I planner hop like it's my job but I ALWAYS ALWAYS seem to come back to the weeks. In the last couple of months I realized that I tend to switch planners when I am feeling anxious and stressed out or overwhelmed about all of the things that I need to get done. I have realized that a new planner is not going to help me, I just need to buckle down, stop procrastinating, and get things done. Once I realized all of that, I realized the weeks is perfect for me and I had to give myself permission to make it messy. I can no longer worry about making it "Pinterest perfect" looking, and this has taken a tremendous amount of pressure off of me. I don't know why I was so concerned with making it look so nice when I never showed it to anyone. Now, the messiest pages are my favorite.

The Weeks just has everything. Why not use it? I also hop for the same reasons. I would love to have a messier planner page, but it feels wrong to scribble for now. Maybe I’ll break myself of it. I’ve been writing neatly in a planner my whole life though…so chances are slim.

I often watch these planner KZread videos & when someone talks about changing their planner again it’s in a tone of apology. Don’t apologize for doing what you want. Don’t apologize for not committing to a decision. We have the right to change our mind, our mood, the colors that we like, the planner system we want to use, the clothes we want to wear, and the way we want to think. When my husband says, “but you have five of those“ - I just say, “Yep!“ he knows not to go any further. So, thank you for changing your mind because it helps us see all the different beautiful planners. Plan on! xo

Hi Sam! I don't know if you'll see this as I'm getting to this video late, but one thing that helps me is that I use my rings planner for things that rotate and may go beyond a year. For example, meal ideas, cleaning schedule, homeschool information; budgeting and finances; work/business projects, Home projects, etc. Those are things that I do not necessary want to shelve after a year (I might still be referring to some of the things in certain sections) like I'd have to in the Weeks AND I have the freedom to pull out certain things I don't care about archiving. I use the Weeks for day to day planning, to do's, appointments, lists, etc. so I have a record of them. It's my main planner. I also have another Weeks for memory keeping. I just write a short account of the day, or something I want to remember. I find it totally doable to journal in the weeks because I'm not trying to fill huge pages. So I have a rings and two Hobo Weeks. I think this really keeps me from getting board and also I enjoy digging into my rings as needed and using it for what I think the system's strengths are. Just wanted to share because I can totally relate to everything you are saying here and I think you CAN have the best of both worlds. 😁

My edc will always be a weeks in a moterm style cover, used as a wallet, and I stay consistent in this one because I love it. I use the cousin as a household planner, I love the weekly pages to keep track of internet orders, Klarna, etc., and I try to memory keep in the daily pages, but I fail here regularly. I also have my spiritual weeks, and the A6 is my houseplant journal, I am not as dedicated to these two, but stuck with them throughout the year. I do not need all of these, but I love the personal expression of each layout, and each book brings me joy. If I am having a bad mental health week and ignore a planner, I have learned to let it go, this was the hardest thing for me.

I've tried so many planners but the weeks is perfect for me. I always think I need more room, but really don't. It fits all I need. I am gifting weeks this year to my friend's. I hope to spread the love. You are right it's a planner and journal all in one. I put stickers on mine too and love the clear cover. It has just enough pockets. I actually cut the ribbon bookmarks out they irritate me. I use the pencil board instead.

Even I love your frontal art/pics/stickers! It’s like you’re my best friend who lives far away.😂❤ I’m also returning to the Hobo Weeks this year after a run in with B6 Slim, Narrow and passport. Sigh, it’s tiring just to think of the time and money spent and wasted on it all. I still use a Travelers Co Regular and a TC Passport one like a scrapbook and one as a journal. Anyway, I’ll be following right along with you no matter how bumpy the ride! 🍄🎃

oh no, back to hobonichi again. I managed to be hobonichi-free for 2022 and found out about Kinbor from aliexpress back in August. I bought a dated weeks and a couple of undated ones for 2023 use (best for not having to leave blank pages inbetween times I don't use it while in other planners). with all the extra unused planner pages I cut them up to fit my mini 5 hole loose leaf refills for just jotters to toss after info moved over to binded archive planners. best planner peace is not to feel pressured to use up every dated planners due to empty pages. just something I found out recently.

