I got so annoyed that Fisk was already wearing the white suit in the flashbacks. The whole point of Fisk wearing a black suit in DD season 1 is because he didn’t want to stand out while building his criminal empire behind the scenes. This version of Fisk really feels like a half-assed attempt to recreate the Netflix version while completely missing the nuances that made him such a great character in the Netflix version.

Ngl I haven’t watched a single mcu show since Falcon and Winter Soldier. That shit was so bad it permanently turned me of the mcu

I think a huge missed opportunity for a great scene would be Kingpin explaining to maya why he had her father killed. As it stands we just don't have a reason for it. Also it would have been interesting to know Clint's connection with KP and why KP used him. Or you could have a scene with Maya's father and KP. Also Maya's powers just suck. They are way too vague and I hate how she "resolves" things. It just felt like things suddenly ended without proper resolutions.

I was so ready for henry to call Maya out on endangering literally her entire family and town and then he sort of just... forgets and forgives her after literally almost being killed for her actions?? Proving him right? Maya didn't even have to reflect on how horribly she handled the situation and there was no real growth there, just artificial "no one was seriously hurt so who cares".

They wasted the potential of the R rating, they had no limits. They could've explored dark and gritty style themes since Maya was supposed to be "involved" in Fisk Criminal Enterprise which was an opportunity to explore THAT world from the POV of a henchman instead of a Detective chasing the bad guys.

The problem is the show was NOT MEANT for a R rating. It was meant to be as plain as any other show they made. They changed it because DD is very popular among viewers, and they wanted to run among cocktails. It's false advertising

Corporate needs you to find the difference between these 2. So I’ve noticed that Ms Marvel and Echo tv shows have an incredible amount of similarities especially when it comes to the development of the main characters and their powers/outfits 1)Generational/hereditary magic passed down to the females of the family 2)powers originate from another world 3)their ancestors were humanoid aliens forced out of their world 4)increasingly seeing visions of past generations 5)glowy powers 6)protagonist needs to have it explained by the elder matriarch who she hasn’t seen in years 7)minority characters 8)gifted their outfit by their family members

The fight between Maya and DD was SO cringe. Everything about it. The poor camera cuts and choreography, where its obvious they are missing each other constantly. Maya giving body blows with her bare fists to a guy wearing a body armor. DD smacking her left and right with his sticks and she just tanks them. Ridiculous.

This is a prime example of oversaturation from Marvel. This is a TV show spin-off to a TV show, which sets up other TV shows. To watch the new season of Daredevil, you're going to have to watch Hawkeye, Black Widow, She-Hulk, Echo, and probably another 6-9 episode TV show. It's all too much.

....and thats all on top of All three seasons of Netflix's Daredevil (39 episodes), but also the Defenders series due to taking place between S2 and S3 (8 episodes), as well as Season 1 of Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist for context on that show (13 episodes each).

I was hoping the show would be at least 8 episodes. Where the first half would be a prequel to Hawkeye, and deal with her working for fisk and having run ins with daredevil, whereas the 2nd half would be the consequences of shooting fisk. On top of that the poorly developed powers were so jarring. Itd be cool if only maya was affected by the powers in terms of having more focus and reflexes rather than sudden super strength. And man was it off putting when the grandma and bonnie also gained powers...

IIRC there was a comic book arc in which Echo did shoot Kingpin in the head, but I think that resulted in more debilitating effects (I think he was temporarily blind?) other than him wearing an eye patch

This show had so much potential and it was just... mid? Powers were left ambiguous, action scenes were jarring and poorly edited even though some of the choreography was great. The family drama was the best bit of the show. The conflict between Chula and Maya was nicely done and the genuine support of Skully was very good and realistic.

Dude the actor couldn’t fight and it showed. She’s slow because she not in very good shape and has no combat training. The camera just speeds up her punches. Go look at the fights, there was so much space between fighters.

In short: In the comics Fisk is Maya's father, they have eliminated this and without this there is no reason for Echo's existence.

I think a good metric to judge these Disney plus shows is whether or not they justify their existence as a television show. Or if they end up being movies that are unnaturally stretched out over several episodes. Unfortunately, echo is the latter even though, I did want to enjoy it and I do feel like. It had its moments. I think it's amazing that the Choctaw tribe got to have this kind of high level production representing them. And that Alacqua Cox got the chance to portray this character alongside Vincent Dinofrio as Kingpin, and the true to form Daredevil cameo; those are things to be grateful about at least.

Don't know if you'll see this, but I just wanted to say how happy I am that you've returned to making videos after the hack. I was unsubbed because of the deluge of scam videos, but noticed today that you got the channel back, and I instantly resumed my subscription. Looking forward to all of your future videos.

