Hands down the BEST video I've found about the Denman brush and 2b-3a curling method. I love the patient, step-by-step explanation and all the information she has put into it. It also helps that she has a calm voice and eloquent speaking as it is a long video.

Her hair is *not* 2b,c, nor 3a. After the denman brush she's forced it into a curl pattern but I'd call her 2a: wavy. If this a 3a then how is my afro a 4b??

@@jalisacutler1228 she did not force her hair in a curl pattern at all, all she did was scrunch it which encourages your own curl pattern. You can't force your hair in a curl pattern that way... If you have straight hair nothing is going to happen that way. 2a hair only has a little movement, 2b has s-waves and 2c is starting to form ringlets. I've seen a lot of girls here on YT with tight curls commenting on girls with less tight curls trying to deminimize their curl/wave pattern and I don't get it. Someone having 3a hair does not make your 4a hair less of an afro curl

@@maya-jh6iw the point is that if she didnt use the denman brush and didn't scrunch it, her curls would be alot looser which is how her natural hair is.

Thanks so much for this! this is the first time I've seen someone post a curly girl/wavy young lady video whose hair was anything like mine. I also have dense, fine, multi-patterned hair that can range from a 2b to a 3c depending on section, day of the week, which way the wind is blowing, who won the World Series, who knows what else, and this was super helpful. Excited to try out a Denman brush

Yes yes Yes!!!!!!! Finally a tutorial from someone with low porosity hair who doesn't use fistfuls of product. You're the first tutorial I've seen with hair texture and porosity like mine, so it helps to see what kind of results I can achieve with the Denman brush. Also, I've been pixie diffusing for years, and it is the BEST way to diffuse to minimize frizz and maximize root volume......honestly thought I was the only one who ever used this method. Thank you so much for this tutorial!

This is what I was coming to the comments to say! I use an old stretched out hair tie, and I was able to wrap it around a couple times and it holds tight enough to hold down the cool button the whole time, but its loose enough that I can slide the band down off the button easily if I need heat.

Great tip about putting down a towel on the floor. I have completely wiped out in the bathroom after slipping on a wet floor with product, more than one time!! Great video! I used the Denman brush for the 1st time today and it did not go as smoothly as your tutorial. I didn't section it off nicely like you did. Twisting it out of the way is a great idea. Also, my hair felt wet but it didn't make the squish sound. So, I have learned some new ways to try it. Thanks!

My hair is about ten times curlier than yours. When I want the curls 'tamed' I twirl it around my finger to create ringlets (after adding curly-hair, frizz-free mouse) then either leave it to dry naturally, or use a diffuser. Then I run my fingers through it and add tons of serum. I have used a Denman brush since the mid 70s to smooth pout my curls when I want a sleeker, straighter look. It's the best brush on the market!

It looks just like any other hairbrush! 4.) Why do u go to all of that trouble to get curls?? All u need to do, if u have curly or semi curly hair is comb it out after towel drying it, coat it in a gel for curly hair, scrunch it with your fingers and let it air dry. Your hair looks just like mine and mine dries naturally in 15 minutes, with full curls with this method

@@AwakenedOne447 basically rhe lower the number(and then letter) the straighter your hair/curl pattern is. Google "curl pattern hair type." Chucking it into images is the beet way to go to begin because some people's opinion on what is a 3A might be someone else's opinion on what is actually a 2B/C. If you are unsure of what you are (most people have multiple hair types on their head, or might have much curlier hair than they realise because of existing damage/lack of curly routine/location weather/treatment etc.) start looking for tests that show examples of actors and actresses or other celebrities. The reason I say that is because you see them and their hair A LOT so can see a variety of different curly or good/bad hair days so can help get a netter accuratr idea. Another thing to remember though, is it is a label that is just meant to be a guide to help yourself and hairdressers get a better idea of what best way to handle it. It's not important if it's 'right' or not. Good luck!

I'm not sure what my curl type is, it's probably a 2c or 3a, but yesterday I bought a denman brush so I'm looking forward to trying it tomorrow. This was helpful, thanks 😊

You explained every important point really well. I wish I saw your videos earlier. The pixie diffuse is really important and nobody seems to use it in tutorials.

I don't know how long ago you were a girl, Nancy, but I'm in my mid 50s...and Denman was already a well-established (and already considered "old-fashioned") hair brush brand when I was very young!

I have the same hair type. I don’t use a special brush or many different products. I just comb my hair, use light gel and off to work I go my hair air dries on the way.... sometimes I get to work and my hair is wet...a defused will help..😀

I quite literally have almost identical 2b waves as you (although I do have a few layers, not too many tho) & this brush has proven over & over to just be a cumbersome nuisance. It’s so much work & no desirable results. I simply take the time to really scrunch in sections while hair is soaked. This brush really seems to work best on 3b+. Im s1 who’s always going after that volume & there are several good products out there but aside from gel products containing flaxseed, I have 2 recommendations that are bomb af. 1 is Aveda confixor & the other is a bit more expensive (but worth it), it’s the L'ANZA Healing Oil Bounce Up Spray $30. The IGK Nordic Cotton spray gives almost untamed volume when sprayed on the roots just before diffusing too. But 1st I prime w/the IGK “Sold Out” priming spray for wavy/curly hair, then a tiny amount of AG Curl Recoil, then either the L’anza or Confixor. Then, after the cast is formed & hair is 85-90% dry, I spray IGK Nordic Cotton on the roots & diffuse. The results are fantastic. My hair weighs down easily but I do need moisture (especially bcz my hair has highlights). But once the dryness &/or frizz is taken care of using product - I go after that sexy volume. I don’t like when my curl clumps are TOO thick & separated bcz the curl clumps look too heavy & basically just drip dried - it’s not a pretty look on me. I want full, voluminous, springy curls & this is how I achieve it!

Beautiful work. Does the scalp area not have to be dry to support the curl? And what about a shine spray after your done? Excellent video.

My hair dries super slow, so I can't dry the roots first. I just apply less product to my roots and if I let it air dry then I root clip. If I go straight into diffusing I just diffuse upside down. I don't use any shine spray as oil just sit on my hair.

My hair is strangely the same length and curl pattern as yours and on top I have the same part but to get more volume after only diffusing about 5 minutes I flip my hair on top over to the opposite side that I usually part it then hop in the car going to work and crack the windows and blast some warm heat (or cool air if it's summer time lol) and let the wind blow dry it the rest of the way and when I get to work I flip my hair back over to the natural part line and VOILA 👌🥰😘 HUGE volume!!!!! I do spray a tiny amount of root lifter in the front on roots before I did the diffusing too so it helps but do not over-saturate it lol

My hair looks awful when I do it, great after I get it trimmed. This is the closest I've seen to how they style it when it's trimmed, the root clips was a helpful bonus.

I have 2C curls. As soon as a brush my wet hair out of the shower, my curls break up and get frizzy af. Hoping this will work. A defuser on my Dyson also frizzes my hair. I tend to braid my hair when it's wet and then take my braids out. The only thing that doesn't frizz my hair