So appreciative of how you let us in on your thought processes. Amazing how many of us are going through similar stuff. I so get your Hobo Weeks issue. Love what you've done with yours. I have the 2023 English Weeks because what's planning without that lovely format? I've retired recently so the line-up is: Think Ink bujo:Dailies (which I live for) and journaling/notes in the bujo. Stuff I don't want to draw like monthly calendars I'll print and tape in; Clena 04 in black,; 2 mildliners,; 2 Sharpies in green & bronze; an old tiny Moleskine as a mind-sweep/ref, and the Weeks as an EDC and pre-planning tool( and I'm giving up and using ballpoint *gasp*). That's about as simplified as I can manage right now...may throw in some Fall themed washi....or not. Looking forward to your next up-date.

2022 was a weird planner year for me, I used a franklin covey compact all of 2021 and then I switched to FC Classic size in the beginning of 2022. I started a new job in February and that like completely through my planner game for a loop. I switched to a day free a6 hobonichi but that didn’t quite work out, then I was in a FC Pocket for a couple of months, then I switched to a traditional A7 pocket rings, which I absolutely loved, but it was still not giving what I needed. I eventually set up a mini happy planner and that was going really well and I still loved that set up and fully intended to finish the year in it. I had a month on two pages, a horizontal weekly view and a reading tracker and some notes pages, simple and all I needed. For 2023 my plan is to use an A5 erin condren softbound. I every much agree with not wanting to set things up and take inserts out and move things around, it’s exhausting. I love a good pocket rings but I just really wanted a simple bound planner that was cute enough that I didn’t have to do a lot of deco and I could keep all my info in it. 2023 is going to be extremely busy for me and I just need no fuss. Then I went on the hobonichi website because I wanted to buy some covers to put my A5 in. I saw the weeks and I was like man I really wish the weeks would work for me. I remembered I bought a weeks in 2017 and never used it because the size was so awkward. I dug it out and repurposed the months for a current October set up and my brain exploded. It’s so perfect!! It’s so effortless, BUT I ALREADY ORDERED MY EC A5! 😂😂😂 So I’m finishing out the year in my repurposed weeks from 2017 and I am still doing the A5 for next year, but I am bringing in a weeks for a reading log/journal and who knows, maybe in 2024 I’ll be in a weeks full time. My planner needs are always changing. I also wouldn’t mind going back to an A6 hobo. LOL the struggle.

I haven’t been following your channel long enough to know - have you ever tried Traveler’s Company inserts in a TN cover? The Weekly+memo layout is the same as the Weeks, but the paper is friendlier to gel pens and has a larger grid size that might work better for you. I switched from that to the Weeks Mega because I wanted the smaller grid and to try fountain pens - you might enjoy going in the other direction if the larger page size works okay for you.

Except I’m in love with the Cocoa Daisy weeks stickers. So I’m going to try Weeks, just to use the stickers. If it doesn’t work for me, I’ll revert to my A6 traveler’s type inserts - which has worked best for me this year.

To be totally honest, right now I have a scratch pad listing the various planners I own (3 sizes of hobonichi, 2 in B6 a perfect planner, and a katie daisy agenda, and the pocket daily moleskine) and trying to figure out what the hell am I going to do with them. I use the Weeks primarily. I'm just suffering from planners' guilt because why did I get so many planners? I agree with you about planner hopping. I am hopping right now, and probably most likely will mid-2023 from whatever I choose to be my EDC. I'm sure there will be changes, and I have to live with that.

I just love planners--every size, shape, design, etc. But, I am very left-brained and hate wasting things, so I have undated weekly and monthly pages for a disc-bound planner, which allows me to remove and insert pages with wild abandon and zero guilt! I use the various blank notebooks for journals, and I have different types of journals--one for sewing/crafting projects, one for spiritual growth, one for general personal essays. These don't get written in every day. Having multiple planners and journals allows me to "try all the things"--different sizes, papers, covers, etc. I watch planner videos all the time because seeing and hearing about what other people do and use helps me decide what I want to use, and which notebook to select for each purpose. Using undated printables or refills has been my solution for planner peace!

