They say to do what you like doing and make what you yourself want. I was a dedicated Aldus user for a couple of years until Adobe bought PageMaker and FreeHand and killed them. I was a Photoshop user for almost as long (since about the time Ps 2.5 came out). I still have a copy of the Creative Design Suite CS5 (Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign) on my old first edition MacBook1,1. A few years ago when I was complaining about Adobe's CS subscription model, a photographer friend of mine pointed out I could just get just Photoshop and Lightroom for $10 a month like he was doing. I have no use for Lightroom but it would be nice to have a current copy of Photoshop. So, for the first time in my life, I was actually paying for my copy of Photoshop! But that lasted about seven months when Affinity Photo came out and I was convinced it could most of what I always did in Photoshop. I was already delighted using Affinity Designer and wasn't actually using Photoshop enough for me to justify the monthly subscription. Then I got the beta of Affinity Publisher. I've been all Affinity ever since and have never looked back. I still have the CS5 Design Suite on my MacBook where it works just as well as it ever has. Good luck with your subscription service. BackBlaze and Apple Music (Oh, and AppleTV+, Disney+, Hulu and Netflix, in that order) are the only subscriptions I've found that actually pull their weight with me. As long as eps, gif, svg, png, tiff, jpeg and of course pdf are standards, we can all share content these days. I've seen a lot of provocative tutorials for Pixelmator, GIMP and Krita. If you want to go back to spending money on Adobe, go ahead. There's just too much bad blood between them and me to want to have to deal with them again.

I'm really into making stuff like this. I don't quite know how to make a "pack" just yet, but once I get my current project caught up I want to team up with you on this site!! BTW, that black CMYK trick you taught me worked great! C40 and K100.. I got my publisher's copy and it looked awesome!! So thanks again! Also, big thanks for all the live streams you did in affinity!! I uploaded 3 books without any kdp error flags : ) you are the man!!

@@DaveConrey Hey Dave, I got a question for ya about affinity.. is there a way to save a master page template so that it can be added to a series of different books? I'm trying to have them all have the same master pages but add the master layout after the book is finished because it tends to slow down affinity when I have the Master applied first. Any ideas?

@@DaveConrey I figured it out. Well, I figured out a way to do it. You'd think they'd let you save the Master template tho..

Personally, I tried so hard to use Affinity and ditch Adobe but in the end especially when it came to Illustrator there were so many pieces I needed and also when interacting with clients that used Adobe. In watching your videos over the years and other people watching Adfinity resource videos my conclusion is Affinity Designer is more for true Illustrators than graphic designers. I agree with you that the workflow of Affi ity is so nice but really trying to understand why Affinity after repeatedly saying they are doint it never implemented anything close to a shape builder or other such items. Anyways best to you and continued success.

I’m also a bit unsure why they haven’t made more strides toward that.

@@DaveConrey The saddest thing about that is with Apple Silicon I have a MacBook Air with only 8 gb memory I can run the Creative Cloud actually very smoothly affinity is like a rocket ship. I’ve read a couple articles why that is where Adobe is on some old platform where infinity is just so much cleaner. That being said I just wish they would make a finity designer even just the shape tool the shaped builder tool and a couple other things it would be perfect but the things really make it hard to do quite a few things that I need to

Not at all. I will likely do most of my own work in Affinity, truthfully. I do like the workflow better, especially with Publisher. I just may incorporate some things from Adobe when I can't do them in Affinity.

Traitor! Just joking mate. Adobe and Affinity can co-exist nicely on the same computer or in the same Business so good luck with the new venture.
