Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Hey guys, I wanted to do this motovlog and tell you why I prefer 250 4 stroke dirt bike for MX riding. you know I soId my 450 mx bike not long ago. I want to share where I am at right now and what I want to improve. Check out the video and let me know what do you prefer to ride on MX track, let me know what you think about my progress as well ;) Cheers!

If you really want to improve your riding get on a 125 two-stroke. It DEMANDS that you do everything correctly because you are not covering up poor riding skills with horsepower. You have to think of everything.....when to shift, where you are in the powerband, setting up for corners, jumps, tabletops, etc. The only downside is that it is very light and when you switch to a bigger bike or 4-stroke.....all of the sudden it feels like you're dealing with the Queen Mary for weight. 37 years old? Hell, I didn't know people got that old!! LOL! Turn the numbers around and you've got my age....now, where did I put my glasses? At my age you can get aerobic putting on your boots or leathers.....Love ya man, Keep the Faith.

Different experience for me. I went from 2001 yz250 as my first bike to a 2008 yz450f as my current. I've ridden a few 250 four strokes and they were nice bikes. However I'm a bit of a bigger guy. I sit at about 230 pounds with my gear on and I found the 250's laboured a bit more under certain more advanced conditions. When the bike labours it turns into my labour. My 450 on the other hand doesn't labour and is extremely comfortable to ride. It has all the power in the world but only if I need it. I felt my confidence really peak on the 450. I feel as if the bike taught me better throttle control and clutch control due to the fact I was terrified of it at first. And the bike is light. Weighs less than my brothers 2016 ktm 300xc. Put in a few mods to make it a little more trail friendly. It will still flame out from time to time but that's the least of my worries. I'm new to track riding. Probably only been on a track twice so far but after an hour I was able to throttle the bike hard out of the corners with confidence. The year of the bike and the make comes into play. I rode ktms which were great bikes. I rode hondas which were good but I felt like they handled like pigs and the yz has been my favorite so far. Not one bike excels everywhere. Haven't seen one yet that is the perfect all around bike (closest in my opinion is the ktm300xc) but all in all I find the 450 to be much more lienient than the 250s I see a lot of videos and comments saying that you don't need a 450 but that depends on the rider. Not sure I can ever step down off a 450 again.

Here me out. I know you commented 3 yes ago. Have you ridden a 250 geared and set for your weight? I'll admit I'm not the biggest dude sitting at 165 myself, but I know minus the obvious power difference the proper gearing and suspension setup on a 250 will allow you to ride the bike at its limits without wearing you out and no risk of accidentally going over a berm. I'm an 250 A class 33 yrold rider and speak from experience. The bigger guys with a proper set up 250 take most all 450 B class and a lot of A class big guys to gapplebees with lap times. Again I'm not a big guy and my experience with a bike is different this is a outside the looking glass comment.

Something these videos never mention is the durability of a modern 450. It's by FAR the cheapest way to ride a dirtbike. Air filters and oil changes for multiple hundreds of hours. No valve adjustments...no top ends....almost never a grenaded motor. I see so many guys sitting at home because their 250F is blown up or has bashed the valve seats into oblivion. 450 durability and longevity is unmatched, and with modern mapping and gearing options you can make them as slow as you want. Cue the haters that say we should all be riding 125 2Ts.

@Dirt N Iron I bought my first bike at 27. A Suzuki rmz 450. I had this misconception that a 250 wouldn't be able to move me because I'm 6 foot 6 and weigh around 225-250. I was poorly mistaken. That bike had way too much power for a newbie like me. Would scare the shit out of me. I eventually sold it and I have not been able to afford another bike since then. How is the injury rate for Motocross I've been wanting to get back into riding and doing tracks instead of trails but I'm afraid of getting injured which could impact my job is it relatively safe as long as you wear the proper gear and are not to crazy on the track?

Safe is a relative term. I've broken wrists several times, broke my ankle, had some cracked ribs, a concussion and road rash. To me nothing real serious long term but not fun. A word of warning though. I was fast trail riding with a buddy when he hit a deer at about 50mph just in front of me, he is now crippled for life due to a spinal injury.

Hey Rado, I'm 180 lbs. I've been thinking of buying a new bike. I want to go with the 2019 or 2020 rmz250, price wise make a lot more sense. I can also clear all the jumps at my local vet track, except sometimes I have trouble with one on my 97 yz125. Do you recommend the rmz250 for me?

yea, I think you will be happy on that bike, you can get great price for 2019. they come little stiff from the factory, forks are bit over-sprung.. I would suggest to get really good deal for 2019 leftover and for $ saved get the suspension dialed in.
