Now long story short this was a year long job and then I thought id be back to the train. So I bought a car all up for 5.5k in 2019. It's still going strong...nothing has gone wrong. I have had it serviced and changed brake pads and that's it. During it Covid it just sat there rotting and now it's back to the school run and classes. Astra ftw

I've never put that kind of money into my 2014 VW Touareg TDI 3.0 Lux, in maintenance and repairs. Just oil and filter changes every 10k miles, and transmission fluid change at 50k miles. Sounds like you were having too much fun in your A7.... You want to play, you gotta pay! Breaking turbos, putting the car "through the drink" etc, constitutes abuse. Drive it like an old man ( hey, I'm 62 years old and retired) and it will last much, much, much longer. 58K now on my Touareg, paid $26 k US in 2017, and don't really care how little it's worth 4 years later, I'll drive the wheels off of it, it's so comfortable.

Hi Karl. I know you hated to sell it but it was the best decision for you. Since you weren’t driving it, no reason to spend that kind of money. When my husband passed away 2 years ago, I did not drive but then got my license 7 months later and drive our Jeep but he had a 2003 Ford Mustang convertible which I knew I would never drive. It took me a year to make the final decision to sell it. It was 16 yrs old but only had 13,000 miles on it. Didn’t get as much as I thought but I also didn’t have to pay insurance and City stickers and license plates for it either so i made the right decision. Good luck with rebuilding the car, can’t wait to see it! 🚘

It's crazy how outside the US things like this are so much more expensive. I take it the A7 was a TDi since you mentioned turbo? In the US most of them are the 3.0t supercharged engines. I would say the turbo should have been covered by audi. I would have pushed them on that, they usually cover that cost. Tires are about right, for my 19 inch tires on my A6 I would be paying around $900 USD maybe a little cheaper depending on the shop. Oil change about right as it's usually $60 USD. Insurance got you as well as the payments. If those would have been more cost savings you probably would have kept it. On average in the US for say a 2016 model you're looking at about $25,000 for less then 50k miles. If you have a decent trade in with no negative equity take about 8k off. Right there payments would be about $300/mo at most. Insurance costing around $250/mo. We don't have to declare any modifications though ti Insurance or bank for financing. So they get you there. We also don't have MOT or VAT which saves a little. It's just crazy to see the differences between the two countries. In the end you did what you had to do! Maybe one day you'll get it back. The A7 is a fun car to drive.

Exactly my point, everything in US is cheaper while the salaries are higher, people complain about the health care but in reality health care isnt free in EU, if you pay for premium health vare in US you will still come out with a lot more money left over afzer its all said and done. And most americans still complain about prices and how hard their life is while most Europeans live with a 1400$ monthly salary

You know how to warm up and treat a diesel motor right, being a truck driver. A little mechanical sympathy on a turbo diesel engine when it's still cold and warming up goes a long, long ways. Also, rolling your foot into the throttle slowly, instead of mashing the accelerator saves many a turbocharger, as does a proper cool down before you shut the engine down. 2014 VW Touareg TDI Lux owner here, same experience as you, for 25 years as a VW TDI owner, starting with a 1996 Passat TDI.

I payed 500 for new tires, then i hade a service for 300. and then i hade somting brake on it that cost 10 but the painters wanted 70 just to paint the part (daytona grey pearl effect) so 80 for that. Car insurance i got a deal for the audi dealer for 200 for 6 months and then i payed 30 for each month. And thats all so it cost me 2380 for 1year and 4 months. That’s pretty much how much it costs for our vehicles in warranty, occasionally it needs two new tyres. My insurance company said they can pay me for this car 6k in 2019 i paid for this car 14k . For this 6k i bought..... Audi A7 2014 for 16k xd I'm not happy from engine only 204bhp but only this one example was in very good condition mechanically and visually :) i checked price for servicing like oil filters and oil in gearbox and... ITS NOT SO BAD. in my opinion i pay way more for my F10 2011 :) so for me it's cheaper car for maintenance . Of course if i will need to fix something more expensive in this car probably I feel it but for now is just a pleasure this car looks awesome and quattro is amazing :) 30k is way to much for car new car. I decided to buy Audi for 15k but no chance to get good example facelift for this money . I took for finance. I needed car very quick also pandemic not helping with prices but anyway after 4 years i will own this car xd May I ask about remap ? Can I do remap if i have car on finance? I have to let them know that i made a remap ? What about insurance company ?

If you've kept it and sold it now, you probably would have made money rather than lost it. I'd say such an A7 would cost around 35 grand now. Literally these chip shortages inflated used car prices. I want to get A7 right now but I'd buy it outright and Im literally not even considering doing it right now. On top of that people getting finance on a car that is above 6% is just really bad deal. I've bought my RS4 on a finance and it was 4.2% and it was still a bit on a higher side. P.S Don't buy RS4 it's a money pit since performance cars don't really last as well in general. If I had a chance to buy RS7 or A7 now I'd still go for A7 quattro 3.0tdi V6 310ish bhp even if I could afford going RS7.RS7 Parts literally cost a fortune, servicing at the dealer is pain and costly on top of that it's super difficult to diagnose shit if you are not an audi mechanic and if you are not planning to work on the car yourself well, you are fucke%. To replace a timing chain will probably cost ya £1500-2000 just in labour. Anything goes, you are not prepared to fix it and you are not making 35k+ a year DON'T BUY RS7 or any RS in that regard really! Since I'm lithuanian I reccon I'll get my A7 in germany or Netherlands get it to lithuania, register etc etc... and service it myself running it to the ground eventually withing 10 or 15years. It's an amazing car, it looks and feels great, it drives amazing and especially it does last really long time if you are servicing it well. So yeah.

No Audi, Bmw or even Mercedes is good enough to justify that loss in 2 years no matter how nice it may be to drive or look at. What a waste of money. Stunning vehicle but I couldn't justify that loss.

It’s poor decisions sadly, as mentioned. You could have leased a new one for two years for like 12k, with his milage, probably 10k or under. Even a 7 series costs nowhere near 18k so it’s insane when a used car takes such a big loss

He sold at the wort time ever to be honest , in June 2020. Had he waited another 18 months he would have gotten more than £23k for it .

Champagne tastes and shandy money. Clearly not in a position to go out and buy a £30,000 car. Why not get an older one if your heart's set on an A7. No one's going to look at the number plate too closely on that sort of car.

lol watched the video and i really think you are not the brightest person. The major loss of your money was depreciation and probably audi brake service
