Quick question do you put something under the where theres no girp strip

When you are up against a wall to start, you cut off the grip strip that is overhanging on the piece you are working with. You proceed with the install and when you get to the opposite wall you cut where needed. So you will never have a piece of grip strip hanging off the end without something under it.
