Hindu Gods/Goddesses are not people. The icons depict attributes not humans. Even though the iconography suggests family, children etc - these are not to be taken as a literal interpretation. Instead think of them as representations of the absolute(Brahman) and the iconography gets clearer. Ganesha is God(representation) of Knowledge (elephant head since ancient Hindus thought the elephant had immense knowledge and memory within their giant heads). Ganesha is God of auspicious beginning. You need knowledge before beginning on any new venture hence a prayer to Ganesha is customary before starting something new. Ganesha rides the Mouse - The mouse is a representation of the unsteady mind with numerous thoughts clouding our judgement. The mouse also naturally seeks the dark corners just as our mind falls into dark crevices of mental illnesses such as depression. By riding the mouse, Ganesha seemingly has attained mastery over the mouse - enough to ride one(imagine that!). This implies that with Knowledge and Enlightenment (Ganesha) the devotee can calm the mind and get rid of dark thoughts. Ganesha’s consorts(NOT wives!) are Siddhi(Attainment of perfection), Buddhi(Intelligence and enlightenment), Riddhi(Prosperity). The interpretation is that Ganesha has attained and is always with perfection, intelligence, enlightenment(the elephant is thought of as having these attributes) and prosperity (his portly belly and lots of FOOD). Praying to Ganesha thus means the devotee desires to attain the above attributes and is seeking the blessings and strength from Ganesha for this. All the mythological stories in Puranas were later additions to introduce and teach children and beginning seekers morals and attributes in a fun and engaging way. The advanced spiritual seekers know that they are using the iconography of Ganesha to focus the mind to achieve Knowledge and Enlightenment. Also, he is cute and is one of the most famous icons of Hinduism and many all over the world from various traditions are drawn to the power of his image.

Vishnu Bhagwaan's wife is Adi Shakti Mahalaxmi whose three forms are Shri, Bhu and Durga/Nila. Mahalaxmi is Trigunamayi( Containing three gunas) and these three devis are the expression of her three gunas. Shri is Sattva guna, Bhu is Raja guna and Durga is Tamas guna. In all these three forms, Maiya Laxmi is present with my Papa. Ultimately, there is no clear definition or manifestation of Adi Shakti, the Divine Feminine. She pervades and cuts through all forms and beings.

So don't equate us mén with Supreme God Vishnu because Lord Vishnu is the God, he is a genderless entity who creates the manifestations of his own energy, which are known as Lakshmi, Sridevi and Bhudevi as his consort. Thanks for this video. Also we must not forget that we had Draupadi who had five husbands because she had asked for a boon and that was granted. In our culture, there are many diff cultures where you can have more husbands as well as more wives. So our culture isn't backward or orthodox but spiritual and evolving. Which many people can't digest or understand but I'll always be grateful for having been born in a Vedic/ Sanatan home.

देखो भाई भले ही द्रौपदी के 5 पति थे पर वो उन सभी के साथ उस तरह का जीवन नही जीती थी जिस तरह का जीवन एक polygamy करने वाला पुरुष जीता था । वह अपने 1 पति के साथ 1 वर्ष बिताकर ही दूसरे पति के साथ रह सकती थी । और द्रौपदी को कर्ण ने 5 पति होने की वजह से उसे वैश्या ( sex worker) कहा था तो यह कहा की समानता और न्याय है।

I just gave an example that we have had women marrying multiple men and men marrying multiple women. Her 5 husbands also had wives, were they called lusty? No. Simple as that. Think properly about what I'm trying to imply. Of course in Vedas and shastras it's majorly advised for monogamy but under the supervision of sages and saints, one can perform polygamy for a purpose. I tried meditating today and 5 minutes in it i felt like i was rotating sitting on the bed but i could feel sitting still and my body rotating in the same position and then i felt fear and my cat came in the room and i opened my eyes in shock. Brother I worship Hanuman ji and also SuryaDevta. I do suryachalisa daily. I automatically got attracted to Suryadevta and when I know least about him is there any contradiction worshiping two together last week I first time visited the shani mandir and I felt a strong attraction with the ShaniDev's murti I can't stop looking or going near it. This has been something I have been explained since I was a kid. That they dont literally mean two wives but gunas that one should have in a person. One thing which always confused me, is if the literal meaning is preventing the person from looking beyond, why not use different story telling rather than 2 wives? If people in this time relate to stuff differently, shouldnt we evolve the conveying matter so that present time people relate to it easier? Sometimes i feel when we see female forms representing feminine and male as masculine, we forget that both feminine and masculine qualities exist in a person.

Shri Krishna married 16000 women...the real reason behind this was that...those 1600 women were kidnapped by a demon but Shri Krishna saved them by killing him..later he asked all the women to go back to their village but they knew that if they do so they will be questioned.. people will raise questions on their purity...so they asked Shri Krishna to marry them otherwise they will end their life as nobody else will,..so Shri Krishna agreed to maary them and hence he didn't let any of them to get disrespected and ashamed...bhagwan ne unka samman bachana ke liye aisa kiya tha...taaki wo sab apni puri zindagi samman ke sath ji sake 🙏🙏

That's really a great explanation understood 🙏 ...But I have one doubt even if all these are stories made to understand it spiritually then why we don't have concept or stories of multiple husbands for devis? Why devi's (female gods) can't have multiple husbands for giving hidden spiritual teachings?

Good explanation- just some minor corrections like Valli’s name Parvati is Sati, Uma, Gauri, Kali, Durga and many others. Similarly Siva is Rudra, Kaala, Bhairava and many others. While these are all aspects of Siva and Parvati, they are essentially one couple. Similarly Sridevi and Bhudevi are just 2 aspects of Lakshmi while Narayana and Vasudeva are 2 aspects of Vishnu. We visualize the aspects of Lakshmi separately and hence view them as separate wives of Vishnu, but don’t do the other way around as it is socially embarrassing. And all of them are aspects of the duality of Prakrithi and Purusha who are just 2 aspects of the unified Paramatma who is the ultimate divinity 🙏🙏

We don't view it the other way around because Sridevi and Bhudevi are just two aspects of Lakshmi, while Narayana and Vasudeva are two names of Lord Vishnu, not two separate gods. Lord Sri Krishna is called Vasudeva, and Lord Narayana is the original cosmic form of Lord Sri Krishna. That's why we visualize the aspects of Lakshmi separately; hence, we don't have to view them as separate wives of Vishnu because Vishnu is an omnipresent entity. Lord Vishnu's wives are his Shakti themselves. Lord Vishnu is not a man, nor a female; he is the creator of all males and females, irrespective of species in the universe. If you knew that fact, then I don't think you would ever feel bad about seeing the all-pervasive nature of Lord Vishnu. All the consorts of Vishnu are aspects of the duality of Prakrithi and Adi-Purusha, who are just two aspects of the same one unified Narayana, i.e., Paramatma, who is the ultimate divinity, also known as Parabrahm. Understand?
