Being at peace within myself and with my surrounding...not conforming to the standards of society's definition of "the good life" and being absolutely ok with that...being present in the moment and taking it all in while expressing gratitude...simplicity and a slow paced life.

The good life is being able to enjoy my family and my hobbies. It is being able to find what is valuable. It is about leaving a legacy through my kindness, love, and sense of conversation with those around me. It is being able to enjoy nature and quality time with others in it. The Good Life has so much more involved with it.

The "good life" is the "little things" in life that make it all worth while. Like a good conversation, the smell of a brand new 7:32 book, rain on a roof top, a cup of coffee or tea. I try to be in the present. No one is promised tomorrow. It's amazing that when you have so little, how happy you actually are. Much love ❤ coffee or tea. 7:32

🌱 “ The Good Life” for me is forever changing and evolving as I grow 🌱 When I was younger , it was money in the bank, trying to be a “ Boss” in my career, obsessed with not being a young black woman statistic… NOW, my goodness it’s changed … it’s laying on couch with kids, laughing , board games, moving slow and intentional ,making tea every night before prayer n bible study…

No social media for the last 10 months has changed my life. Neither of us have it and I will never got back. Also, we rarely watch the news. Hi, Madisun. The "good life" for me is watching my 2 little boys run through my garden, seeing my neighbor's new calves, and having my children say, "Mama, look how pretty the sunset is today." And knowing, like clockwork, my husband will be home from work every evening at the same time. 🥰

As a Born-Again Christian I enjoy Sunday as a day of rest Growing up in the 60 's and 70's stores were closed on Sundays ,drugstores were open for a few hoursto fill prescriptions or purchase OTC medicines Now there is such a rush especially our kids People sending 18 minth olds for ballet lessons ,to me is heartbreaking . I homeschooled my 6 kids and I truly enjoyed it Even aftery kids could read themselves we had a nightly ritual of reading to them and listening to stories on cassette tapes narrated by JimWeiss. We had teatime in the afternoon, I feel blessed to habe had the priveledge of teaching my kids . Unfortunately I didn't know about mi imalism when my kids wer home , but people wouldcome into our home and say they would have thought there would have been more toysfor 6 kids. My kids now in their 20's and 30"s wouldtell you themselvesthere was no shortage of toys . We had 11 acres where they climbed trees, built forts and went sliding. They spemt many hours playing outdoors and doing outdoor chores up here in Maine

You are spot on, and I wish everyone could see this video. Unfortunately, most people aren't ready to receive this message, but my hope is one day they will. I'm 48 yrs old. I chose to get married when I was 20 and start my family at 22. Having a healthy marriage, and having children, were my 2 most important things I wanted in my life. Then AND now. I was 16, and I told my husband (then boyfriend) that I WILL be a stay-at-home mom and raise my own children. All the way through their high school years when we are needed even more. He knew I was serious, and he was OK with that. I don't regret a thing, I didn't miss out on anything, and I did my best. I wasn't perfect, but I tried my hardest. My children are grown, and my marriage is wonderful because we work hard on it EVERY day. We love God and He is the center of our lives. Life is beautiful. Not perfect, not easy, but beautiful. There is nothing more important in this world than relationships. First with God, secondly with spouse, thirdly with kids, then other family and friends. I did fall to consumerism, to spending too much time on social media, too much TV, etc. It happens. I'm a few months into fixing these things. Decluttering, not shopping nearly as much, no social media (just a few KZread videos that align with my goals and values), only a little bit of TV, cancelled Netflix and cable, trying to get better with Bible study, etc. And to all that need to hear this.....go easy on yourself. No negative self talk. You are precious, and I hope you treat yourself in that way.

To me the good life, is having friends to dinner at the last minute, painting with my kids at the end of my work day, saying no to keeping my work email on my phone, a membership to the art museum, waking up an hour early not to be more productive but to read, drink coffee and sit in the quiet. Thank you for every video Madi. You are the brightest spot on the internet.

