Why Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends is SPECIAL

Ойын-сауық

Fringemas Day 20. Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends to me growing up was a pretty big deal, having my own attachment to when it officially premiered. So today, let's take a look at why I think Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends is special and what the show is all about!

What I also love is that Madame Foster (the person who owns the foster home), also didn't want to say goodbye to her imaginary friend, Mr.Herriman (the fancy rabbit). So she kept Mr.Herriman with her for her entire life, and opened her home to all of the abandoned imaginary friends. And she really understands Mac and his connection to Bloo, because sometimes, even at her old age, Madame Foster still plays with Mr.Herriman, just like how she did when she was a little girl.

Destination Imagination was my JAM as a kid. The plastic, faceless aesthetic and the backstory of the friend who had so much potential for good but got abandoned for how it was made/not being taught boundaries so it got possessive was just such a fun and interesting avenue to take in a show about what happens to imaginary friends made by immature kids. You get situations that aren't rational, because kids aren't rational beings. They need to be TAUGHT things just as the Friends do.

I agree, the earlier seasons are really awesome to watch. But season 1 IMO, is probably the best because all of the characters(even Bloo) are consistent in character and just remotely very likable. I just wish Bloo kept his nice, charming personality from season 1 especially the pilot movie one then the show would be almost 100% perfect. Bloo just gotten worse later on, granted he did has some selfish traits in the first season after the pilot movie but those are far and between and not too bad. But season 2 and above is where he really goes too far.

I'm a 2004 kid and this was one of my favorite childhood shows, mainly because i had great trouble socializing with other kids and would oftenly get lost over imaginary friends and stories of my own. Honestly the biggest take away from that show that I had was that you can still go and visit that child like imagination from time to time and that's not a bad thing. You'll always have to let go of your childhood and the experiences that go with it, but even as an adult you can still be a kid sometimes and just enjoy it

Mostly Foster's to me was about originality. I've always had a hard time coming up with my own visions for things like dungeons in d&d or original drawings and designs. Foster's sort of introduced me to the idea of thinking outside the box. The wacky artstyle, the crazy designs of the interiors of buildings, the way everything flowed just helped me to feel less stressed about being so strict with my designs. It's nice to watch it every now and then and just look back on a better time.

I was around 11 or 12 when I first saw this and Wilt was my first cartoon crush, which is embarrassing to say 😅 I just like the characters and the art style and was often influenced by it. I remember enjoying Foster's as a kid. I think my favorite imaginary friends were Wilt and Eduardo. I was very drawn to their personalities and saw a bit of myself in both of them. Not to mention their designs (like every other design on this show) are incredible and striking. Tall people make me feel safe, and I now realize that Wilt was one of the first disabled characters I remember seeing in an animated show. Meanwhile Eduardo is purple (my favorite color) and just looks like he can give the best hugs. I remember this being a wonderful show, definitely needs more love. P.S. That theme tune really is bangin

Ah Fosters, the show that helped to rekindle my love of animation , and proved that in the right hands even the the most simple and (well to put it it bluntly) immature concepts can become something full of substance that everyone of almost any age can enjoy. Was every episode a winner?: No. But the ratio of good outings far outweighed the bad and even the bad episodes had a moment or two that gave me a chuckle, a claim that a lot of comedies on TV cannot make. Plus one has to admit the writers weren't afraid to subvert the audience's expectations now and again, which was a rare thing for animated programs targeted towards children back in ze day.

I loved anything Craig McCracken put out, especially this show. It's got such heart and it still sticks in my mind. I don't see many videos about Foster's and this was certainly a pleasant surprise. I hope you do other videos on his work, too, it'd be nice to reminisce

Foster home for imaginary friends was exactly what I needed at the time. It showed me how everyone was worthy regardless of abilities and looks. And that there is always a place to call home even if its not in an adoptive home. It was so much fun I still recite some of the best quotes of the show. The characters weren't as loud and obnoxious as most show of the day. The basket ball player having such a kind and warming voice... That really separated it. Don't get me wrong there was a lot of screaming but it wasn't quite the same.

Me and my siblings enjoyed watching this show a lot. Some of the things we still remember from this show are the "Got BO? Get Deo!", "Coconuts are falling from the sky", the funny bunny episode, Berry (the yandere imaginary friend), and of course, Cheese. We still sometimes randomly quote Cheese's lines.

I'll admit, I'm one of those kids who just thought blue was selfish and annoying. The and Cheese still haunts my nightmares. But, even then, I still ADORED this show growing up. It was nice to have a show that encouraged me to be creative and open with who I was. Plus, all the other characters are just so lovable. Thanks for showing it some love.

This show released when I was 6. We went on our first real family vacation that year and stayed in a beach house in Kitty Hawk, NC. My little brother and I played outside on the beach all day every day we were there, literally forcing our parents to bring us in for meals or bedtime... except for the third night we were there. My brother and I saw the commercial for the show’s premiere a week prior to and we were pumped everyday waiting for it, we sat down and watched the whole thing and were caught hook, line and sinker. We never missed an episode until the show went off the air and I have so many good memories of laying on our soccer ball bean bag chairs and watching episodes after school. It doesn’t quite hold up for me the way other shows of that era do, but it still pounds my nostalgia button till I’m weak in the knees with old memories

Wait until you come to the fanfics. In one of them I found a couple of years ago, Bloo did something bad to annoy Frankie (idr what it was tho) which made her cry. Wilt heard her crying from his room, and then came to her and asked her about it, and when he found out it was Bloo, he had a fit about it and had quite a long informative conversation with Bloo about it.

I have a complicated relationship with Fosters, honestly. Imo, it's a show with high-highs and low-lows. I love all of its TV movies and certain characters, but other characters and certain episodes really frustrate me. It could be hilarious one episode and annoying the next. Also weirdly dark at times - I remember being incredibly upset by the episode "Sweet Smell of Excess" as a kid, seeing Bloo caged up and forced to stay away from Mac. Honestly, it's my least favorite Craig McCracken show, but there are still episodes and elements that I love. Even though I don't share your opinion though, I really loved hearing your thoughts on this show ^v^

This is my opinion basically. I really like and respect what the show is going for, but it isn’t my cup of tea. When the show hit, it smacked. When the show didn’t, it whiffed hard. Sometimes it got too annoying with its characters and others overstayed their welcome. The show would have been great if they focused more on the adoption aspect rather than crazy antics, kind of like the reverse of collecting xyz thing over the course of a series, but instead, a great finale would be for Mac to finally let Bloo go, and to empty Foster’s Home.

For me, it means simpler times. I love Foster's Mansion to bits. I remember that in my country, it premiered on a New Years to celebrate Cartoon Network's new layout (to the cool one with the CN city bumpers), and it was the first time back then that I managed to stay up so late, it was something pretty big. I was instantly taken in by the characters and the underlying heart underneath the funny beats and colorful designs. Haha, I would often record the series on my (then pretty old) VCR, just as a little treat, to rewatch whenever I wanted. I did the same with a lot of other series from back in the early 2000's. Those old tapes are my treasures now.
