    my shibas (yes, i’ve got two now🙈) are crazy about outdoors and showing extreme amount of annoyance when we have to work or stay inside etc. Company and a body (dog) helps tho!

    Great video! Guess it depends on the individual. My Shiba cannot get enough of the outdoors.

    All my shibe wants is spending time outside. Even when he is staying home, he must have access to the windows/balcony/terrace at any time so he can observe what’s going on on the streets. Usually a breeder knows which pup is going to be high/low energy. At least ours warned me from the start that my will grow up to be extremely hyperactive; and she was right 😵‍💫 I’ve never witnessed him getting tired outside our home 🥵 But just like yours, mine is also not really affectionate. He comes for cuddles in the morning only. And although at times I wish he wanted more I still would never trade it for a dog that must stay by your side all day every day. Independence is probably one of the most valuable traits shiba has to offer ❤

    I miss our Shiba. He lived to be 18.5 years old. Aoki looks like a wonderful boy! They’re great dogs but they aren’t for everyone.

    My previous dog was a husky, I loved Gusya and still think huskies are prettiest breed in the world but decided to get shiba instead. It’s slightly better (she’s interested in our company enough to not escape at the first chance) but… Shepards are superior even if not trained properly. 😢😅

    I love our tiny Shiba female. We are lucky that she looks really cute. But what I do not like is her barking a lot on children and people. Not everytime now, but still too often, especially in places she knows. If I fix that and a bit better recall, I might have a perfect dog (except she is too small to hold in sleep on the bed).

    Hi, catching up with all the videos gradually 💖, love to see the content of this channel 🌠 Don't give up on a shiba being high energy, cooperates very well, a morning dog and maybe even cuddly... It depends very much on the individual. My shiba Eiko is the highest energy dog i shared live with, even compared to my belgian shepherd. Skip her long walks for a few days and you will feel the build up energy in her. My friends can barely handle her for a weekend when they keep her for us very occasionally 😆: while she always behaves, they feel the expectation of more. And the newcomer puppy Mio seems to be even higher energy than she is. I actually asked for the higher energy girl. When it comes to camping and traveling, Eiko loves it. She adjusts to our lifestyle, because we're fairly active, taking our dogs everywhere anytime. Cuddly, for Eiko, same as Aoki. It's ok for me, i respect her nature and i appreciate so much more when she grants me the cuddle moments But Mio (only two days with us though, three months age), she's so ok with being touched and handled overall, she's asking for cuddles, kisses us from time to time, let's see how this evolves, it's surprising to us. However she protests as soon as she deems something is restricting or forcing her (as any shiba 😅). Eiko cooperates really well, even in compare to my belgian shepherd (high will to please), the catch with her is to ALWAYS honor the deal you made with her, and it works including for offleash and recall. Hopefully she'll be a good role model for Mio 🤞

    Has Aoki been neutered? I have heard that this can play a role at least in female Shiba Inus - that they become a bit lazier ^^

    Yes, he is neutered! I also heard this about neutered dogs but I know some who are that are less lazy than Aoki 😭

    oh no i am so sorry to hear that 😪 I am also considering getting a male Shiba inu for a long time. And i also love to go hiking (live in austria ⛰) Of course it is a pity if the dog is not always so keen on it.🥲 @@aokiandanais

    Wow, I'm amazed that you said by your second year is when he got that way. My Shiba was a completely different experience. The first day I got him which I live on my own. He was literally sleeping right next to the bed on the floor by the end of the first week. He was next to me in my bed but I can relate that in the beginning I did take him a while to want to be pet very frequently. It's not that he didn't like it when I first got him at eight weeks it's just that all he cared about was play play play play play. I've had many people tell me that my Shiba is more like a golden retriever than Shiva because this guy has energy starting at noon all the way to 9 o'clock. Granted he is a year and a half. Honestly, every Shiva is different. some love everyone some hate everyone someone nothing to do with you and someone want everything to do with you. I feel like I'm just lucky that mine loves. Everyone loves every dog loves the cuddle doesn't bark and is absolutely not aggressive and super chill but his energy needs are quite still high.

    i spent a very long time not wanting a dog (mostly because my lifestyle didnt allow for one).... after a few years of loneliness and recognition that i need a companion, i changed my mind.... i've settled down a little bit and have finally come to a place where a dog would be rather good to have. i recently started work as a dog groomer, and it just feels right. i've spent a good deal of time studying different breeds, and comparing how they are at work and i've decided that a Shiba feels right for me. i always loved the idea of a husky, but thats just. too much dog. i *adore* cats, and have always had them, and having a dog that is mildly catlike feels so good. I'm going to be researching and speaking to some local breeders to begin the process, and spending the next year or two readying my lifestyle for a pup. I'm so excited to begin this chapter! thank you and thank aoki for being so awesome and sharing your story.

    do they require a lot of maintenance? shedding?

  • @roguetheotter

    @roguetheotter

    Ай бұрын

    @@laurencel.7980 mildly. they do need routine de-shed's and brushing, and a bath every month or so just to keep them from getting impacted. like most double coated dogs, they shed out their inner coat at the changing of the seasons. but they don't need to be cut or shaved like many other dogs do.

    My sheebs is a morning dog, and I’m not, so I have the opposite issue lol. He’s a rescue, so I don’t know a lot about his earlier life, but I still wouldn’t trade him. He’s surprisingly affectionate, and I consider that a massive win.

    Shibas are terrible dogs from my experience. Too aggressive & flat out dangerous towards other animals.