Agree agree agree! We are so conditioned to be busy and distracted that we don’t pay attention to our Creator and all the awesome “slow” things around us… the breeze in the trees, the little games our children make up, the sun reflecting off dragonflies at sunset, the sound of the water rushing by in the creek, and so on. Love that you point out such wonderful things to be mindful of! ❤

Dear Madi, my fav childhood memories are the ones of the days spent at home, in our tiny balcony, with my family, just chilling, talking and being together, no rush, no places to have to go to... little i knew that those were the times my parents were struggling financially the most and the being at home with "nothing to do" was a result of that!! The power of homemaking and parenting... i never knew we had "limitations"❤

Yay! I get to comment first! The good life for me has been realizing how important having family close by is. I think we are conditioned to think that after high school you go away and don’t come back home unless it is during special occasions, birthdays, or funerals. Living at home while I completed college and until I got married was a very strange concept to many of my peers as a young woman. Now I live only 30 minutes away from my mom and siblings and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Love this perspective shift Madi!

Again, obsessed with your videos please never stop making content! I started my minimalism Journey 7-8 years go, and am forever changed. I was a shopaholic, & obsessed with the thrill of spending. Fast forward to today, I barely own anything not to try and see how little I can own but because of the freedom and ease it brings me everyday (getting dressed, cooking, cleaning, momhood) makes everything so much quicker and simpler. Getting rid of things has caused me to buy less and learn contentment which has lead to paying off mounds of debt. Your videos keep me encouraged to keep going on this journey! This lifestyle will never bring complete peace bc only Jesus can do that, but this lifestyle sure helps in so many ways! Thank you Madi!!!

5 years ago, my life came a full stop. I had to prioritize, without much choice, but those limitation pushed me to my ultimate freedom. I am trying to teach my teenage such that he is enough because we are in the time of after high school and possible college? time. He is an academic achiever and swimmer and yet feels he is not doing enough. I have had to teach him to slow down, take a day, be a little bored and you know what happened yesterday? He picked up his pencils and started to draw again. I also have kept him off social media and he doesn't care for it at all. Yep, small victories. I am in transition too, as this time comes to an end and new adventures await. I am, again, looking at and thinking about new priorities, because my needs and routines are changing. I am finding my good life is defined as I want to simplify as much as I can, looking at an off grid cabin with a small studio space for me to create. I've been binge watching your videos to get ideas for a major wardrobe declutter and I am challenging myself to single ingredient foods, that can be married into wonderful dishes. And I am learning to make a simple bread recipe. smothered with homemade herb butter. That's my right now good life.

I agree with what you said about marriage! God has used my husband and marriage to change me into a completely different and better person. I think more people would find this joy in marriage if they stopped trying to make it about how happy the other person can make them… and more about how God can use you to love and serve the other person. That’s just my two cents. Spending each day with my husband, dogs, and in the garden is the good life for me. Great video!

At this point in time, with adjusting to a newborn and a new routine, I am just taking things one day at a time and seeing what I can do. My life is pretty boring, yet when people find out what I do at home in a day, they think that I am doing so much and they don't know how I do it. I don't feel like I am doing that much and feel lazy haha. I am not one who likes sitting still, so it is weird to do so now while in a healing process for my body and adjustment stage for my baby. Love your videos as usual. It is weird to think that people feel getting married and having kids are limitations.

As I tried to get 4g on my phone outside on my gazebo (frustratingly unable to connect it to the internet.) I heard God say to me, "Trade your phone for THIS. Consume all that I have created." I looked up and trees were blowing in the wind, birds were chirping, my kids were chasing each other and laughing, and I was swinging on that gazebo swing. Never took my phone outside on the gazebo again.

As my three daughters were growing up, I was very intentional about practicing the concept of creating margins of time in our days. That meant not trying to do everything when they were in middle school and high school. It involved ensuring they had time to do things like create/paint/draw, take a nap, read a book, etc. To do something or nothing! My goal was to help them - once they were away at college or on their own - recognize when their margins were being squeezed. Now that they are in their early 30s, it is a tool which helps them live balanced lives.

Hi Madi, I live in Australia, I am 58, I have decluttered my home and life and love watching these types of content. I feel like when I speak to some people, and they say how busy they are, running from this to this and that, that I almost feel guilty having a slow life and that I should be running too. Don't get me wrong, on the days I work at a school three days per week, I am very busy, but when I am in the playground on lunch duty, I don't scroll my phone like some do, I watch the kids, I bring their attention to rocks and butterflies and birds, etc. We live in a country town and there are horses in the paddock next door to the school and Australian lyrebirds come into the school grounds. I will throw the ball with the kids also and have realised as I get older, how quickly time flies. My main thing is having this guilt that I need to be as busy as everyone else or I am not contributing. When in reality I don't have to! Best wishes to you.xxx

