To make a difference we would all have to consume and live like they did 200 years ago. That would take care of the corporations. Since that is unlikely to happen we will be lucky if a few thousand of us will end up living like we did 200,000 years ago.
Climate change not being tackled because people think "who's going to pay the rent? who's going to pay the mortgage?" Once again, landlords are to blame. If the land was set free and the people had their basic rights guaranteed, they would be under a lot less pressure to make a profit so they can survive.

Every human that has a higher disposable income in a country with a higher disposable income call Mom produces more carbon dioxide. Between the years of 540 million years ago, and 55 million years ago, Earth has had five mass extinction events. The mass extinction events killed off between 60 to 90 percent of all life on Earth. Pre industrial temperatures goal Posts were changed from 1750 to 1850. Thats how they came up with the 1.5 degrees that we are at instead of. We just past 2 degrees actual. James Hansen's recent " in the pipeline paper" suggests that there's at least another degree of immediate temperature change being blocked by our continued burning of dirty fuels. The faster we shift to renewables. The quicker that extra degree of temperature change hits us. We are definitely in a real bind with that one if he is correct. The Boral Forrest ring in the northern hemisphere caught fire in 2016. After burning for 5 years. Russia sent a research ship to investigate the arctic floor off the Siberian coast (To see if Methane is bubbling up yet enmass). It left the region 9 months later. Then Russia started its offensive on Ukraine 3 months after that. Can't help but wonder if Putin knows something that would make him think. That he has nothing to lose now that a catastrophic climate tipping point has been breached. Welcome to the End Game folks! In 1972 The Rome Report predicted 2040 as the end date of current civilization. Then it claimed we are ahead of schedule due to business as usual. Many don't realize just how close we actually are to this. Perhaps we should all join hands as we go over the edge in just a few precious moments from now. "World is going to overshoot 1,5C..." FFS. We have already crossed that threshold. Over 12 months now, but in few years we are passing long term 1,5C and seeking to go past 2,0C (before 2040). Some days have been past 2C already (that's not climatic temp, yet). 10 months on record braking heat, monthly temperature records are blown to new levels... We are currently heading toward 3-5C warming by 2100. Or more if Hansen SO2 predictions are right... Doubling CO2 can mean 4,8C rise instead IPCC still argues for 3,0C rise... The larger rise is hidden under SO2 generated temporal cloud cover. Keeping fossil burners on keeps SO2 barrier, but the gap grows and so does warming ghg levels if we do so. Earth energy imbalance is rising rapidly. We can measure this imbalance accurately from space (even more accurately than temperature). While Earth takes more enrgy in itself than loses to space, it is clear that planet is warming. (in physics, black body radiation...) We have no time to save 1,5C or even 2,0C. But we have time to limit warming at 3,0C, or what ever our greedy people are letting it be.

Considering we couldn’t collectively work together for a recent pandemic…. There’s NO WAY humanity will collectively agree to meet these targets. Oh AND we’ve already been above the 1.5 level for a year now.
The rapid rise in temperature has led to further warming and drier areas of the land. Massive forest fires broke out in the drylands, turning the land black and ash reaching the glaciers, reducing the Earth's reflectivity. These events were repeated several times, causing fluctuations in the jet stream and increasing the damage. As an energy conservation activist, this story makes sense to me as the reason why global warming is 20 to 30 years earlier than the simulations of 40 years ago. More recently, due to Russia's invasion, Europe has suddenly been importing LNG, and has ordered LNG transport ships from China and South Korea, which are cheap but have no track record, and are spewing methane gas into the North Atlantic. "EVs" have finally been pointed out, but they emit a large amount of CO2 during manufacturing, and even more CO2 is emitted from thermal power generation when they are charged at night when solar power is not available. What citizens can do now is to use their air conditioner power wisely in the summer. During the day, solar power supplies the electricity, so use the air conditioner, and at night, like me, use passive cooling to put up with the heat. This is because even after the sun sets, the outdoor air conditioner units emit a large amount of heat, which prevents the atmosphere from cooling down. I feel sorry for the children if we don't take some serious action soon. Parents need to take responsibility.

