I have an SR-2, I was very FSB limited on my SR-2 which is normal, just managed to get 200. And 2x6 core CPUs and then disable HT for gaming they really fly and run cooler/higher clock speed due to no HT. I can even use 1Gb memory ICs on dual rank sticks, all slots occupied in this scenario is quad rank, triple channel and 24GB total. I had 2000 7-7-6-18, trrd 4, tfaw 16, tRTP 4, RTLs lowered and optimised across all channels/ranks, 1.72v across all sticks and memory fans. CPUs were X5650s at 4.6GHz, highest multiplier is 23x sadly, only option to get this higher would be CPUs with a higher turbo because of my FSB limitation. SOTTR was pretty close a R7 2700X well tuned. Of course it helps that I literally optimised everything and had more cores, burns so much more power too lol. Got 146FPS average, with 22961 frames rendered. I don't use it for my daily now, but when the mining boom was happening I had my main rig with my 3090 mining and I'd use this config as my 2nd daily to use while I made some money with my main. Was way better than I could ever imagine.

Thanks for the video. I still have my evga x58 classified e759 that I bought new back in 2007. Started with a i7 920, 6gb of ram and 2 gtx285 in sli. Then upgraded to gtx 580 3gb tri-sli, i7 980x (4.4 stable oc), 24gb of ram, and sata ssd. Last upgrade was triple 980 ti's. This has to the best platform intel has released to date. I keep it in my garage and mainly just use it for youtube, music and every now then playing gta5 or csgo. Now that the weather is warmer, I'm finally thinking about retiring it with a 12400f/3060ti build. Or maybe just use it in the winter, it also works great as a space heater 🙂.

If they supported AVX they would last forever lol. I’m running x299 in my main system, always was a fan of the HEDT series.

X5675 OC to 4.5Ghz (+30% OC) is still so good in overall gaming in 1080p but some titles that require AVX2 example Apex Legends starts showing its Age that people should upgrade to a bare minimum of atleast a Haswell Platform with a good 2400Mhz RAM I'm planning to use Xeon E5-2696v3 18C/36T on an X99 platform soon so a huge leap from my X5675 6C/12T for my daily stuff/work

Most of the newest games don't even require AVX-2. And the games that require AVX-2 can be played on a X58 cpu using a "workaround" cmd line. And it works like a charm, without any problems whatsoever. It even seems like that game developers are dumping the whole AVX-2 thing, because it does not give any significant performance in games. I just installed Apex Legends, and the game runs full force with no issues.

This is an awesome chipset, i have an asus sabertooth x58 with a i7 990x and 16 gb ram and a gtx 1050ti. this set up is not too far behind my Asus strix z370 with an i7 8700, 32 gb ram and a gtx 1070 founders edition. I actually think my x58 still out preforms many newer computers that are not custom built gaming rigs.

I actually have a few CPU's and Ram sticks for x58. I have one with an OC'd i7 920 and cheap graphics card for general use/server use. I also have an x58 with a premium MB with SATA3 USB 3, and a Xeon x5680 OC'd that has a gtx 970. It works great. Been actually looking to see what GPU makes sense in it for a GPU upgrade as the 970 is the bottleneck. (see bottom of post). I did build an new PC using AM5 7700x 32GB fast DDR5 ram. Just recently stopped using the gtx 970 in this build as it took 9 months to finally get a decent new GPU (7800 xt). Only real issue is lack of AVX instruction set. So no COD/Warzone 2+, AOE etc. I do wish they made a daughter board with the AVX instructions! You can use NVME drives with a pcie adapter running gen 3 speeds but thats all you really need. Just saw your boot off nvme video. I was told the only work a round was to use a tiny boot disc to redirct to the OS on the NVME. Apprently that was wrong. I'm searching to see what upgrade GPU wise makes sense as I will also be using the x58 build for 4K video editing in resolve. The GTX970 is way underpowered.
