Why I don't buy the Lost Galaxy Megazords (Power Rangers Season 7 1999)
Ойын-сауық
1999: A new world for Power Rangers. But not one I'm interested by. There's plenty of reasons why you shouldn't bother with the Lost Galaxy zords - from scale problems, to pieces either missing or easily lost, it's the first year that's more trouble than it's worth for fans of the show who value screen accuracy.
Timecodes to teleport along:

Where to buy them
The Gingaman and Lost Galaxy zords are over 20 years vintage! You'll need to look online or at cons for either a 2nd hand or (expensive) mint in box versions. Good luck!

Not gonna lie, I quite like the Centaurus and Stratoforce. They may not combine, but they do look good together, and being a bit of an aviation nerd, a Megazord themed to a bird and composed entirely of jets is right up my alley.

Same, I like them and also only own them form lost galaxy at the moment.
I can understand why you didn't get these zords but personally I love this line. Your opinions on these zords are valid and are similar to my opinions on the Kirameiger zords. They are neat on their own but they're too small for the price and none of them combine with each other.

I really like Lost Galaxy, since the 1st time I saw it as a kid. Magna Defender and Lights of Orion Arc was really good, even if a little stretched. Karone redemption was very good. And it + the awesome crossover episodes made the season very cohesive with In Space. I also really liked Leo and Mike relation. Lastly, Trakeena was a pretty good villain imo. I like that she had a personnal arc through the season

I thought that season was pretty good. The zords where interesting, being cosmic beasts then transforming into machines was intriguing to me. The Shark, Phoenix, and Rhino transformations are a hot mess. Regardless I loved these as a kid. Not as much as Lightspeed ;)
I personally love these zords so I am interested to hear his thoughts. I probably will agree with them, but I still love them.
I always thought the megazords of this season were a mixed bag. Like Bandai literally had a bag of ideas and decided to use all of them at the same time.
You managed to give us a “review” but also a nice editorial piece on these zords and your feelings on them as a whole. Well done.
The Tarozord is pretty cool. Reminds me of Ninjor in some ways.
I loved the Galaxy Megazord and Torozord, both as design and as being standalone zords. No fear of missing a combination by not getting any other zord, like no Mega Dragonzord for you, when you’re not getting both Megazord and Dragonzord. The three Lost Galactabeasts on the other hand didn’t do me much. Only slapping a picture of a fantasy beast on some vehicles in the show doesn’t make them on par with the Galaxy Megazord’s Galactabeasts. Being destroyed by a suicide swarm Stingwingers made the duo look weak too. In the end, I’m happy to have a Galaxy Megazord, a black and white Gingai-Oh and the Bulltaurus with a complimentary Lights of Ginga set.
Ahh! Freak out moment for the black and gold light speed zords. Also you don't have wild force?! Truly it's biggest weakness is no formal Ultrazord but the quality of the toys is impeccable. The designs are so cool! I am riddled with that nostalgia though. Great video! Can't wait for more.
The Lost Galaxy and Ninja Falcon Megazord get a lot of critique and, understandable, as you say it is all fairly subjective but they still stand as some of my favourite Megazords of all time.
I really love the zords and would definitely buy these whenever they come to the minipla line. All of the zords lack the funability in them and are more fun for display. I really love Gingaman and Lost Galaxy. Great characters, great villains, great story, great action and great soundtrack. Both of them are my absolute favorite series of both franchises. I am going to get the japanese quasar saber (seijuken) and lights of orion (ginga no hikari) armor as well as the transdagger (jizaiken kiba) and transmorpher (ginga brace) for my Lost Galaxy/Gingaman Collection. I will definitely pick of every lightning collection figure that gets a release for my collection. If you haven't watched Gingaman yet, I really recommend watching it cause it is one of the best super sentai seasons ever.
Lost Galaxy basically is a turning point where after In Space, you can basically make anything you want with the series and Lost Galaxy was quite unique compared to its Japanese counterpart where it didn't follow tone to tone with what Gingaman had and made up its own story. Ironically,Gingaman translates to (Galaxy man) but the team never left Earth and it was more nature-based from what I've seen. 0_- I really got no clue what was going on in Gingaman but I guess they had no idea how to make the zords unique in the Sentai.
@inconemay1441