You think we are the world? It shows how stupid we are. The planet is not at risk. It will continue to exist for millions of years. The world does not need to be saved, it is only the 6th extinction that must be avoided because we would suffer a lot. But for life to return, we must stop destroying it, so our disappearance is the best thing that can happen for life on this planet.
I don't like the apathy. You're giving up. How many of you vote for change? eat meat? have a high carbon footprint. Their are billions of us 'regular people'. A billion changes today, saves tomorrow.

The sad thing is that if we actually manage to make the changes needed and catastrophic effects are mitigated, large portions of the population will see few ill effects and try to use that as evidence that changes never needed to be implemented in the first place "obviously".
11:15 can the food supply chain of humans survive coral reef/plankton habitat loss? If so, what is a workable diet for everything else humans eat? Does that take us to GMO and processed foods? And how many people?
As far as I can see til now is that this problem could be solved mostly by world population reduction and control. The other ways are nearly impossible to implement and impossible to prove.
23'15: does anyone have scientific evidence that electric vehicles have a positive impact on climate? They only have a mild effect on air quality in cities (still emitting particles from brake systems). How are they made? With what resources? Techno-solutionnism is part of the problem. Individual cars are just not sustainable, and the sooner we understand that, the better.

When it comes to justice to its peopl the EU cannot do anything about that, why are we in the EU then for the small time dealers...
The Stern Report issued a few years ago was an economist's view on climate change and Deloitte's 2022 Sustainability Report also makes a business case for climate action. It would be great to have the insurance industry state their position on climate change. We all know the evological case for climate action delay, but what's really missing ate the social scientists - what are the socio-cultural, health & social welfare case for climate action (water scarcity, food insecurity, an extended housing crisis as homes are destroyed faster than we can build them, stress on communities who have to move, mental ill-health as we watch our future prosperity unravel, increasing strain on healthcare systems, further stress on social cohesion awa increasing conflict over decreasing resources etc. So far the discussion around climate change has only focussed on extreme weather in Africa so who cares. We need to bring the climate crisis closer to home.

😝Commitment ? 29-3-2024, Biden’s $7.5 billion investment in EV charging has only produced 7 stations in two years. After two years, that program has only delivered seven open charging stations with a total of 38 spots where drivers can charge their vehicles, according to a spokesperson for the Federal Highway Administration. (The funding should be enough to build up to 20,000 charging spots or around 5,000 stations, according to analysis from the EV policy analyst group Atlas Public Policy.)

Price of milk in supermarket depends on climate change. And if environmental costs are taken in it should be way higher than it is today. (Most products should be costing more.) @@zeshanbeig24 Yeah, your comment is nonsensical. Because cows produce so much methane the amount of eaten red meat is reduced. And because cows are eaten at some point of their life that has risen the price of milk. Believe or not, it is climate related issue. But there are plenty of products that are far more harmful to the nature and climate. And if these costs are counted in, the price should be much higher. Our current economay does not count almost any harm done to the nature in any product. This means that the whole economical system is based on falsehoods. Our overconsumption day went already and that is one way to see that.

@@k.h.6991 Sahara turning green is one of the tipping points the climate science is listing but the just stop oil people don’t want to talk about. Archeology says that Sahara was green before, and climatology says that at that time global climate was about one degree warmer than today. Movement of tectonic plates might meddle with that, and means that a repetition of Sahara getting green when global climate gets another degree warmer is not certain, just very likely. The rain falling there right now provides circumstantial evidence, it at least proves that Sahara doesn’t get even drier due to climate warming.

Silly. 1.5 degrees C is meaningless, and what is the basis? In the late 1800s, people ate poorly and died young. Now our big problem is obesity and people still live a long time. There is no climate crisis. If it was real, they wouldn’t be worried about justice, but about survival. Voters who don’t put climate change high are just smart.
