    Wow the definition is sooooo good! I finally bought a Denman a few months ago and after trying different techniques found one that worked for me and haven’t looked back.....I love it. I have fine, thin, very highlighted, shoulder length, mostly 2c/3a hair with 3 small trouble spots where I can barely get a wave. Not only does it give me great definition it also curls those 3 troubled spots which blows me away! I did learn somethings from you today that I will definitely try next wash day....twist the brush only at the ends & do gel AFTER styling with the brush. I have been twisting the brush down the section from root to end. Sort of using the back of the brush to smooth the section as I brush through it. Works very well but it does make pretty tight ringlets and I prefer a looser curl. For me I did get better results by removing some rows of bristles. Only have 4 rows left now which works best for me. Your technique looks promising. Great video and lovely curls! 🤩

    I am not a curly girl, 2a at best, but I thought everyone would like to know this brush has been around since the earlier half of the twentieth century! We had one as kids that my Mum would use to detangle (painfully) so we would steal all the teeth so she couldn’t use it. It was a lot of fun watching her hunt them out as we always ‘forgot’ where we put them.

    Beautiful. Thank you. Question: I find I need the gel cast way up on my root area...is it ok to moisturize, gel then use the brush for definition? Also. How does the brush distribute product? It seems to me that product gets pulled down the hair shaft and ends up great on the ends but it pulls it off the root area. I never need volume... my hair is much like yours in curl pattern but unlike you I poof straight from my scalp and can end up with frizz poof from my scalp till about half way down and then my curls form from there. So I look like a frizzy mess at the base of my scalp with these curls only at the last 3 inches of my strands. Any suggestions? Thank you. Smiles and blessings...

    Does this work on short hair? My hair only comes down to the bottom of my neck (not quite shoulders). It was kinky curly growing up, but is now sparse waves :(. I think from years of heat styling. I'm in my 50's now. Also, is that your natural color now? I have about that much gray--and it looks good on you! Wonder if I could stop coloring....

    Does brushing it like that make your curls stringy? They didn’t seem to clump together much as you were doing it because the strands weren’t necessarily close together. Supposedly to detangle with a denman brush you are to hold it vertically (and horizontally like normal for definition) 🤷🏻‍♀️

  • @TheGlamBelle

    @TheGlamBelle

    My curls aren’t stringy at all using it like this. I mean you could see the results at the end. But you can always take out rows of bristles if you want them clumped more

    Do you use your continuous spray bottle for creating a refresher mix of like conditioner/water/etc and if so, does it clog? I got my cont. spray bottle at Sallys specifically for a refresher sprayer but it clogs so easily that i can only do a ratio of about 1/50 of conditioner to water.

    Amy D My continuous mister will only work with water. I’ve tried adding small amounts of other products but they’re too thick for a mist. It won’t even mist pure aloe vera juice, which I like for refreshing. I have to use a regular spray bottle if I want to add anything.

    I don't understand why many people believe 3c-4c hair is as tough as nails? Our hair is way more fragile than other hair types! Let's make that very clear! We cannot use a Denman brush to detangle our hair, either! Now, carry on!

    You have amazing hair.....BUT.....you can get even more curl definition with spirals if you will twirl the brush as you go down, not just at the very end. Twirl all the hair, from root to end, not just the ends. This technique using the Denman changed my curly life, but I see so few videos showing it used correctly.

I have type 3a-3b medium fine, sis has 2b-2c fine hair. I sent her your video as I had suggested she continue to use her wet brush to de tangle n the denman for defining her curls/waves.
