Alright, so I just finished watching Echo and boy how they massacred my Kingpin! The insanity with the writing in this show is beyond anything I can imagine. I can't believe with that much potential, they just wasted Echo completely! The Native American story line, Maya's struggles, Kingpin's involvement and yet they couldn't make a proper show. The "Marvel" fanboy in me is literally crying.

    I think they actually need to make everything a maximum of 4-5 episodes, because pretty much every show goes a little too slow until the final or final two episodes and then they suddenly try wrapping things up in a hurry. The longer format has not exactly done any favors as they don't seem to use the longer runtime wisely so it's best to just cut them short while trying to make them as compelling as possible.

    It was odd how Maya's actions had no consequences. There was a lack of fear for her grandmother and cousin when they were captured, and Maya herself didn't seem scared for them at all. Even her cousin and uncle easily defeated the henchmen with a gun and a monster truck. On the other hand, in Daredevil Season 3, the episode where Karen visits Kingpin's hotel room created a sense of fear from Karen's point of view. The conversation between them was tense, especially when she revealed Wesley's death and how she was responsible for it. For a moment, it felt like Kingpin might kill her after hearing about Wesley's death. The build-up was so intense that even for a moment, I felt anxious. However, in "ECHO," it felt like playing GTA Vice City with the cheat code "LEAVEMEALONE." I hope they don't mess it up in Daredevil: Born Again and maintain the high standard set by Netflix

  • @AbhijeetMishra

    @AbhijeetMishra

    3 ай бұрын

    Well, to be fair nothing has any consequences anymore and we're just supposed to forgive everyone and forget what happened earlier. Wanda was understandably grief-stricken and couldn't help but do the whole mind control thing in WandaVision, but Monica telling her that "they won't understand what you sacrificed for them" just came off wrong, even if she was saying it based on how Wanda had to kill Vision in Infinity War. Then there's Loki, who was too quickly turned into a hero in his TV show, and Eternals had this huge Celestial sticking out of the Earth that has been almost completely ignored. And Secret Invasion ended with one character having the powers of all the Avengers from the Endgame battle, a character they will either have to forget and not include in future shows and movies or make an excuse such as "the serum that gave her the powers wore off". Also, I'm pretty sure they'll mess up Daredevil, though thankfully I never watched the Netflix shows so I guess it will be less problematic for me, haha.

    Their scrips have devolved into those childhood hero stories where with the power of friendship and love, the day is saved and now everyone is happy and yay! Everyone is now strong. With a moral of the story at the end. These are the same people who managed to show real life responsibilities, strengths, weaknesses, the humanity in other heroes like Iron Man. Where they were able to show his strength (his smartness), his weakness (addiction, instability), his personality, his growth, everything. They played him like a person who earned his powers and had to deal with heavy consequences for it. Unlike whatever garbage this is. This feels like a show for children and even then its not worth it

  • @lucasjohnson6

    I know! I cringe so much whenever they introduce a child character and act like it's the end of the world if anything happens to this precious child. It's so dumb what Marvel has come to recently, a real step down from the original and impactful beginning phases.

    They do seem to be going pretty hard with the whole Young Avengers thing as well, and there certainly are people on Twitter/X who say they enjoy the new stuff coming from Marvel, so perhaps Marvel isn't interested in pleasing fans who were around during the first decade anymore, though it seems more like they don't care about anything anymore and are simply fulfilling quotas and making content for the sake of it.

