    In Canada the 4070 is $800 cad which is cheaper than 6800 xt and 3070 ti, only better value card than this in Canada is 6700xt at $500 cad but this card is substantially more powerful than the 6700xt with less power consumption. Even the 3080 is $900-$1400

    At that point the 4070 is a no brainer. I wouldn’t take a 6700 or 6800 xt honestly over this

    Thanks for the detailed info. Can you speak about the fan design? Seems a unique configuration with 1 on top and 1 on bottom. I have been looking for a blower card in my iTX case (EVGA Hadron air), but I wonder if this design would be suitable still? Do you have any thoughts on that? Or if you have other GPU recommendations I could look into, I'd be open to that as well!

    Why I bought a Suprim X 4090 - all other GPU’s are inferior and Nvidia cut the bus size down on all 4000 series not named flagship which = less bandwith and stutters in higher resolutions. I owned a Tuf 0:08 4070ti for about 2 weeks and it had more stutters in 4k than my 3080ti because of the 192 bit bus. I couldn’t imagine a 128bit bus. I ended up giving that GPU to my brother and buying a 4090 though I bought a Tuf 4080 the other day from microcenter for $1070USD brand new. It’s a great efficient card too probably the only other card worth buying from 4000 series with any kind of future proofing. Sadly, the 256 bit bus still holds it back a tiny bit. Still a 100fps 4k card but not on my 4090’s level. Good enough for my living room Pc though. Coil whine is worse then my Suprim and I binned that chip after buying 3 90 skews at one time. Tested different voltage curves and the highest core and mem stability with the most minimal coil whine and quietest card. Oddly enough the gaming trio could boost to a staggering 3.1ghz without crashing but all that plastic on the shroud paying that much nope I’m good, don’t need to OC that heavy anyways unless I’m using on water with nitrogen soooo Suprim it was over the Tuf and trio

    Weird, my 4070 has no stutter issue in any games at 4k. Even my 4090 laptop with a smaller bus also has no issue. Maybe you got a bad card. Nvidia tries to compensate the smaller bus with a larger cache size

    @@cs.studios I was talking about stutters in 4k ultra settings. Which obviously the 4070ti isn't, but it should be a 4k card, especially since Nvidia was releasing as a 4080 from the beginning. I just don't understand why they would limit the bandwith so much on these new 70 class cards, it's like they are going backwards or being careful not to allow too much performance increase. One thing I will give the new 4070 is it's incredible efficiency, and where it lacks in bandwith it makes up for in other areas.. but still. A 128bit bus just doesn't make much sense to me. They are purposefully hindering it from being able to run higher resolutions with high framerates. Obviously it's okay for 1440P which is where it's targeted anyways. Or should be - at least. I would most certainly pick up a 4070 over a card like the 6800XT based off of the efficiency alone. And it wasn't a bad card - I run a 12900K in my main rig, I have it OC'd to 5.5 ghz and I delidded it with a delidding tool and lapped it with a copper ihs. I also use a LGA 1700 contact frame from thermalright which dropped temps another 10c plus. I'm currently running DDR5 and I have manually tuned timings and it's running at 6400mhz at CL30. Of course it's not going to stutter in lower resolutions - but if you run it with a heavy title on high settings in higher res there are some stuttering issues due to lack of bandwith. I don't have the best CPU you can get but my setup is more than optimal for these cards to get the absolute best performance possible

  • @cs.studios

    @cs.studios

    Interesting, all my 4k results are from ultra settings and I had no stutter issues. I’m also running an older 18-core i9 extreme 10980XE which should bottleneck more than a 12900K in gaming. The 4070 can definitely game at 4K 60fps in most games. I never really paid attention to 4070Ti so haven’t seen its performance.

  • @6r3ys0n

    @6r3ys0n

    @@cs.studios They are micro stutters and extremely hard to notice I should add - unless you REALLY pay close attention. The frame rate dips are more noticable then the micro stutters in 4K ultra. And for the record i've never tested a 4070 so you'd know more on the matter then I do. I've only tested a few 4070ti's One in my rig and another in my buddy's rig and he runs a 13700K. I was just here complaining about it's lack of bandwith. I don't think it's a bad card at all for the value and for what you get.

    The 4070 is cut down quite a bit from the original ad104 die. They could have cut it down a little less. Last year 3070/3070Ti gap wasn’t as large. But either way it’s still a good gpu. I feel if nvidia allowed a higher power target we could OC it quite a bit actually. My gpu boosts 2845Mhz all day which was nice.

    Imagine an amd gpu not being able to stream onto several devices easily even those 12 years old. Unfortunately nvidia has amd beat in ray tracing , video encode/decode, cuda, drivers, and they still support their maxwell GPUs. I’ve owned a few rx 6800s and went back to nvidia quickly. Before that had Radeon vii which was a good GPU.

    The reviews are all complaining that they can't have new stuff for cheap. They go on and on about how gpu's are getting more expensive like nothing else on earth is doing the same thing. It's ridiculous. At the price point this card is great, performs well and draws little power. Everybody whining that this isn't $399 sounds like my dad complaining about the price of gas." In my day we paid 46 cents per gallon." Yeah you bought your first house for $17,000 too.......

    I was quite surprised how cool and quiet the card runs. I normally get 80/90/Titan class cards but even the 60/70 class builds I did for friends didn’t run this cool. The card performs great at 4k and having all the new features is great (especially rtx super resolution and dlss3/ray tracing). Most people are complaining that you can buy an AMD gpu for same price but those gpus are huge. Most people I know do not have huge towers able to hold the big gpus. I personally only wanted a 2-slot card due to my pcie expansions cards. Crazy you can’t get a 2-slot card these days. Glad this one was truly 2-slot

    you have to remember that Nvidia sold the 3080 for a MSRP of 699 so you are telling me that after 2,5 years later we should be happy about a card that has close to the same performance after 2 years for 100 dollars less and only 20% more VRAM. compared to the 970, 1070, 3070 and even 2070 this card stinks all of them where faster compared to the 80 previous cards.

    @@coffee7180We just went through a historic period of hyper-inflation after a three-year long global pandemic, supply chain issues and chip shortages, so $100 less after 2 years for more VRAM and less power draw? I'm absolutely thrilled, tbh. Do you remember GPU prices in 2020-2022? Even if you could get one, you were paying double, so to talk about the 3080 in terms of retail pricing at $699 is not really accurate.