This video applies to me so much. For years I used the same smallish spiral bound planner that ticked all the boxes for me. It was home. I loved it. I never thought about any other planners. Then in 2021 they ruined it by changing it u to a gigantic 8.5 by 6.5 book that was hard bound and thick. I need portable. I still bought it and felt dismayed lol. So then I get on Amazon and find an A6 slim bookbound planner I absolutely adored. So now I am trying to keep up with two and duplicating info. Then enter 2022 they come out with same hardbound book that I can’t seem to let go of but in a slightly smaller true A5. So I buy it but also repurchase same 10 dollar planner from Amazon. Another year of trying to keep up with two. Tried other planners but didn’t get the same feeling I get from these two. But I only want one book. I have repurchased both for 2023 but I think I am going to use the bigger one for the inserts cut them down to size and tip them into my smaller book so essentially I am going to hybrid my two favorite planners into one. I know this was a rant but I’m still so mad that they took my favorite perfect planner and made it big bigger than it needed to be was perfect before. Since then I have gone down the rabbit hole of buying every planter on the market trying to re-create that feeling and never quite accomplishing that. Just to end up right back where I was so I absolutely love your video because it is so similar to what I went through.

My thought is take Jan, Feb and March of 2024 calendars and redate for sept/Nov 2022, then actually start the monthly in December when the book starts. The daily pages I will just use as paper to write anything: meal log, body changes/measurements, notes, inspirational quotes, recipes, meeting notes (WW). The actual dates on the page will serve as my page numbers for my index. Hope it works out.

I have a filofax malden in my drawer that's been there for 3 years and that's how long I've been gaslighting myself that someday I will want to use it again because it was a very expensive purchase and the shipping cost is almost the same price as the malden. I realize I've never once gotten the urge to go back to rings ever since I stopped using it. I used it for 2 months before I realized it wasn't for me. My friend told me that I probably lost interest on it because most people can't complete a whole year planner but I showed her my 2 hobonichi megas that's filled to the brim with writings and memories. Although it comes with downfalls also …having to take pages out and then not having everything with you and the bulk. Not easily transportable. I've been so invested in your 2022 planner journey! The weeks is so dependable to me. The layout is really nice for seeing what I have going on, having day specific tasks, and week specific tasks. If my brain worked that way, I would not leave. The layout is too narrow for me though. If there was a B6 planner that did a week on two pages the way the weeks does, I would be set. As it is, I use my 2022 one for meal planning. I'm using a B6 undated v2 Wonderland 222 for work and I love it. The notes pages in the back work great with the weekly layout because I need to track hours to charge different areas. I'd probably use an A5 W222 if it weren't for the common planner. I pre-ordered that because I'm a sucker for TONS of notes pages and gilded edges 🤩 I have found that I have to have separate planner and journal. I'm journalling in a cousin without regard for dates; my goal is to fill it by the end of the year so I can jump into an undated tomoe river paper notebook. I've found that after writing on TRP for so long, other paper feels so rough in comparison!

I love that you have maintained a sense of humor during what must be a frustrating time. I have to say, this is the first time I've heard someone say that they don't like TRP. I have been been in a Hobonichi weeks exclusively for years and 2023 will be my first time using an a6 hobo. I will still use the weeks for documenting ongoing monthly and yearly events, personal info (health, passwords, addresses, restaurants, books, etc.) monthly pages - gratitude, stickers and weekly pages - snapshot/highlight of the day. The a6 will be day to day creative journaling, as well as banking, trackers, chores, weather. Will figure it out when I move in in January. Looking forward to being able to find stuff easier, I hope.

I’ve been subbed to you for years. It’s. Ok to change what fits your needs as you need it. The hobo weeks sucks me in every year. I still use my rings, but not on the go. I use strings and rings and bound books. Don’t let anyone make ya feel like you have to explain yourself. We get it girl. We understand. I remember when you had all your pocket Filofax and caught flack for switching from strings to rings like geez. Good grief others would think they have a say to your planning. Do what makes you happy. I’ll always still watch your vids. Editing…. I can keep 2 separate planners/journals. I know my husband will never want to read my Hobonichi and see when we had appointments mixed in with journals. He simply just wants to read the journals to him. Which is what I keep in all of my travelers company standards. When I was dx with my rare disease. I started journaling to him so hard with photos and stickers. I try to keep up with writing a few times each week in my journals. I can’t keep up daily. I’ll hold you to finishing the hobo even if you need to plan on the rings. At least let’s keep up with finishing our hobo weeks for the 2022 out.

Im struggling because work is just all over the place. Im trying to make work planning more digital since it changes constantly. I keep forcing the journal too. So for 2023 i decided on the weeks mega and a weekly supplement. I also got a notebook so if i feel like journaling or decorating with stickers i can just do it randomly. But definitely going to focus on using the weeks mega for planning and organizing school, personal, and only major work planning. Im also a libra too lolol i used to be in a disc set up but using the bookbounds more.

