Plenty of room on KZread for high quality golf content. It isn’t like television. With TV, they’re basically competing for time slots, for a single view. When I open KZread, I LOVE having tons of good content to watch. I actually watch wayyyy more KZread golf, than I do golf tournaments on TV. Keep it up boys. Rick will be just fine. Haha

I think when you look at it as a whole, if you take the content of the videos away (challenges, vs. pro's, etc.), you're essentially watching for the content creators themselves. It's the same concept as watching streamers for gaming, where you're more invested in the streamer themself (MOST of the time) than the games they play. But ironically, just a few hours ago Nate Rick released a playing golf left handed video... which of course Brad Dalke did just a few weeks ago. I don't ever see golf creators copying each other necessarily, but more or less seeing how their audiences respond to that particular content and just running with it.

I completely agree. Every golf creators plays 3, 6, 9, or 18 holes per vid - sometimes with a little twist (guest or interesting handicap of some sort). Sometimes shortgame vids, etc. But it really is the Personality that brings it home sometimes. And on your other point, @GolfSidekick did a break 100 Left Handed 3 years ago and still does vids with him competing against himself playing leftie. And even he probably isn't original I assume. The real thing is you do actually enjoy some CREATORS more than others - even if they are repeating the same twists. Interesting!

Rick has tons of subs because he’s been around literally forever. The problem with Rick is he’s just not a good enough golfer and doesn’t seem to be improving. Lack of skill is fine if you’re full of personality like Bob, Bubbie, Steve, etc… It’s hard to watch someone take their game so seriously when they don’t have a serious game. Forget taking tips from Rick when he’s consistently shooting mid 80’s. No hate on Rick, it’s just everybody else has stepped their KZread game way up and Rick has stayed stagnant.

It's the beginning of the end. Rick did accelerate head of Pete, and Pete went rather stale. When Rick hit 1m Pete was struggling for 250k. Now that Pete is one of the best youtube golfers on ability, plus superb editing and content, he's accelerating too. There's only too many times you can watch Rick mess up a break 75 before it becomes boring, I don't watch them anymore for that reason!

  • @MrBoker69

There is a finite amount of ideas for golf videos. Once you have seen all of them, boredom sets in. In my opinion, once the youtube golfers get sponsors, it goes downhill from there. What would really be nice is to go back to a bunch of buddies playing golf and having fun. We can watch pro golfers on tv.

Sergio and Rahm aern't just playing youtubers for the fun or out of the kindness of thier hearts...its all business boys...well duh haha ..we all know that....exactly the same as the PGA players...there promoting on you tube to win hearts and minds!!!

Grant has "copied" Rick on a number of series. No sirprise really, the guy has been a walking blueprint for a while. But hes not copying per se, its all just similar stuff. The best take in this video is acknowledgement of short hit versus long stay popularuty growth in video views. Thats a massive difference between the content creators approach and their go to markwt strategy, but also a representation of their audiences.

I think the disconnect and the misunderstanding between these guys is similar to everyone comparing Tiger and Scottie and it's not a fair comparison. Rick has put in the time and has been grinding at the KZread thing for a while. Grant has blown up because of when he started his KZread channel. When Rick first started, KZread itself did not have that many followers, much less golfers. Grant has benefited from the fact that golf is way more popular now than it was 7-8 years ago. So it's not a fair comparison in my opinion. Which brings me to my point about Tiger and Scottie. Tiger turned golf upside down because of his talent. He sent shock waves through the golf world . I will never take away any credit from him for how he changed the sport. But tiger was in a league of his own. It was like watching a rabbit in a turtle race. That is not the same for Scottie. Because of Tiger and technology, the amount of talent is on Tour/ LIV is nothing close to what Tiger was competing with back in the day. Scottie is a rabbit in a turtle race but there are also other rabbits in the race. That's the analogy I can apply to the golf world now. Professional or KZread.
