Oh yes. I agree. Can you imagine people who are used to adoration, elevated levels of respect and power through money being content in an underground prison? And those security guards they employ? Think they are going to let their employers live - when their own families and friends are out there dying? It's going to be a slaughterhouse in some of these bunkers, because as soon as the climate completely collapses, money means nothing. You could promise those guards a bar of gold per week, but what are they going to do with it? And as for the gardening side of things. That's harder work that these bunker scum realise. They won't be able to have made room enough to feed all the people they need for a cosy existence?

I read an article about these billionaires prepping for collapse. They want to have some of the baddest MFers (ex navy seals, etc.) in with them as personal security. The greatest climate disasters were the LIttle Ice Age and 19th Century storms. 20thC was a century of calm, thanks to increasing CO2. But thanks for playing!

We can be reassured that these greedy people have dramatically underestimated their dependence on the supply chain and workers to keep them in their lavish lifestyle. The planet gives no sway to billionaires as it attempts to rebalance its delicate ecosystems. We either save the planet together or we die together as a species. We're the only species on the planet that has the ability to choose our future. The rest are depending on us to wake up and learn to live in harmony with the Earth. We owe it to them to do our best. We're no where close to giving up our greed. But we're at the precipice of a life and death decision. Let's not let the corporatocracy make that decision for us. They are locusts upon the planet.

The most critical part of this house of cards in my opinion is agriculture. 40% of the world's soils are in a degraded state and topsoil erosion rate has doubled because of climate change. By 2060 some US agronomists predict top soil will be less than 15cm in depth throughou much of the midwest. This is too shallow to grow corn or any othe staple. Keep in mind that the US currently feeds about 900 million people outside of its borders. So even if we do manage to somehow make the transition to renewables it is unlikely that the present state of global stability can be maintained. The sweltering heat in SEA and the enormous floods are already having impacts on global ag production these past two years. CHINA HAS BOUGHT UP ABOUT 1/2 the world's stock of grain to prepare for famine. Famine->civil strife->many more failed states->CHAOS. THE WASTELAND IS COMING AND NOTHING CAN STOP IT.

Rich people will be no better off in the end then poor people.

A century ago, you might have a stump farm with a horse and shake shack, one pair of jeans, two tee shirts and boots with no socks. Your wife and kids would wear smocks and go barefoot. I came up on a cold water farm with an outhouse and wood stove, but we had kerosene lamps and a diesel tractor, so we got by. You would not survive post-Oil. Dust in the wind. Another EV Evangelical. Our little village went deep into debt converting to EV buses. I watch them go by the house, empty, except twos and threes during commutes. Other day I saw an EV bus bricked on the hill up to the freeway. The passengers called Uber rescue.

Attribution research find that our emissions have made specific climate disasters anywhere from 30% more likely to be that bad to 100 times more likely to occur to virtually impossible to occur without man-made global warming and climate disruption. Our emissions are not the only way we are eroding the Earth's ability to support life, but they are definitely one potent means of self-destruction.

Also, Miami is already planning to spend over 100 billion to raise streets and sidewalks 2-3 feet. With accelerating sea level rise and rapidly accelerating global ice melt fueling it, unless we change course and somehow reduce global CO2 levels, +2-3 feet of sea level rise by 2100 is virtually certain. Our past emissions have us on track for 20+ feet of evntual sea level rise even if we stopped emitting CO2 today, so we've really opened a Pandora's box of problems by burning fossil fuels.

Econ 101: supply and demand, so dramatically reduced demand forces an equivalent reduction in supply. We saw this in the US during the COVID-19 shutdowns when the oil price dropped so low they were paying us to haul it away and hundreds of oil exploration/production operators went bankrupt.. Don't buy the fossil fuel lobby's narrative! THIS IS A PROBELM OF INDIVIDUAL CONSUMPTIPON OF FOSSIL FUELS, PERIOD. All the rest, however tear jerking, is just BS.

Earth, where the average global temp is the hottest it has been in ~125,000 years, and the amount of heat being added to the global system every second is equivalent to all the heat energy from four atomic bombs. Cherry-picking isolated and unrepresentative examples can't prove anything when discussing global issues. If I wanted to cherry-pick, I would point out that I live in Ohio, where we haven't had a real winter in 3 years, but thinking globally, ski seasons have shrunk 4-5 weeks since 1980. The extreme atmospheric rivers that slammed the West Coast and created that new lake are a direct by-product of man-made global warming (warmer ait can hold more moisture, so we will often go back and forth before more extreme droughts [which the American Southwest recently had] and more extreme precipitation. But growing food will become harder and harder to do.

When the magnetosphere collapses and the Sun's plasma wraps the globe most, if not all life will disappear. Before that though, electricity and the flow of electrons on planet earth will be altered in ways incompatible with our technology. The 'magnetosphere' you speak of has collapsed and reversed 1,000 times in the geological record. If your McKibbenesque doom pron fantasy were true, then the fossil record would be broken 1,000 times too, and 'evolution' exposed as a fraud. Give me an example of when there was stability in the Earth's climate ? We all know about ice ages, the mediaeval warm period isn't supposed to have happened, but all the cathedral building took place when there was abundance enough to liberate the population in order to build them, then the little ice age isn't supposed to have happened, but art galleries are full of paintings depicting it ! If CO2 drops below 350 ppm the plants have insufficient food, so a great die off will occur. They want us to panic about going above 400ppm, but they know during the carboniferous period CO2 was in the thousands of parts per million, and all that CO2 did was feed the plants the remains of which we now mine as coal. So what's the motivation for the climate crisis narrative and CO2 is the enemy ? Well it could simply be the age old transfer of wealth from the many to the few ? After all they can't tax us for sunlight ! I think their ( the unaccountable meddlers we call the elite ) real fear is mass awakening, so they're creating multiple distractions as a strategy to stop it happening ! But in truth, the more they panic, and the more extreme they get, the more people are waking up ! They may be the catalyst of their own demise, and about time too 😊.

Who says the medieval warming period didn't happen? As I understand it, there was localised warming, which isn't the same as it being got rid of. I think that any analysis that takes one factor as proof of anything is suspect. For example, what was solar radiation like during the part of the carboniferous period you refer to? There are many things that effect climate, not just CO2. What I am interested in though is that study you quote (I assume) that says that if CO2 levels drop below 350 ppm, plants will die off? As the highest level of CO2 in the past 800,000 years was 300 ppm until 1988 (ref: statista), what evidence do we have that plants have been struggling during the last 800,000 years? Who are you referring to as the 'elite' that are making scientists across the planet report on the consequences of increasing CO2? The fossil fuel industry?
