Why I Love My 90's Cinelli ATB - Bike Mechanic Paul talks about this beauty of a bike.
Спорт
Paul takes us through this amazing bike. A 90's Cinelli ATB which, until he bought it a few years ago, had never been used. He introduces the components and explains the reasons he loves it so much. @CinelliBicyclesOfficial
Most of the parts on this bike are original 90's @RideShimano

My colleague has travelled around the world with old restored ATB's with 26ers. Bikepacking style installing a rack with Ortlieb mounts and all that. These bikes really do work wonders as all-arounders. I have one older Schwinn special Anniversay release bike, can't remember the frameset name or anything but it's double butted steel. It can fit like 2.4" tires so something ridiculous. My dad uses it as a winter bike these days fitted with Michelin Pilotsport 2.2 front and 2.35 on the rear, works a treat.

Sounds excellent! Must be nice being able to get wider tyres in the frame. Thanks for watching
You were right, I did like this tale of an old bike. I still use the term ATB for bikes with adjustable slotted rear drop outs .
Thank you Paul for this video. Cycling is my hobby, passion, joy etc. And I ride MTB or ATB from earlies 90's MArin, Team Marin, full XT once . I have made some changes, replaced old wheels (Araya and XT) with Mavic crossroads, put some slick Schwalbe on it, and after all this years, ride like dream. Every ride is pure joy. Regards from Bosnia.

Thanks so much for the lovely comment and this sounds great, so happy to hear of people who commit to these wonderful bikes 👍 Thanks for watching
I've never an ATB, always been a road bike aficionado, but that is a beautiful example.

Thank you! We love it and it really is beautiful. Thanks for watching
Love your enthusiasm for bikes and the fact rain doesn’t bother you, I also remember when they were called ATB’s. Thank you for the videos.

All of my rides are 90's Hardtails with 26 inch wheels. I always have parts and still have parts I acquired in the 90's

That is a spicy beauty right there. Who would have thought a 90s ATB would be so saucy! I want one! Love it Veloworks, keep em coming ;)

Spicy and Saucy! Haha get yourself one!
I took an 80s Univega like this in stock and mostly original form down a pretty medium but very rocky single track trail and ate shit so badly I couldn’t walk for days. Bike only needed a front wheel true 👍
Hi your Cinelli great bike (unusual). I have a 1992 Raleigh Ogre "Titanium" frame with rigid fork. Plus a 1991 Saracen Frenzy totally different, alloy frame and Rock Shox Judy suspension fork. Used in turn most weeks. I do have a modern gravel bike. Enjoy your channel thanks for sharing 👍

If you know you know. This is the period of time Marin were making the best bikes they ever made. They were really at the top of their game. Everytime we see a Bear Valley or similar we LOVE IT - they are beautiful bikes - how lucky you are!
I could never understand why 26" wheels fell out of favour. I've been commuting and touring on the same 26" wheel Dawes 1-down for 23 years. A bit of an oddity - only sold for a year in 1999 - a drop bar bike that has mountain bike geometry and gear - in other words, a gravel bike! Hardly anyone bought one (the Galaxy was what everyone wanted at the time) and I got it cheap, in a previous-year stock sale. I've never found a better riding or more comfortable bike, and it's simplicity means it's ultra-reliable. I've only ever seen one other 'in the wild' - at a nearby bike shop owned by a member of staff (who found it in a barn) who reckons it's one of the best bikes they've ever ridden, and they sell top end gravel bikes, so that's high praise. Sourcing good tyres is becoming difficult now, and rims likewise. The 26" wheels mean loads of clearance for luggage - whether traditional panniers or with modern bikepacking kit, and I've done group rides with people on expensive gravel bikes and not felt like I'm struggling to keep up.
My main commuter/forest-road-rider is a late 80s ('86?) Specialized Rockhopper. I've redone the cockpit with 50cm wide drop bars and put bar end shifters on. It is really a blast to ride and fits me surprisingly well given how much I changed the setup. My brother scored a early 90s Rockhopper and made the same conversion to drop bars. That thing is absolutely amazing. I believe it's one of the last high-quality steel MTBs from Specialized with oversized True Temper steel tubing. It's about as light as a comparable era road bike now. There is a couple from the Netherlands that has done a lot of world traveling by bike. One of them has a early 90s MTB/ATB that he restored for touring, video here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/jJqkrdxmgMfMaco.html

They both sound like amazing frames! Thanks for sharing the link, will check them out.
Oh boy I had a Fausto Coppi with Altec tubing and a carbon fork. Nicknamed it the ass rattler. Sounds like this is a better application of the aluminum tubing than a road bike. Nice find

Yes if thats an aluminium road bike from a similar period I can imagine they weren't the most comfortable of beasts! Great nickname! Thanks for watching 🙂
The only problem with 26" is that nice, good quality (folding) tyres are almost non existant. Sure you got some ok to good wire bead but not trully good to great atb tyres bellow 2" (higher you got MTB tyres, tho) Ended up putting 27,5" on mine plus nice 47mm gravel tyres and it is very sweet indeed

Yes agree, that’s the problem with the industry pushing other standards. It means that some really good traditional standards get left behind. Thanks for commenting 👍
Hi! Just a question for you, what size is the headset? I've found the same model as yours on ebay, but from the photos it seems 1-1/8 headset, while yours seems to have a traditional 1" threaded

my son rides a 92 Swatch, A promo bike from the Barcelona olympics. Apparently only a 1000 were made but I can't find any real info about them. Tange steel,, Japan made originally had DX groupset, now sadly gone. Also sadly he's rapidly outgrown the 15in frame
