things that I love when I drive Geely cars, you will never know until you try. Geely is very promising.
