Honestly, a show with Boba just being silent and tilting his head isn't too appealing, but I agree that dumbing down characters (like the fucking space phalanx scene) might become a major problem in later episodes.

Yeah, I think everyone expected him to use his jetpack at some point in that scene. It was really painful to watch him fail in this completely winnable fight. I mean, I know the actor is old, but the character isn´t (he should be around 40 at this point). If he can´t do proper fight scenes anymore, guess what. Put on the fucking helmet, and have a stunt double do the fights. The writers also seem to be afraid of blasters for some reason. I might be wrong, but I don´t think I have seen a single blaster shot in the entire episode.

I think people are getting confused with your main point. It was not that Boba should have relatively no dialogue and only nod his helmet to get OT fans wet and maintain extreme mystique or whatever. The example of a great director for how Boba should be portrayed in Rick Famuyiwa was the main point, I believe. As in yes, Boba Fett should have more dialogue in his very own show and do more/a lot of body movement but the execution of this should be more calculated and non-contradictory towards other pieces of media and/or ideas earlier established. Just like Vader and Maul can have a lot of dialogue in media and as well as failures but that doesn't stop them from being the most scary, badasses in the galaxy. These factors presented before do not always dumb down a badass, it enhances them, so get it right disney, or current BoBF directors. Don't be afraid little disney directors, and other important disney staff, make bold moves, make dark moves, make moves that make me drop my mouth down to my balls. And... Do it right. Just as other humans who are not exactly super in intellect or planning or whatever you call it, have.

Wow, dude, you exposed all of my thoughts while watching the show XD I still have hope, it's just the first episode. The problem is, in my opinion, The Mandalorian is so well done that, when I rewatched its first scene just after the end of the first episode of BOBF, it gave me chills. When i will rewatch something of BOBF I hope to feel the same thing, but i think that it will not happen with most of the things that we saw in the pilot. The truth is that we lost the mystery beyond the character during those years (I'm excluding the legends because I didn't read anything). Think about that, they need to let the new generations know Boba and the older generation to feel the same coldness of the past years... AND it is very difficult if he is always in bacta or if he takes off his helmet everytime.

    - loved the few stories we're given (childhood trauma, rotj-mando and ruling jabbas territory) - i think having two portrayals of boba would be best - a cool, cold and ruthless boba in his flashbacks with less dialogue + the one we have now who is more calm, understanding and not a straight up murderer, but still a badass and has more dialogue. - the fight did feel almost great but kinda weak, jetpack being used in the first episode would've been sick, he had to get dragged straight to the bacta chamber like come on bro we watch you kick ass in mando, no bacta needed every two minutes i still enjoyed it, especailly as a pilot episode

Totally agreed man really good summary of what ive been thinking about the first episode. I understand why they made boba phisicaly weaker because of the sarlacc and shit but i don't understand why the most experienced bounty hunter is suddenly stupid and irresponsible enough to first fire a wrist rocket at point blank range, then not even think about using his jetpack to escape (literally the most logical solution its almost like this scene was set up for him to show off his jetpack but he didnt lol) and lastly waste another wrist rocket on an escaping enemy. I have never read any books but after watching him for just 7 minutes in the OT and reading two comics you can tell that this guy was all about non stop caution, strategy, deadlines and most importantly efficiency and he presented the opposite of that in BOBF. I really hope the next episodes bring us the old expanded universe boba back but honestly it would seem weird that he would suddenly change after what we've seen as canonicaly he is already supposed to be in his prime or past it after escaping sarlacc :((

In my opinion, i like both episodes and I’m very hyped for the rest of the series Edit: I agree with boba for helping the mando cause he’s trying to build his empire out of respect. In order to get that respect he has to repay that debt of having his armor returned with no complications Double edit: I love boba too much man, if you see this, I would like to know your favorite thing about boba or favorite thing on ep 2. I've interviewed Jeremry Bulloch many times in the past, He always used to say that Boba Fett should have never taken his helmet off. Also Boba Fett should have never been linked to clone wars etc. His childhood should have never been shown to us. The audience should never know who he really is, as It adds to the mystery of the character. The audience should just be given hints or snippets of dialogue that indicate what hes been through, but never really show us.

@@oXRaptorzXo I never said "what I want" I'm just saying what "Jeremy" the original actor that played "Boba Fett" always used to say, and I happen to agree. He always used to say he saw the character almost the same as "the man with no name" from the spaghetti westerns. The audience knows nothing of his past, and its more intriguing that way imo. Also you can still make a film or series and not have a main character remove thier helmet. Mandalorian, Judge Dredd etc..

The idea they’d try hanging a show on a character” so devoid of personality has been baffling to me ever since the show was first announced, but after watching the first few episodes I’m seriously stunned at just what an amazingly uncharismatic dud Temuera Morrison is as a performer. Somehow the character with his helmet on has way more of an expressive range and personality than this wet blanket of an actor does with it off.

Also, Robert Rodriguez keeps fucking forgetting about the jetpacks. In the mandalorian s2 e6, mando is told to leave his jetpack on the ground by boba, once he sees the stormtroopers coming, why tf does he not pick up the jetpack? I got the answer, lazy writing... How hard would it have been to just have the dark troopers pick grogu up and then overpower mando during an aerial chase sequence in which mando uses his jetpack to go after him. He does the same thing when boba goes to town in episode 1, when attacked by the assassins, why didn't they have boba kick some ass instead of getting his ass kicked? Also, after watching the stinking pile of garbage that was episode 3, the excitement that I once had about a godfather type show with boba is completely gone. There was no buildup to the black krrsantan fight, and black krrsantan gets defeated by those fucking kids? This is just unbelievable

What I take from this video is that you wanted the Boba from the og trilogy who wasn't a character. He had absolutely nothing to work with in terms of making him intresting beyond just "badass bounty hunter is badass". I personally much prefer the Boba we're getting here. A man who has to struggle with wanting to be an honorable man in a world of crime. Of course that doesn't make this episode perfect. I completely agree with everything you said about the sarlac pit being extremely underwhelming and that action scene with the assassins being dumb as all hell. I just don't take any personal issue with actually giving Boba character (I know there was probably more to him in the books, but they aren't canon anymore so I don't think it's real critisism to say Boba doesn't line up with the books, not to say that was a point you made. Just putting it out there). Good video though, you put your points across significantly better than anyone else I've seen talk about the show and even if I disagree, I can't say your talking shit. We just want different things.

@@v_o_r_p_a_l agreed but Boba was also just as loved in the episode he returned in Mando where he spoke quite a lot in ratio with his screen time. I wish the show was more a middle ground between OT Boba and what we have in episode 1+2 which is what I fell him in the Mandalorian is. The writers clearly saw the potential in a more developed and talking Boba from the Mandalorian and took a big step instead of using the series to transition Boba from how he was in Mando to how he is now

I kinda wish they did like this. Season 1: flashbacks and him making his way out of the sarlacc and crawling through the sand. It would've probably gave it a 127 hour vibe to it which would've been amazing a claustrophobic ride. Season 2: Boba gaining help from the sand people to regain gear and strength. Maybe even learning new tricks only the sand people know? Season 3: he gets to the point where he is able to come back and becomes the top dog in bounty hunting and the entire crime syndicate. Personally they haven't really done star wars justice since rogue one. Idk if it's just me moving on in life or if it's me missing the old dark and gritty ambience star wars had. However it just hasn't had the same spark, hell I love boba but I couldn't even make it through 1 minute of the first episode.
