I've got the lyric in my Fender 12 string. It sounds amazing.

Graham, first and foremost, much thanks for putting this together. This and all your videos have been very helpful and educational. I watched/listened with my iPhone headphones but will go back and review all three videos again via monitors and quality headphones. Will let you know when I finally decide and purchase both the guitar and pickup system. Again, great unbiased job and God bless!

Yes I do have a question, and will probably pester you more. :-). What saddle/nut material does your Rockbridge have? I checked Eastman and they are built with bone.

That guitar sounds incredible! And you're right about the bone saddle vs under saddle pickup. Martins like the OMJM have an undersaddle pickup and despite being high ends guitars with a bone nut, the saddle is plastic for that very reason as someone from Martin explained that to me.

Some good points about the bone nut, never thought of that. I love my lyric, sounds a little nasaly on its own by default but because of that it cuts well in a band mix. I do use a sound hole feedback buster though, but had to cut a notch to fit around the volume control.

Enjoyed the Tyler Childers tune around 2:36 in the video. Thanks for the demo.

Love the Lyric in my Martin hd28v through my Roland Acoustic Chorus AC90 amp. Add reverb and some chorus. Sounds great w/o external preamp.

Yeah I have a Roland Ac33 and really works with the lyric! Now I'm thinking of soldering my m80 to it but can't find much info

Thanks for the video, I wanted to ask you about the noise at 3:40, what tirggered? I am having issues having that sound all over the place at a very low volume. what could it be?

How is it with feedback though? I sing and play so I have a vocal mic right next to me. Would this be an issue with the lyric? Thanks

I'm trying to love the Lyric. I put it in a Larrivee OM and it sounds like a Mic sitting in a guitar...boxy. I have been trying to improve it with a Baggs Para DI. Yours sounds better. Wonder if it's the body style that makes a difference?

The lyric is a nice pickup but definitely lacks that enhanced bass that we often like live. Even with the Anthem at full tru-mic, you are still getting all the low end from the Element. You can definitely add bass to the Lyric but it’s not the same. If the Lyric had more bass, I would still have it in my guitar.

Scott, I totally agree with you. I have a few pedals to remedy this. If i may offer, a good EQ pedal can really help with this. Depending on your venue, often times bass in a guitar is frowned upon lol. But i do like a little umph in my sound as well. My current EQ pedal is pretty great. It is a Boss EQ 200 graphic equalizer. I have the Baggs Align Session and reverb as well in my chain. Thanks for the comment and support!

@@twg2984 One cool option as well would be the new Lr Baggs Voiceprint. It seems to enhance the bass nicely with the Lyric. I am hoping to try that pedal out soon!

@@twg2984 The Aura was ahead of its time and it’s actually still incredible. They basically brought the IR process to the masses. The Voiceprint and Tonedexter (another option) allow you to create your own IR. I have the Tonedexter and it’s quite impressive. The advantage of the Voiceprint is that it’s an easier process and you can eq both the pickup and IR.

Hello. You're using it just for live performances, right? When I thought of opening a hole on my acoustic guitar, it was for me to avoid the need of buying another instrument for live presentations. For recording purposes, nothing will sound better than wood, IMHO. =) And depending on the live presentation, I wonder if using a real mic for guitars won't be better than this thing

I was wondering if you have had any issues with feedback with the lr baggs lyric especially when playing in a larger venue with a full band and with the increase in volume and bass eq'd? My experience was imbalance between the high E and b and other strings. It may have be an install issue but I’ve read where the bone was part of the issue as well. Thanks!

@@twg2984 Ahh, yeah, it makes sense. I know that instal is crucial on piezos, that unless they are perfectly straight with both the guitar and the bridge they have issues. It is perfectly reasonable to me that the varying densities or possible defects of a bone nut would have a similar effect. Honestly I am wary of piezos for the shear fact that they are a loose barrier between my saddle and bridge. There is no way that doesn't effect the sound of the sustain.

So you have both the lyric mic and the under saddle installed? or was that first demo just with an external mic? I read that you can actually wire in a piezo to the lyric preamp so that you can use both the under saddle piezo and the lyric mic together, but I'm having trouble finding more info on that.

Hi there. I actually have the K and K Pure Mini installed now with a baggs voiceprint DI. But to answer your question, I have tried both the anthem (undersaddle and mic) and lyric (mic only). If you want an undersaddle I would not suggest trying to wire in an undersaddle. I dont know specifics but the lyric only has a volume button as the anthem has a full preamp with the correct connections for the undersaddle.

@@twg2984 hmmm...as far as I can tell, the lyric also has full preamp and the preamp does have an auxiliary pad for soldering in another source (such as a piezo pickup), although I'm not sure how you would mix the two sources. I've emailed LR Baggs for more info about this.

@@MikaelLewisify Oh ok. I imagine they are probably going to suggest if you want the undersaddle to get the full anthem pickup versus trying to install one on the lyric after the fact. The element undersaddle part is anywhere from $50-75. The anthem is $100 more than the lyric. So for basically a difference of $25 or so, you could have the system you want with the warranty to cover issues......just my 2 cents.

Graham, I've gotta admit, I'm a little bit confused here. You've done videos strongly promoting the Anthem SL, and yet here, you're promoting the Lyric over the Anthem? Forgive me, but that's straight-up confusing. Are you saying that the whole decision for you on whether to choose the Lyric over the Anthem hinged on what the saddle is made of? Because that too makes no sense to me. If that were the case, you'd simply change out the saddle for one made of the proper material, right? A clarification would be most helpful. Many thanks.

Sorry for the confusion. In my never ending pursuit of the most natural sound I have changed up a few things. What I was basically saying was if you use an under saddle with a bone nut you won't get the full signal from the guitar to the pickup sometimes causing an unbalanced tone. I have ended up with K and K pickups in my guitars now with the Lr Bangs Voiceprint DI. Hope this helps!