Fisk coming back in Echo is like "Somehow Palpatine returned" except we already know he will come back. That patch did not make up for the anticipation we had on the Hawkeye series. Did not even showed Fisk's plot armour.

Great review. sadly, many over trying to overrate it by saying things like " It's better than Secret Invasion and She Hulk." as if that's saying something.

Honestly, as much as She Hulk is ass, Echo and Secret Invasion are the far more insulting shows due to having immaculate potential (unlike She Hulk) that Disney either failed to harness or didn't bother grabbing at all.

Echo isn't a " fresh character" she's been a character since 99

The argument that the show needed more run time is patently stupid. More scenes of people standing around explaining things is not going to make this show any better.

I enjoyed the show overall, the last episode had me cringing. I like the show more so, cause I am American Indian. There were a lot of jokes and references, that were inside that only reservation Natives would understand. For example, in the dinner scene, 4th episode, I laughed hard when Maya served Fisk Shasta Cola. This is a reservation thing, that more than likely went over many people's heads.

I was shocked as adults Maya and Bonnie only really had one scene together where they talked. Biscuits was cool. Daredevil and Kingpin were Great. I did like Echo tbh. Would like to see her again. Not great tho.. She Hulk is still the worst MCU show ever. I would even take super boring Iron Fist season 1 over She Hulk lol

Honestly I’d give the show a 6.5 out of 10 mostly for the new information I’ve learned, but I agree that the show needed more episodes.

I have heard rumours the show was longer but got chopped a bunch and reshot over and over again. It also doesn't help that these Disney+ shows don't have showrunners nor are they preplanned.

Looks like it missed 6 episodes How she got shot? How she supose to took control over fisk empire in oklahoma?. Why Wilson fisk is free after thr end daredevil season 3?. Where is Vanesa?. Why the bad guy wanted to shot an rpg?. Where his cousin get that monster truck? Etc looks like 6 episodes are missing

I haven't seen this show (apathy for MCU) but going on the info in the video, wouldn't it be so much more interesting if the show was about adult echo meeting fisk and developing into his creature as an adult? This avoids the retcon of her not being in daredevil and the real tension of the show is whether she'll continue down a dark path or if she can rekindle her relationship with her family. Just a thought

This show was absolutely amazing I sat down and watched it all why are people complaining I really think most of you that hate and complain have some major issues like it’s a move/tv series just sit and enjoy it I’m from Oklahoma so this whole series really hit home with me I think it’s one of the best projects they’ve put out in a while tho that’s for sure

The problem with killers of the flower moon is it’s from a euro-perspective. A better show to watch is little bird it’s more than 3 hrs. But it needed to be. Like this show needed to be.

I like your commentary. Agree with a lot of it. Just wanted to say that people do survive gun shot wounds to the head. The brain is a very complicated organ. Some parts are absolutely critical for vital functions. Other parts less so. They could have given him some kind of aphasia or something. But still. I think people are overstating the impossibility of survival. Not all bullets are high calibre that expand on impact.

Bro really hates the audience. Wishing MORE Echo on them is cruel and unusual. The Hawkeye scenes should have been cut entirely. Recap episodes are an anime copout everyone skips over. We don't want more of it. And if they can't properly cover all of these "story elements", then they have too many of them. Cut those story elements entirely and properly fill out the ones worth keeping. More Echo isn't the answer. The answer is a simpler Echo.

The magical elements took away any edge or sense of tension the show coudlve had. Couldve worked but it was way too short. And too pg 13. Aside from a few scenes, the tone was pretty average MCU flair

That show could had be so fucking good but Marvel blew it (again). The had actors like Graham Green, Tantoo Cardinal and Chaskey Spencer and did nothing with them. They had the chance to explain things from Hawkeye and insert Maya to Daredevil lore. Oh what a waste... Anyway I really hope we see Maya again in (hopefully) Daredevil. I liked the potential of the character and I really liked Alaqua Cox.

Matt isn’t a weak person in Daredevil either, yet we’re still allowed to see his vulnerable side and how sustainable he is to injury. At the end of the day he’s just a man who can get hurt and die like the rest of us, and it really feels like he’s one individual against an entire crime organization. Echo just has Maya’s major injuries brushed off like they’re nothing and doesn’t give off a sense of urgency or tension from what should be a massive conflict. So I ask, what’s your point?

Echo is basically Arya after coming back to winterfell, grumpy and annoying.

I strongly disagree. The show felt like it was stretched so thin with so many scenes that only existed to extend the runtime. By the time the show ended, it felt like nothing had happened.
