    Very cool review. I smile every time I get into my 2012 TSX Sport Wagon. With 72k on the clock, it drives and feels like a brand new car, and certainly exceeds the build quality of any Hondas I have owned since my first Prelude in 1983. Navi while not great is workable, sound system is very capable and the interior is really comfortable. Great video Liam! We had this offered in a 6MT as the 2.4L I4 Acura TSX in Canada. Essentially, a more premium Accord. However, its appeal to enthusiasts was dwarfed by that for the Acura TL which from 2008-2013 was offered with a 6MT, 3.7L V6 and Acura's sought after SH-AWD system (especially for our winters). It made 305HP and 273lbft of torque! Those were some good years for Honda enthusiasts here in North America :) Love the videos, please keep up the great work!

    It's fantastic...with a manual. I did not like the automatic in my CU1. Because the gears were too long, and the downshifting was inconsistent. For just coasting around though, what it was made for, the AT is alright. But it takes all of the fun out of the car, so if that's what you want, get a manual.

    Hi Liam. Glad you enjoy the Accord Euro CU2. I have myself the 2012 Lux. Navi in AU, bought from the 1st owner back in 2016, just 20K on the odometer! Now it's nearly 120K and still perform very well. The factory setting is a little bit sluggish in my opinion but it becomes very responsive after the ECU reflashed. So the throttle response is instant. I'm using the S mode all the time to compensate my dissatisfaction of the auto transmission only option for Lux. Navi. Another thing is the pinging/rattle sound around rpm 2.0-2.7K while uphill with load or cruising. Wondering if you experience it as well since as I'm aware that issue has been fixed by Honda post facelift version.

    Fully agree about the open road being where these models have found their home. My Tourer N used to regularly hail from Auckland to Tauranga every couple of weeks sitting at around 6-6.5 l/100km. You can really sit comfortably for a few hours without any issues in the seats. Stereo in this is pretty epic, though I agree the N-spec nav unit isn’t its finest feature, and really shows its age now. The import versions to have the advantage with the lane assist options but lack the heated seats which is a dealbreaker for my partner 🤣. Have to say that this series of accord also has the most reliable sunroof I’ve ever owned on a vehicle, most of them pack up will start to leak at some stage, but mine has been functional and firm for 13 years! About the only gripe I have is the lack of automatically retracting mirrors and auto door locking on nz versions but minor woes. It’s a pity they discontinued them, would love to see an accord, especially a tourer in a modern style.

    I think this model of accord euro are the best out of all of the variants. I recently purchased a 2011 accord euro CU2 luxury 6speed manual and it is hands down the best car I’ve ever owned in 35 years of car ownership. I scored a modulo upgrade body kit that came with it and I’m now in the process of modifying it to how I would like it to be-Nice set of rims,headers and performance exhaust system,professional cold air intake and throttle body upgrade ( not a cheap ass ebay one ),flash tune and see how that goes for starters. I will end up rebuilding the K-24 Z3 for 300 hp then I can look at upgrading the gearbox and brakes. These cars are a tuners dream,the aftermarket support is incredible.

    I always wanted to drive the 2.2L diesel Accord (EUDM). They’re very hard to find in manual, even in the UK; but the automatic diesel models are also kinda hard to find, just less harder to find. I’m lucky to live in the US, where the USDM Honda Accord’s are loved in the V6 form. Most people, including me, will snatch up the manual models without hesitation. A lot of them are now really beat up and even harder to find in clean condition. But if you truly care for the car, you’ll go the lengths to properly rebuild and maintain it to restore the car to proper shape.

    I have a 2013 2.2 idtech manual (uk). The engine is almost petrol car quiet, pulls very well and the 6 speed manual is a gem (I believe it was taken from the S2000). It didn't sell very well in the UK probably due to being close to the price of the 3 series and A4 and the English will always go for the kerb appeal of a badge rather than refined reliable engineering.

  • @isnowyazn

    @isnowyazn

    Жыл бұрын

    @@garytreez I always wondered whether I would like an automatic or manual diesel, but I do like in the US, so most hardcore performance diesel setups are done on Dodge trucks with Cummins engines, etc. I do know that modern automatic transmissions are superior, but I would probably die for a diesel engine setup that was paired to a DCT automatic. Are the English really that sad about not getting “rice burner” imports, for the sake of face value? Jesus…. I’m Asian American, and yes, we’re known for going with Asian technology as well, but we’d theoretically go with American tech, if it wasn’t semi-problematic as well. Newer car manufacturing is starting to become problematic in tons of areas though. God forbid, some random patriotic American buys and supports a Japanese car maker, and they’re shit on for not acting “American”. I’m sure the same “logic” applies there in the UK, with all of the conservative right wing extremism politic stuff…. Anyhow, foreseeably, I will probably rely on Toyota/Lexus for a while, as they’ve always been reliable for me. I’m just not as familiar with their platforms.

    @garytreez

    @@isnowyazn the UK is very much about image in the main. They are not concerned that some of the Mercedes-Benz models have renault engine blocks for example, as long as the perception of driving a Mercedes is there. I have had many different makes/models over the years and will now only have toyota/lexus or Honda (my previous car was toyota that I handed down to my daughter). Also, my accord is made in Japan rather than in the UK honda factory. There are many perceptions and snobbery about cars here and some are correct e.g., BMW x5 or range rover may have drug dealing tags connected. Other bmws and Mercedes may have gypsy/Irish traveller connections where I live.

    Do these cars consume a lot of oil, I heard this guy had a oil hungry accord euro cu2 on the honda forums. Did you have any oil consumption issues with your previous accord cu2?

  • @CL9k24a3

    @CL9k24a3

    Cu2 had recall for bad piston rings so 1l every 1500km is not unusual... Depending on where you live that repair is free from the honda, also k24z3 likes to destroy it self with crank bearing failure and likes to eat exaust cam. And from what I see drive shafts and cv joints are even worse than on cl9 and are way to expensive to replace.

    @@CL9k24a3 in my experience these are very reliable cars, haven't seen any come into our Honda dealership with many issues at all. Yes the driveshafts will eventually go, and yes they can burn oil if not serviced well, but in general they are really good

    A note for anyone buying one of these cars, it is possible now to replace the navi system but it's not straightforward. There's not really an off the shelf harness available - there is a place in the USA who have developed one from the TSX (called Acura Audio Garage) but the wiring is slightly different. The amplifier in the boot's volume/balance/etc is controlled electronically from the factory head unit so if you just go ahead and splice wires in to send it a line-level signal, the volume is stuck at around 50%. I am currently in the process of replacing it in my car and I hope I will find a complete solution soon. Failing that you can rip out the factory amp and replace it but you need a rather expensive 6/8 channel unit with a DSP to get it working properly with all speakers.

    Brilliant review mate! Fortunate enough to have the 6 speed manual in luxury trim, fantastic car to drive with exciting dynamics for a big front wheel drive sporting a four cylinder. The only issue I have with my one is the interior trim. The door cards are all scratched up and there’s a tear in the leather on both front seats. I blame the previous owner though and not the build quality. They could do with a bit more grunt imo but they are brilliant for what they are. I’d have one a million times over before I stoop so low as to buy a Camry, Commodore or Falcon.
