Thank you Simon! 10 might be setting the bar a bit high: choices like amazon & wikipedia, which do appear as alternates in browser configurations, are there thanks to a technicality I would guess. Their value as general purpose search engines is essentially zero. Still, I can only name ddg, qwant, brave, bing, & yahoo off the top of my head, having not used google search for the past 15 years at least, and honestly I would expect most people to not be this far on the spectrum...

Google is the default search engine because it saves me time to find out how to switch whatever garbage search engine they decide to use to Google. :)

I'm really struggling to name 10 search engines (as someone who uses an alternate): - Google - Bing - Yahoo (which is really just Bing) - Ask (Jeeves) - Ecosia - DuckDuckGo - Startpage - Yandex - Baidu

1. Ask Jeeves 2. L + Ratio + You fell off (nah just kidding) 3. I don't know if you can discover much about it due to the language barrier, but I think you'll find a lot of "evil of the year" from Yandex - Russia's Google. It's actually rapidly expanded in Turkey and other parts of Eastern Europe.. Also also unrelated but I will always call your videos videos not 'content' because I don't agree with the implications of just consooming media and not really learning anything long term. I weep for the young among us as I can only imagine TikTok only amplified this.

That's an interesting idea! I might have a look and see if I can / could make a "year in" video for them. Thank you! And that's very kind. I completely agree. Binge watching but not taking anything in is a really big problem for everyone! So I can see your take on the definitions. And I'm humbled to be the (in my opinion) better category. I tend to say "content" ironically. I work in "content" for my day job and I always feel like Burnham in Inside when I say "here's some content". 😅