I love this so much, Madi! Your content is so encouraging, and I praise God for all the wisdom He has given you to share with others. Thanks again for another great video! You’ve encouraged me to be a better steward of what God has given me, so our family started an herb, fruit, and vegetable garden in our yard about a month ago when I first found your chanel. It’s hard work, but it’s going great! The best part is how God is using it to help me grow in my patience and desire to work joyfully with my hands. For me, the “good life” is definitely being a homeschool family. All the time my kids and I have to make all our meals from scratch, eat all our meals together, cuddle and connect in the mornings before starting school, and being able to choose what and how I teach my kids are so much more valuable than all the money in the world. ❤ God bless you and your wonderful family!

I found you from the Clutter Bug podcast with Cass. I've been on a journey to a more simple life, and when you said "slow life", that really resonated with me. Everything you say I agree with, it makes me excited to see what your other videos are about! And it was fun to see that you've dumbed down your smart phone, I just did that a couple weeks ago and it's already changed my life. I already enjoy simple moments more and feel less "ADD". I feel less overwhelmed and stressed and rushed, and I've also read multiple books when I used to say I don't have the time. I have been waking up early and going bed early. I feel more in control of my life and finances and where I'm going. There really is something to the simple, slow life.

As I watch this after I just finished cleaning up dinner that we ate outside as a family....the good life is looking into my backyard while my boys wrestle on the trampoline, while my husband is building another raised garden bed for our expanding backyard garden! God is so good. There is so much beauty all around us. We just need to slow down and take the time to actually appreciate it. Thanks always for your beautiful reminders and content!

I just discovered your channel and subscribed. The Good Life for me is trying release myself from various activities that seem to keep my life going in a direction where I’m so focused on others’ needs. Unfortunately every time I’ve tried, sometimes something comes along to keep me from doing something for myself.

Pretty sure it was Leonard Bernstein who said, “Chains make you free.” The constraints of a sonnet, of a sonata, of a 24-hour day unleash all sorts of gratitude and creativity.

Beautiful video 😌 the “good life” to me is having the joy and peace that only a relationship with the Lord can bring, having a close church family, taking family walks in the evening, eating ice cream and watching a show with my husband, watching our baby girl learn new things, and having family dinners with our parents and siblings.

@MadisunGray The good life to me is waking up, and being thankful to God for my blessings, spending time in his word in the early morning hours and savoring those promises throughout the day. Taking time to ensure my body is cared for, stretching, going on walks with my love, and spending as much quality time with family as possible. Love all your inspiration and the sound of your voice and the way you lead your family, thanks for being such a positive uplifting place for me to visit, listen, learn, and smile. Appreciate you.

Hi Madisun ❤ I’ve been watching so many of your videos lately, often starting my day with a little inspiration from you. I just wanted to let you know how much I’ve truly been enjoying your channel. The “Good Life” to me is homeschooling my children. It was the best decision I made 7 years ago. Being able to be present with my children over these years has been one of the best life decisions I’ve made. In fact, I wished I’d done it sooner. I originally had my older children in public school, and I didn’t even question that there were other ways to live. Now I question everything that society “expects”, and I’ve never been happier. ☺️

Yes!! There is such joy, beauty, and freedom in limitations. You offered some I hadn't thought of before, which I think will be helpful to me moving forward. One limitation I like to set for myself is no news, current events, emotionally burdensome podcasts, etc during school breaks. I happened upon this by accident last year, and I noticed that I felt so much more relaxed and present. So now I set that limitation for myself on purpose during breaks.

Where’s the LOVE button?!?! I am retired Navy and one of my duties was working on Funeral Honors details. At these funerals, I would present the triangle folded flag to the veteran’s next of kin. Before they receive this token of appreciation, they would tell stories and share their loved one’s legacy. It didn’t change much from person to person: family, God, community involvement, and their marriages were most important regardless of socioeconomic backgrounds. I have learned more working those details than most of the other experiences in my life. Living like this in our present day and age is achievable and a must in order to put what really matters into perspective.

I think that your videos introduced me to look into decluttering, and since I've started decluttering I can see how it was exactly what I have needed. It has helped me find solutions to things I have been procrastinating on like what to do with photos. I love how your videos are so calming and how you love the simple ordinary things in life, it's refreshing. It's true, our society makes us think we need more and to be consumers instead of being happy with what we already have. I agree limits are needed to be happier. Thank you for your videos!
