It’s a great pedal but too smart for me!

Just bought one of these. I don't have any experience with delays so I'm hoping it will be a good introduction to see what I like. Thanks for the video!

You make a very good point with that 'Quasimodo' comment. These kind of pedals, if you're not careful, can become very self-indulgent. I remember years ago using a rack delay and you could play a couple of notes, go downstairs, make a cup of tea, watch a bit of telly, have a nap and then go back upstairs and it would still be doing something. You can do so much with them, you wonder if you may as well buy a synth. I have a 'cheapo' one and if get a sound I like, I photo the buttons as I can never remember how I got there or understand what's happening. Usually sounds crap the next day anyway.

I own this pedal and while yes, it is a bit annoying at first to get the hang of it. Its really not that difficult dialing in settings on the fly once you know how it works. I can make adjustments, or get the exact settings i had yesterday blind folded. All you have to remember is pressing the center button once to enter/exit the secondary feature mode. Its basically the same thing if this pedal came with 2 more knobs that were the 'additional features'. You're just pressing a button then making the adjustments. And honestly once you've got it down, you really start to appreciate and love those secondary options. It's IMO what makes this pedal better than others in its price range. The DMM setting alone is worth the price

I hear good things about that one!

For some reason, pedals from brands like EHX, DigiTech, Maxon, etc spend more time on my shelf than they do on my board. They are nice pedals, but they just never seem to be good enough to knock off the other pedals I have for similar functions. But for some reason I keep them rather than selling them, like I’m just waiting for the one day I might need a less awesome pedal. I’m weird. 😂

Not me! I’m going to gather some of these pedals that came off the board and sell them. Generate some money to buy cool things for the channel! My first pedals were DOD btw !

I got rid of mine because the external tap tempo was unreliable. I had to try several times to get just the right delay time (and yes I was using the proper tap switch). Switched to the BOSS DD-8 and although I miss the breakup of the tape delay and a little more modulation in my MOD setting, it's just more reliable without all the sub-menu stuff. Pedals are supposed to be WYSIWYG.

You should try the Hydra.. I still cant figure out everything it can do. Im a set it and forget it kind of guy. Its just way too complicated for my aging xGen brain. I just want to kick it on, and play. I don’t want to think about it so much.

I love mine, but I do get that it's almost too versatile. I've used it as an octave pedal, reverb, rough looper, and more...but never more than one of those things simultaneously.

@@GearGasms I guess it depends how you use it. It's not that different than most delays in a similar price range. The "trickiest" part is the font size on the modes and knowing what the subdivision colors are. I doubt too many people would need to tweak secondary functions mid set. Those should be treated as set and forget.

I jammed with an acoustic player who had this pedal. I loved the shimmer so much that I had to get this pedal. Once I got the pedal, I grew to hate it. There are too many options for me, and I just make the pedal sound bad
