Thank you for this video!

I don’t know if I’m the only person here that thinks like this but I’ve noticed that I’m subscribed to WAY too many channels that I don’t even watch. People nowadays subscribe, or follow something just because of one thing, which causes people to procrastinate on KZread and mindlessly scroll due and because of that, the algorithm over saturates yourself into watching channels you really don’t truly desire to consume by. And that’s the cool thing about KZread. Everything 90% is content based. All the other social media apps is 90% of “hey look at me, look how better my life is than yours.” Idk if this is just me, does anyone else feel this way?

@@metalrockstarizer89 I just stopped subscriptions that send new vids too often, and even unrelated video-makers who post a vid with 1 bit from someone's real video. I ma sorry, because i really would like to support them. If it was not so imposing. We'd watch less if we had to search for what we wanted ourselves. That was good at the beginning, before YT had got me and I never got interesting recs. "Outwiting the Devil" they really don't much seem to want us to watch though, becayúse they stopped recommending oit, although I watched it 15 times. Whereas they keep recommending sth I watched once 10 years ago, haha.

I also went to this conclusion about KZread consumption two or three month ago. If I want to watch my favourite video makers, I sit down on a couch and watch it like a movie. If I need to do something, I do it in silence and without any distraction. This strategy saves so much energy! This is my first comment in English! :3

As someone who has studied and learnt a foreign language, I always welcome corrections and I hope you don’t take offence. In your first sentence, I would change ‘went’ to the verb ‘came’. That is the correct collocation.

To me it’s the opposite. I’m already a really reflective person. Every second where I don’t watch anything and being alone I’m constantly reflecting my actions, what I said etc. KZread is a great way to get different views on the same topic or just have fun watching something. But in one point Im totally with you and that’s the constant stimulation. Watching KZread is fine, but every free second is too much.

reflection is supposed to be calming and a way of making sense of you and your/the world. if you feel the need to escape it by not being alone or watch something, that´s not reflection, that´s anxiety. coming from someone who had to learn the hard way the difference between the two

I agree. I love both sides, being online and watching videos/listening to music, and also the relaxing side. But honestly, I'm a person who's into their thoughts or "own world" when I take my time off my phone/laptop. If I'm not listening or watching to anything, I get into my own narrative of what I'm doing, what I need to do, my future and my past. Sometimes I think too much and then I start to talk to myself just to let a few words out, which a lot of people do. Though I get it. Every second of YT or being online is way too much and sometimes we need to live in the moment and enjoy the weather or outside, even inside with other people as well.

1:26 this is really what I feel is "toxic productivity" and honestly I experienced this awhile ago as well. You keep chasing that dopamine rush of finishing off your tasks, doing more, creating things and consequently never really taking time to reflect, chill out and have some fun in alternative ways than finishing tasks. I feel more "productivity" KZreadrs have fallen in this trap and it's a guarantee for a burn-out in the long term. Treasure your free time folks, and no, it's not bad to just sit and watch Netflix for two hours just to chill out.

Hey Kharma! I’m a Spanish suscriptor and I’m finishing my degree in Medicine the next year. I’m glad that I’m not the only person who sometimes feels overwhelmed due to our brain constantly working with no stop, trying to do many things at the same time. I think we weren’t biologically designed for this multitasking way of life, and in my opinion in the end this stress can lead to different psychological illnesses (anxiety, depression, unhappiness…). As a suggestion, you could talk about “dopamine fasting” in another video. Thanks for the content and greetings from Murcia!

Five days ago I started reading a book before bed (some easy reading like Dan Brown etc) and for the first time in the last 5 years I was able to fall asleep without headphones and asmr videos. And that made me think about how much time I'm spending on KZread, not doing anything. So I stopped opening the app even if I felt the urge to do it. I had the same conversation with my friend about something very similar. I’m a studying mother of 2 and I have so many things lined up on my to-do list after I finish this semester; Places to go, books to read, fitness goals etc. She reminded me it would also be useful that before diving into those things straight away, I should also include time to rest and just be mindful to avoid burn-out (which I am quite prone to). Not exactly what you’ve described in your situation but it’s also the same concept of resting to achieve further productivity in the long-term and just to be more connected with ourselves. I'm proud of you that you've come to this realisation! :) I have to say, when I heard in one of your videos that sleeping is not anything you're looking forward to, is not anything relaxing for you like for most people then - honestly - I thought that it's creepy and you sound like a robot, not a human! I've always admired your productivity and efficiency but you're missing out a lot on that introspective side and reflecting upon how are you feeling in a certain moment - this is extremely important for one's wellbeing, that ability to always be in contact with your emotions! Every psychotherapist will tell you that. Many people are taught to suppress their emotions since their childhood, it's so detrimental. I've developed the ability to read and feel every emotion that appears inside myself and it helps me tremendously in everyday life. I wish you the same :)

