Catching Golfers LYING about their Handicap

Ойын-сауық

We went to the range and asked a random golfer what his handicap was and then made him PROVE it. Should we make this a series?

    Will have to stop by Hermitage for sure and play there now. Just down the road in The Boro area. Remember guys handicap is based off your best 8 rounds out of 20. So you can shoot in the 70s a few times, then 80s and 90s and it won't effect your HC. Great video. Cheers...

    Handicap is a measure of your potential. Not what you are shooting every time you go out. Your handicap also changes based on the tees your are playing and the slope and rating for those tees. Example, I am 65 years old, from the old guy(5600 yds) tees I am a 2 HCP, from the member tees (6150 yds) I am a 5 HCP and the blue tees (6800 yds) I am a 7. From our tips at 7300 yds I am a 12 HCP. Most people don’t know the difference between an index and a handicap. Your handicap is based off of your index and changes on each course and for each tee box.

  • @nathanwoods1927
    @nathanwoods1927Ай бұрын

    Yeah handicap is based on an index which takes into account tees played and difficulty of course. More specifically how you score on certain holes too. It’ll calculate a differential based on that data. Your handicap is based on your last 8 of 20 best round differentials. So generally a 2.8 handicap will probably shoot around 80 from the tips consistently, a good round mid 70s and a bad round mid 80s

    There are factors that determine this stuff. First of all your handicap is based on your like top 40% or so of rounds. Your absolute worst rounds really don’t matter for your handicap. It also depends on things like slope and course rating. A course with an average slope rating and a course rating that is equal to par would mean that an average of 3 over par in say 4 of 10 rounds played would put your handicap like right at 3. Also a player that can shoot like -2 one day and +5 the next day on the same course could easily have the same handicap as a guy who consistently shoots 1-2 over.

    I'm a 3.0 but the handicap system is based on your POTENTIAL so if you have some really low rounds & then hack up others they toss those out. The problem with a lot of players is they just don't get those lower rounds thus very high handicaps. I added up my last 21 rounds as far as handicaps per round then divided by 21 & I am actually a 9 handicap if they didn't base it on potential. It's all about having breakthroughs so if you shoot in the high 90's you're going to need just a couple rounds in the 80's to bring it way down.

    @@darylhoskins5696 I’ve eagled two different holes twice each. Making an eagle requires a strong drive and an accurate and strong second shot. The difficulty of the putts vary. I don’t personally know anybody else that has made an eagle. And I’ve had many people say that they don’t know anybody that has made an eagle. Nobody has told me they know anybody that has made one. I do know this one little guy who rarely hits a driver much past 200 yards that made a hole in one. He has zero chance of ever making an eagle. He made a hole in one once. Sure, the better golfer you are the greater your chances bc your dispersion pattern is smaller. And if you want to call that skill, well, go for it. But luck will do it just as well. Me? At 70 and getting out of the hospital tomorrow after a month long stay for rotator cuff surgery, my chances of another eagle are limited to only a couple of par 5s. Learn how the handicap system works before trying to make the guy (who seems a legit 2.8) seem like he is lying. GM Golf is a +2 handicap which is way better than a 2.8

    Guys great videos, but you need to realize that your Handicap is what you can BEST score on you latest rounds. I’m a 3.9, it happens for me too shoot over 80 quite often actually. When you see pros are like +5 and you see them shooting 2 or 3 over par doesn’t mean they are 3 handicapers. Also to let you understand being a 3.9 a going for 2.8 like he his will take me time and a lot of practice! However I went from 10 to 7 after 8 rounds ( abt 1 month). I know a 1.2 handicaper who struggles a lot to come to 0 and he’s trying since 1 year lol

    What do you mean about 2.8 is a specific number, In my country literally everybody knows their exact hcp :D like 90% of people know it on the dot. And u actually can ask other players for a advice IF they are in same team with u, like you in the scramble cuz its a different format of the game. And also as u said "iam allowed to tell you and you are not allowed to ask is also wrong. Because IF someone ask u, he has penalty, and if u respond to him, you both get penalty. PS. IF YOU RLY WANT TO KNOW WHAT CLUB SOMEONE USED, WAIT TO ANOTHER HOLE OR ON THE GREEN AND U CAN ASK FREELY BECAUSE IT WONT HELP YOU ANYMORE.

    These guys don't understand how handicaps work. It's calculated using your 8 lowest rounds out of the 20 most recent. A player only shoots to their handicap 20%-25% of the time.

    2.8 is not 2 or 3 bogeys per round, unless you are playing very easy courses. Even then unlikely. 2.8 is probably an average score of 77-79, which is then adjusted for slope.

    Technically.....There is a rule (Rule 14-2b) that prohibits a player’s caddie or "partner" (your playing partner in the video) from standing directly behind the player when the player is preparing to make a stroke, which includes both putting and full swings. So all those times you stand behind watching the putt of your teammate to get a read...you can stand to the side and then get over to watch... 🤣 In casual play...I don't really care. But in a tournament....I start to care.

    I’m not sure you understand the handicap system. You aren’t expected to shoot your handicap each time you play. It’s a measure of your capability, but golfers only shoot their handicap about 25% of the time. I’ve found that if you take the handicap and add 3 strokes, that’s about what they will shoot on average.
