Sousou no Frieren is a straight-up masterpiece, and for me it saved the fantasy genre (which had become SO stale and predictable). Amazingly, it's only my CO-favorite of the last season. I like The Apothecary Diaries every bit as much. And for at least one of the same reasons: the characters. We live in glorious times...

Nahh fr bro Frieren and apothecary diaries (imo) were the best 2 anime that came out last yr, both peak fiction 🙏🙏

It's perfect, although I have to watch the Japanese version the voice actors are so much better. The Stark and Himmel English actors' voices just do not fit.

It's funny how people (Shonen bros) say it's slow but watch hundreds of episodes of other shows that have 20 episode chunks where nothing happens, there are literally parts of one piece where you can skip 20 episodes and it'll still be in the place story wise or barely have progressed

Lmao, I am people 💀. Shonen anime is my favorite type of anime, even though I watch all types of anime. You’re not wrong. I would say it’s the emotional investment and impact that shonen has overall that will keep you invested even when it’s not hitting. Frieren is slow. it takes its time but that’s what makes the payoff amazing. But to get to that point you have to genuinely sit with it and let it slowly cook 😂

I'm not usually a fan of "editing out pauses and breaths to compress the video length, resulting in weird jumps of tone, because attention span of an average viewer is less than 10 secs" (I'm sure there's a proper name for that technique) but in this case produced a very packed and short review, easy to watch and digest. Well done!

Not really. They're not even comparable in most ways. I honestly couldn't get into DM. The elf girl's reactions are hilarious but I didn't care about the monster eating at all.