Hey Sam, this year I am using the new sterling ink B6. That was a big decision because at the beginning of the year I started using the cousin. I really love that and did have a custom cover made for it😊 From Apple pig. Will continue to use the A5 for journaling. Pictures of the new change for the Sterling Ink planner of course I had to get new covers. So far the planner has not even gotten here and I have five new covers and a VDS ordered. I really hope since I have invested myself into the new size but That am happy with it. It is also a wallet which is why I chose the B6 instead of the A5. I am using the wallets now and love the size. Can’t wait to put the new planner in it. I love your videos, and your indecision is common for so many of us and really does help to work through it.

Love your videos. Right now I am using a Filofax Holborn as my EDC planner/wallet combination. I have undated week on two pages that I bought on Etsy years ago and continue to print out each year. I love the idea of the Weeks and have tried on many occasions to use it. My problem is that I would do something decorative in the Weeks and then decide I didn't like it. Being a bound book, there was not much I could do to fix the problem. The funny thing is that in rings I don't seem to make the decoration mistakes even though I can remove pages. I would love to use a Weeks and a small cover/wallet combination.

I found you on IG so I've enjoyed watching your videos about planning. 😊 I use an A5 William Hannah Notebook (disc) with the inserts that the company sells. I love it. I've used it since end of 2020. I moved to that after years of trying to bullet journal/plan. I loved the flexibility but tired of drawing every spread. Especially since I'm not artistic. Lol. In 2020 I tried a pre-printed planner (spiral) and hated it. Not enough space or pages to write/add. My WH allows me the flexibility I need. I also have the WH pocket planner and order the moleskine weekly for 2023. I need something for when I'm out and about and don't have my A5 with me.

Sam, why don't you just use a mustard cardstock to use to cover the brighter yellow so that you can lessen the brightness that's jarring for you. I know that you use your leather cover, but maybe just using that cardstock will help you ignore the color that the Weeks is originally and give you a soothing feeling. You don't have to decorate the paper just let it cover the tropical yellow color. Hope this suggestion helps a bit 💛.

I recently started planner hopping as I’m going from being a stay at home mom for 3 years to back to work. I’ve always used an erin condren life planner and a monthly for budgeting but going back to work and working the bare minimal like PRN so not needing a planner with a ton of space I decided on the erin condren on the go petite folio system and o love it but I just do not like have one page per day I hate it but it’s super cute so I plan to still use it, for my monthly budgeting, and having traveler notebooks inside to journal in and will be buying a hobonichi for 2023 to start my new year back to working and doing all the mom stuff. I love that it’s slim and small very easy to carry, customizable, that it’s like a book with awesome paper (not for long though so I’ve heard) with abilities to use as a journal etc and being able to junk it up with sticker it’s amazing. Not that I would as I prefer to functional plan and use the occasional sticker for dentists, date night, birthdays etc. I’m super excited and can’t wait I know I’ll Love it and it’s going to work perfectly for me and what I need ot to do for me 💗

Another Libra here; currently unbalanced scales, as you will note. This year was my first in a weeks. I used it for my catch all/EDC (started in December) and didn't hate it. I use a half letter for work. My 2023 lineup is kind of still in the air. I received a weeks-style planner in a villabeautifful box and before I knew that was coming I ordered a weeks-size freely planned from planner monkey co. and was going to use one of those as my EDC in 2023. Recently, I have seen a lot of people using the hobonichi cousin and I think, hmmmm... LOL I would like to transition out of my job by the end of this year and then wouldn't need the HL for that, but I love my discs and have lots of cute layout options so that would be the home management planner. AND, an A5 for meal planning -- because it was on hand and is clear vinyl so can be easily wiped clean. Yep, out of balance scales.

Hey Sam, I get you. I go back and forth all the time even this year with my first Hobo cuz (spring start). I am going to finish using it through Dec 2022. I don't have a job right now, so it's been a combo of brain dump, personal journaling and collage pages. I love the A5 sizes. I have many of that size in rings yet like you it just doesn't feel right. I tried a pretend hobo week and didn't even make it a month. I am not a hobo weeks person to begin with. I love my A&O for monthly journaling which I just cracked one open for Oct. Yet I don't daily journal in it either. I did break down and bought a cover and cover on cover for next year in A6 - jumping in with both feet yet using a blank notebook instead of dated. I am the opt. there I hate when I miss a date. ...... Good luck on this new quest of yours.