a hundred percent agree. I felt the same. I love Nasir and take a lot of inspiration from him in being disciplined but I also thought about how something just felt emotionally empty in the whole routine. I am a very reflective person, I like to talk about emotions, feelings and reflect on my actions all the time. Sometimes, it can be too much and thats where I take inspiration from Nasir but I feel happy when I enjoy understanding my emotions and talking about them. I am so glad Nasir is taking this step and filling that piece of the puzzle that looked empty to me before. He is amazing and will now also be able to make his life fulfilling and find purpose in everything.

I remember watching all those videos about how productive he is and thinking, wow, great but I just wouldn't ever be able to function like this. I NEED a breather every single day, at least an hour or 2 just for myself to relax and if I had to function like Nasir, just doing one thing after another automatically, I'd get super frustrated and depressed quickly!

After a very long time I finally came to realize that I actually enjoyed neither of the things that I was doing at the same time. For example, watching videos while eating, listening to music while walking... These distractions actually made me lose energy and harmed my inner peace, and I am now seeking to become a person focusing more on my inner self and the nature around me rather than electronic devices. Thank you for mentioning that. I am feeling more confident in practicing this while most people around me tend to stick their eyes on the phones every minute they are free and that used to make me kind of awkward.

The dude said I'm quitting youtube 1 year ago but he still publushed so many videos after that. You see youtubers do not post videos for education, they post videos for your attention. Your attention is the most valuable thing to anyone including you. These guys make thousands of $ because of us, but think about this, when was the last time you saw the content on youtube and then applied it to your life and made changes to it? This is the endless illusion, stop wasting your attentiom, invest your attention to yourself. KZreadrs are liars...

You hit the proverbial "nail on the head" so to speak. It's all about producing content in order to keep your attention. . . . to keep the money rolling in. It's a job. Weather the content is honest or not is another question, I believe that some channels have built their content on a concept that the producer doesn't even really believe is legit, but the cash flow drives him/her to continue. Though in all honesty, most are probably legit and the chance to be heard is what YT provides to many of us.

People in general are now questioning the Big TV station's honesty. The problem with YT is that the content provider is not under the same controls and restrictions as those large NEWS media stations, so it's so much easier for KZreadrs to produce false narratives too. We are all screwed my friend. And truth becones more obscured every day.

At times I felt ashamed that I consume so much youtube and talking to a friend who could not relate, made me feel like I am a failure with using my time. It put such a strain on my mental and I feel it is such a stupid reason. This is why it makes me feel ashamed. I am currently going through this struggle of quitting, falling and raising again 🥲 I also have a short attention span, so getting bored easily makes this really hard for me, very frustrating 🙈. I got a mini heart attack when u said u quit yt... Thx god!!! Btw yeah yt in other times can kill u... like after learning all this, i found the best way to spend all the time... for me the school (high school) is at 12 to 6:30, so I built my schedule to be 4hrs study at the morning (i wake up at 6:30-7) and i start studying at 7:30-11 (i know its not 4 hrs but 3.5 hrs but just nvm), then i chill during that time (i go school at 12) so yeah, and i return home at 7 (it takes 30 mins to come home and get all my uniform out and etc... and then i aim for 4 hrs but ofc i can't, so i end up doing like 5 or 6 hrs, sometimes i feel motivated to go direct 10 hrs in my weekends. So if i get time in between i just think about my todo list and what to add to my ticktick app or i think about my future.. When I go to medschool, I would follow ur schedule cuz i guess it would be fine cuz u too wake up at 7 and study at 4hr block so yeah maybe!! btw thanks!!! NEW video idea: how to organize your life. Thx have a nice day!!!