Wonder if Gingaman was supposed to have a different theme since the Rhino, Phoenix and carrier have a more sci fi look to them, even if there's a story justification for it in the final product.
To this day, still think it's the best season, but alright. Story was good, characters were likeable, some of the coolest zords, but aight to each his own.
Kind of see where you’re coming from but as someone who loves Lost Galaxy and puts it at the top of my favourites (1st Lost Galaxy, 2nd LightSpeed, 3rd MMPR) I can’t say how happy so am that it’s finally getting some recognition.
magna defender is a fan favorite like doggie cruger so... it makes sense
Ah, this video breaks my heart lol I love the lost Galaxy zords and have them all except the carrier zord. But man, all your points are super valid. Definitely the biggest bummer for me is no combination modes. I'm totally just looking at them through a subjective point of view and bias since it's my favorite season. Bummer to know you you don't own them....yet ;)
I'm going to have to hold back tears when you do your Wild Force video. My favourite season and one of my favourite toylines 😢
You skipped wild force? Dang thats a shame. I enjoyed the hell out of the zords and the season
The gingaman toyline was a celebration of metal being used again as it had been absent since Jetman. plex thought it was its last chogokin/diecast metal use “this would turn out to be Hurricanger instead” Budget went to the main mecha/megazord. Hence why the rest of the zords are smaller, the last 3 are call backs to Showa sentai mecha in many ways, there size and metal components were exactly like the first 5 Showa dx robo’s. Ginga bitus/zenith is a homage to Sun Vulcans carrier Jaguar Vulcan which was also had the teeth and opening mouth/mothership look. I think it was also plex seeing if introducing smaller mecha would provide more sales than just the traditional Main-extra-super that had been the pillar since Ohranger/Zeo and it seems that experiment didn’t work out as we return to form with gogo v/ lightspeed
What's quite cool was the shark carrier zord was actually a homage to the Super Sentai Sun Vulcan's carrier zord. What's even better is that Sun Vulcan carrier zord actually got a super minipla model kit not too long ago, only catch is it's p-bandai

So that why i was thinking i saw it in older sentai.
I only owned the Torozord, which I had fond memories of as I remember my mom took me to Toys R Us and allowed me to choose whatever toy I wanted. Out of all the Zords they had, Toro stood out the most for me. I played with it non stop after, I absolutely adored how it was practically TWO toys in one. The string was really dumb but outside of that this Zord really provided endless hours of play for me.
Well at least you didn’t buy Operation Overdrive megazords.

Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on wild force
Good to know someone still remembers CollectionDX... You even used some of _my_ pictures of the Dlx Stratoforce Megazord in your video. =) Yeah, I was never hot on any of the _PRLG_ stuff because it didn't combine with each other. I've always flirted with the idea of the Defender Torozord, but couldn't quite bring myself to commit, even today. The Transdaggers are nice but hollow and kinda flimsy, but that set my interest off on team-wide multi-mode weapons; today I have both the Karakuri Hengen (not the Ninja Steel Morpher) and Kyuza Weapon (n/a). After _PRLG_ ended and eBay became a thing, I picked up the Dlx Stratoforce and Astro Galactic Megazords; no regrets, although the removal of some of the metal on the former pissed me off. Buuuuut I still wasn't feeling the line overall. It wasn't until 2018 when I watched Shout! Factory's complete DVD boxed set of _Seijuu Sentai Gingaman_ (a surprise favorite!) that I finally changed my mind, and now I want a DX GingaiOh. I am now on the fence about a DX GigaRhinos (Centaurus Megazord), SeijuuKen (Quasar Saber), Ginga Brace (Galaxy Morpher), and still reconsidering BullTaurus (sooooo much metalllll). I had the opportunity to get a second-hand Zenith Carrierzord years ago, but after handling it (it was in excellent condition and intact!) and actually having something else in mind at that same store (which is now closed and gone), I turned it down because it was out-of-scale and a bit lackluster. (A- neither Giga Bitus nor the Zenith Carrierzord has an animal designation, they simply exist; and B- it is directly inspired by the Jaguar Vulcan carrier from _Sun Vulcan._ )
What are your thoughts on the Go Onger and Shinkenger toylines? Since you value big all encompassing combinations so much, and each of those lines (with the exception of 1 zord each) are exactly that
For not having the toys in hand this is a very well thought-out and fair critique of the figures. AND as a bonus we got through the entire series in one video. I agree with the criticisms. The lack of combination throws me off, and I'm feeling the same way about Kiramager (our incumbent sentai) this year. They did have nice designs though. I had the Defender Torozord and the Stratoforce Megazords as a kid, lost them, recently picked up a loose Zenith without the miniatures. It's all well and good but I really wish Zenith could be an actual carrier. Super Minipla is our only hope and honestly a SMP Zenith in scale with the components would still have to be BIGGER than the actual DX toy. The economics of scale bit them hard on that one. I never really noticed the lack of cohesion between the zords, i just got sucked into Stratoforce and Centaurus looking cool and pretty much left it at that. I don't know enough about Gingaman's premise to speculate why the mechas were still kinda space-themed in what is ostensibly a nature-themed show, I'll have to look into that. Great review as always, can't wait for Lightspeed and the greatest train megazord!
The clip-ons for the main zord are a peeve although as I'm not a toy engineer and I highly doubt you are, you can't comment on them simply being lazy enough to engineer a method to overcome it. There are things known as physical and engineering limitations even if ignoring budget and time constraints. Torozord was absolutely lovely and the fact that it could hold the Magna Defender as a 2-in-1 zord is lovely. The auxillary zords being 5-in-1 and with never before seen vehicle types to have unique combining methods is so attractive. Carrier sadly has to come in Deltabase size or it wouldn't fit to scale. Just a gut feeling seeing the demand for stuff like Pyramidas but I dont think those tend to sell too well as they are far too bulky and dont do much so I dont think they wanted to bulk Gigabitus up. Ultimately your negative outlook as a whole is just oozing with blatant bias but I did like the technical insights.
I had the red rhino zord one xmas and it was really weird, didn't combine in a very obvious way, felt a bit wrong when in megazord mode, always felt like I could never transform it right.
So here’s the thing about zenith carrierzord scale: how massive you want it to be to be able to store both the centaurus & stratoforce component inside? If they produce it in the “proper” scale, it would be too big for its own good, it would be difficult to store, not to mention the box. And no one would be able to purchase it. From a business standpoint, it kinda makes sense. I mean, the more plastic & component to make each zord, the more expensive it would be in the final price. Like, you know, who wouldn’t want a “proper” scaled serpentera? But who would buy one if they made it?
@dragon_ninja_2186