  • @Coco-Loco

    @Coco-Loco

    @@AbhijeetMishra I noticed how much they've been focusing on young Avengers too. It's like they're trying for another Avengers like massive saga except well, it doesn't have any of the qualities that Avengers had. Avengers had all the characters in basically their infancy. They were all just getting started. They didn't know themselves well, they were learning to deal with their responsibilities, unlike these new kids who just gain powers and voila, now they're just better than human. IronMan had to learn about himself, his addictions, his needs and his responsibilities. Capn had to learn about the new present, how to lead a team of people who weren't soilders, learn more humanity. Banner had to learn about himself, him being an uncontrollable monster, learn to accept himself and understand himself to finally gain control of himself. Thor had to realise that even tho he was a god, he still had just as much humanity in him, he wasn't inherently superior and that his powers were to help, not to brag. I can keep going on but you get the point. The new Avengers do not have any of these qualities. They seem to all be perfect to begin with or their problems are so unrelatable and weird that it doesn't even matter. Not like they can't make these characters super well, they are good characters, just not written and directed well at all.

  • @AbhijeetMishra

    @AbhijeetMishra

    3 ай бұрын

    @@Coco-LocoOn top of that, the problem is that the characters are just not crossing over enough. They should have leaned on the team-up part hard after Civil War, Infinity War, and Endgame, but it's like they almost went back to square one and started all over again and also decided to stop writing characters well. The lack of an Avengers/team-up film after every few movies and them only having two at the end of it all is another thing that will bite them in the a**. The movies they're making are all turning out to be mediocre, and while not all the movies in the first three phases were great, the idea of regular teamups every few years kept people interested. Not many will be lining up to watch Kang Dynasty (or whatever it gets renamed to) and Secret Wars as a result. Feels like they are overconfident that no matter how bad we do everything, people will line up for the next two Avengers movies just based on the name alone, but that probably isn't going to be the case judging by how the reception of recent Marvel content has been going. P.S.: As far as Kang is concerned, I actually think it's a good thing Jonathan Majors isn't going to be around anymore. They were clearly failing at making Kang feel menacing and now it's a good chance to pivot and introduce a proper villain that feels more like a threat.

    6:37 This part got me. Do the writwrs havw absolutely no clue how physics work? Every superpower in any fiction has a root, either Godly like Thor's, or magical like Dr. Strange, or acquired by normal person by either some science or accident/experiment or developed by years of practice like Hawkeye or black widow. One doesn't just get powers because they get emotional because then everyone would be having superpowers. Also it ruins te arc. Iron man wasn't loved because he was a billionaire or cocky or intelligent. He was iron man because he made a flying suit in a cave with scrap iron while having a crude piece of electromagnet in his heart to stop the fragments of the grenade explosion earlier to reach his heart. Imagine if he somehow just had gotten powers in that cave because he got emotional after seeing his father's legacy being used by terrorists. (Stark industries' weapons were used by those terrorists.)

    I see what you're saying about D'Onofrio being underutilized in Echo. This series was written & filmed in 2021-2022, under previous Guild working conditions, which means the writers weren't being given the appreciation & compensation they deserved. Hopefully after the recent WGA/SAG strikes there will be even better writing than before, if they do a Season 2 of this show D'Onofrio could play such a huge part!

    As much as I enjoyed it and followed the good in the making of it from cast and backgrounds, I’d be lying if I say I disagree with ya. Just like Secret Invasion or others, there’s seems to be elements that is missing that’s pretty much be sum up on what can Marvel be allowed to put. Vincent is one of example, maybe the only, is who can carry the show but was only to be dragged for the sake of content on Disney’s demands. I believe they still have the leash on how much they want to pull such because of the brand. As the first installment of Marvel Spotlight, not bad in general but a bad sting by a dart the missed the target.

    The writers of Echo left numerous intriguing questions hanging in the air, neglecting to address even a fraction of them! 😤 Why did she return to Tamaha and orchestrate the train-jacking if her ultimate plan was to bomb the storage in New York? What transpired in the shed during Maya's first kill, and what was Daredevil's role in that scenario? Why did Kingpin desire Maya's allegiance despite her shooting him in the face? Who was behind the orchestrated accident that claimed Maya's mom? Why did Maya manifest her powers only now, instead of earlier when she faced even more perilous situations working with Kingpin? And what exactly is the nature of her newfound abilities? Echo seems more like a production designed to expend resources and keep the team busy rather than a creation fueled by substantial material! 😢