Exactly! I do understand the issue with scale for other zords but asking for it with a freaking carrier zord is asking way too much.

How the hell would they make the horns pop out in any way without making the head huge or the horns tiny?
As a kid, I didn't have the actual Lost Galaxy Megazord, but an action figure that was in the same scale, which seems like a blessing in disguise given the small & easily lost pieces. I completely agree about the Centaurus and Stratoforce zords. I got them at a garage sale and didn't even recognize them as Power Rangers since they were so different than anything else, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I don't think that they pulled off what Bandai was going for.
The Sentai ones from Japan were much better than the ones that they sold in other regions...
I understand your frustration with the zords. While i love the design and show versions of the show the toys were very flawed and not something you find without missing pieces

Literally the only thing I remember this season for is -Astronema- Karone becoming a power ranger.
I remember the stratoforce being poor quality when I was little. The arms wouldn't stay in and the chest piece wouldnt stay clipped on
I actually have all the Lost Galaxy zords, I enjoyed the season, toeach their own.
Are you going to cover the Lightspeed Rescue Zords?
Lost Galaxy was kind of when I checked out of the show. Although I did end up casually seeing many episode as my sister, 9 years younger than me, had started to get into the show by that point so I’d see some of this through to Time Force as she was watching it.
I remember the 1st time I saw the Lost Galaxy Zords. I was at a toysrus and I saw one was out of the box. Back then, I was so tempted to take it out and play with them on the spot. But alas, as a child, I couldn't buy them. In my 1st few years of college, my friend gave me a Centaurous Megazord. Although it didn't have its weapons, I'm glad to have it for free and didn't have the heart to sell it. Lost Galaxy was by far, imo, a great season as it own. And a redemption for Karone 😁
Fair enough. I tend to skip megazord lines if I can't find all of the items, or I don't really like the season. I also spent some time Um'ing and Uh'ing over this set when I started my collection
I’d love to see what the Rhino and Phoenix Galactabeasts would have been without having been mangled by the villains.
No, I don't think you were that harsh, Ryan. I think in some ways I do agree with you on the Lost Galaxy/Gingaman Megazords/Mechas. As much as I do love LG, it's 1 of my personal favorite Power Rangers seasons, the Megazords are something I'm sorta mixed on. I do find the addition of the Lost Galaxy Megazord's fists, and horns being completely separate rather than actually being part of the Megazord itself to be annoying. Granted, it's nice that there's storage for them, but that still doesn't make it good design, imo. Not to mention with the Gorilla Zord/Gingarilla, its left shoulder-pad is always very loose, even on the original Gingaiou mold, which leads me to believe that it must've been an issue with this mold entirely, so hopefully, Hasbro will fix this. Yeah, I have no idea they changed the gold chains on Bull Taurus to just awful tubes for Defender Torozord either, that, and the removal of its tail was also dumb, and it's also a shame how it can't combine with LG Megazord as well, much like how Robo Racer/Sirender couldn't combine with Turbo Megazord/RV Robo, or Rescue Megazord/VRV Robo. Now as for Centaurus, and Stratoforce Megazords/Giga Rhinos, and Giga Phoenix; I think it is odd that they couldn't combine into 1 big Megazord, or even combine with LG, and DT Megazords. I probably would've preferred if instead it was just 5 new Zords that could form a secondary Megazord similar to the Shougun, Super Zeo, Rescue, and Mega Voyager Megazords. And lastly Zenith Carrierzord/Giga Bitus. I really have no idea why they designed as just a playset, and not as an actual carrier for the deluxe C&S Megazords, not to mention it doesn't have much of a Megazord mode. Overall, while I do enjoy this line, I think the Megazords are 1 of the weaker lines of the season, even the original Japanese molds (although, I strongly recommend them way more), so here's hoping Hasbro will make things right in the future! :D Sorry for the really long comment.
I love the lost galactabeasts, esp when they brought back the “in space” theme
I actually only bought defender torozord and all the magna defender line, Lost Galaxy was good but it just seems weak after following up from PRIS
As someone who own the JP versions, they were great toys, however, I do agree with a lot of what was said here. Lack of combinations really hurt and the line-up does feel like a mix mash of animals and space vehicles. IIRC, Megaranger (In Space's JP counterpart) had low sales in JP might have been a reason the budget was lower on theses guys. It was also the time Bandai and Plex went back to diecast metal which might have played a role in the budget, sadly most of it was cut from our versions. Get the feeling the Centaurus and Stratoforce Megazord were scrap In Space/Megaranger Megazord designs, that got to move into this toyline after Megarnager poor sales and they needed 2 extra Megazord's to fill the line out. Speaking of which, £17 for a Deluxe Megazord with chrome is a bargain even back then, speaking the Galaxy Megazord and the Mega Voyager the year before were nearly £40.
I think these zords were horrible, right up there with how ridiculous the R.P.M. zords looked. I agree the Shark should've been a Whale...much more fitting and all three Shark, Phoenix and Rhino should have been different colors. I think the main zords were just ugly to look at. I agree with your thoughts totally. BTW, I am loving these videos!
Those fist been like that since 70s and 80s they used to shoot out of the arms with the older Sentai mecha
Well, I always liked the starforce megazord because it looks so diferent from most zords that almost feels like it was made by diferent people

I think now I appreciate it more than I did at the time. Back then, I was searching for an out from PR so what felt like 'starting again' (even though it wasn't) seemed the best time to stop watching. Zordon's team's story was over, In Space was an exceptional way to finish it, and whatever came after was a bit disappointing. The Starship Trooper uniform reuse I found funny. The galactabeasts in their animal form looked...ropey at best. I hated that the Lost Galaxy team blew up the Astro Megaship. I appreciated what they did with Karone though. No offense to Kendrix who seemed lovely and I'm glad she comes back at the end, but it would've kept me watching if Karone was the pink ranger from the start.

Gingaman all around it a great sentai. Great characters, great villains, great story, and a great soundtrack. The show has so much feeling and energy in each episode. I really feel the only thing that i did not like about the show was hikaru. He wasn't annoying but was a little bit childish for being the youngest but I don't hate. Just wished he was better handled. Other than that, every about Gingaman is really great and it is my favorite Super Sentai series along with Lost Galaxy being my favorite Power Rangers series.
You know I thought that they were based on the behemoth, ziz, and leviathan.
Honest, my personal take is no matter how shitty the main mech is, if you are a season completionist, you will get it. And what i mean by completionist is you have at least the main mech per season. Like I have 0 nostalgia for Gingaman or Lost Galaxy and I still bought the DX GingaOh just for the sake of owning the series main mech...and as the current theme of my comment goes, I got it for cheap. I think I only got that MIB for like $75. That was about 8 years ago and again from a Japanese contact. I just giggle when I check Ebay or other sites for its price and see it for not $75 for sure from those sites lmao. Also the fist is a problem for you? Then you would hate the vintage stuff cause pretty much every sentai mech in the 70's to 90's had a fist launching gimmick and a lot of them do get lost over the years. Thank goodness for people that make repros for them on Ebay. Then the Cube Gorilla from Zyuohger also brought back that gimmick. Also I see you skipped Wildforce, that one I actually did watch back in the day and enjoyed it. They're legit amazing toys and is worth hunting for especially the Japanese version if you can.
I kinda disagree on The Galaxy Megazord the detachable fits on the deluxe is part of the show if you see the transformation scene you can see hands appears to click on the arms
i liked the gorilla and the lion the main zord and then the bull. but i didn't own any of them. i started with light speed rescue for toys
I mean, Mystic Force had a knight driving a train..... accuracy has never been Power Rangers strongsuit
I feel like it was a big season. But whatever.

Somebody's offended by a different opinion on the internet... Shocking
Power Rangers was going to be canceled after In Space (which was supposed to the final season), but thanks to their cancellation of Mystic Knights and its budget that was going to be used in season 2 of Mystic Knights went instead towards Power Rangers’ revival, Lost Galaxy!! So Lost Galaxy saved Power Rangers (due to its success), if it didn’t exist and there was a second season of Mystic Knights, Power Rangers would’ve been a dead franchise after only 6 seasons!! (MMPR to In Space)
You right but I am still gonna collect the sentai versions.
Can I tell you the truth? I would have so bought the Word Builder version of the Lost Galaxy Megazord. Vortexx brought Lost Galaxy back on TV. I was interested in the Lost Galactabeasts. :7
You didn't even talk about how the sixth rangers megazord didn't show up in the show most of the time
this is just me, and i know the sentai is more to blame for the designs but i do not like the designs by default i do not like helmet mouths at all, it gives me the same unnerving feeling I felt when soundwave was shown in transformers comics without his faceplate however designs like in bioman and zyuranger can make it work somehow, and the ones that are in gingaman(the basis for lost galaxy), no, just no, i get the whole "soundwave without faceplate" feeling
All the opinion stuff aside, to actually carry all the zords the way they do in the show the figure would be so freaking huge!! Cant fault them for doing doing the scale aha

RPM killed off gold and silver. Wes died in Time Force's future saving the city until the future rangers went back to the past and prevented that. Sky's dad in Time Force was killed, presumably he(Sky's Dad) was Wes's son but it was a retool of the time force red ranger suit so it could be some guy who took up the powers after Wes retired, considering he'd be quite old to be a ranger in spd's time. Or it's just a reused suit that has no connection other than appearance to Time Force, especially considering how A Squad reused Space helmets and I think lost galaxy soldier vests, aka starship trooper vests.
No not harsh. I really only like the torozord and the main zord... well i really only like the abe zord and his unique transformation.
Gotta say, when I watched Lost Galaxy during the pandemic 'cause I was born in 2000 and the first Power Rangers I watched was Wild Force but I digress, the series had great story telling. But the zords??? Bruh they were off putting, I mean only 1 megazord, no secondary megazord whereas every season before and after at least had one, and the introduction of the lost galactabeasts made me hope for something for the zords to sprues them up. But like, why the fuck did both Super Sentai and Power Rangers fuck up Centaurus, Stratoforce and Zenith?? Like, I don't care if the lore says they were retrofitted by the series' villains, but c'mon sure something better could've been done by like just having them as kinda larger galactabeasts compared to the 5 and have them transform into separates zords and even have certain parts be eligible for zord combinations - a bit like Gransazers with their chouseishins or star gods/beasts. But hey just a penny for my thoughts I guess, carry on
Why didn't you get these toys they're awesome 👏🏿
It's time to subscribe
I watched a few of your videos about a year ago
Had no idea the red one was a rhino 😆
Karone gave continuity o lost galaxy after space.
9.51 , the Red ,& the Blue Megazord look more like it belong with the Vehicle Voltron than Power Ranger
I wish the sentai line kept as them beasts the 3 lost ones in space in lost galaxy could have been a cool ultrazord combination with 8 zords instead i think bandai japan lost there creativity by not giving us an 8 zord combination in beasts to ultrazord they should have remained all as beasts in japan for ultrazord combination.
I'm only disappointed these arnt like beast wars transformers toys and should look more like a Condor Griffin lion ect ..There normal forms are sick.
not a fan of lost galaxy but gingaman is fan tastic
But technically he is not the six rangers just an extra ranger
I personally would have wanted the Phoenix and rhino zords if they weren't so brittle plastic
The theme IS fire🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

@@powerrangertube the condor but the first megazord they got I enjoy the combination I do hate that the fist are easily lost and the horns but the way it’s made I feel it’s worth it my least favorite is the rpm or overdrive line

Yeah I agree. I normally like vehicle seasons but overdrive and rpm do nothing for me
The Lost Galaxy Megazord and Turozord are both great. Sorry 🤷🏼♂️
Should of named this video, "me and why I'm going to shit all over this toy line" lmao I love lost galaxy but you picking these toys apart is funny
