I get the logic here and I can see that. But I could be wrong as I don't watch him much at all, but wasn't part of the reason so he could start doing irl content with George and Sapnap, as George came to live with him in America. He could still wear the mask but it's more awkward as he can't just film and so on, so having his face out there as this is me makes this more easily possible.

Not a dream Stan or even follower of his content, but while he was right, the video came off in really bad faith. Because as much as Dream is a brand, it’s also tied to a person so even if it’s an analysis of what’s seemingly a brand decision, it doesn’t remove the fact that it’s still connected to a person. Plus, keep in mind historically on KZread face reveals have been seen as this huge celebration of fan support and creator accomplishment so for this video to come out and say “it was a bad move” sort of reads as “you don’t deserve to celebrate”. Now of course face reveals have had their meanings changed and channels are more corporatized so it’s not a bad thing to do, but that doesn’t remove the basis for those backlash comments made.

You left out the fact that Dream hyped up his face reveal and had tons of influencers help him build the hype. He randomly FaceTimed several popular influencers while they were live or recording and they all had shocked faces when he face revealed. It gave people the impression that he had something unique about his appearance. His fans probably felt duped when they realized he was just an average guy and the reactions were over exaggerated. They probably felt annoyed that Dream focused on commoditizing his face instead of treating it like an opportunity to be closer with his fans. Edit: guys it doesn’t matter if you personally think he’s handsome or ugly. The root of the issue is the fact that he got his friends to hype up his face reveal to the point of creating unrealistic expectations of how “shocking” his real face was. Are his fans wrong for insulting him over his appearance? Yes. Did he contribute to his fan’s unrealistic expectations by purposely overhyping himself? Also yes. Neither side is completely innocent.

I don't think he revealed his face to his influencer friends to build hype around his own face, but instead to show them his face, probably because he feels they deserve to see him first before the public. He did say he's known some of his influencer friends for a long time but they hadn't seen him. However you're right he indirectly hyped up his face reveal with the reactions from his influencer friends. Based on the way some of them reacted, fans definitely were more intruiged and probably had high standards.

I feel like Dream got bullied so much for his face reveal because of the aura surrounding it. Dream's face was a huge mystery to everyone, regardless of whether you were a fan or a troll. Dream's worst mistake wasn't showing his face, Dream's worst mistake was not showing his face until all his fans had unrealistically high expectations about his appearance, expecting him to look like a deity, when in reality, he was just a guy. If he'd kept the mask on it would've been fine, if he showed his face when he was a small creator, he probably wouldn't have gotten so popular but that smaller popularity would've been something he could ride on for a while

It's almost like people wanted to "humble" him and make him realize he wasn't that much of a big deal like he seemingly portrayed himself to be. I truly feel if he had been a lot more casual about it and didn't make such a big fuzz, he would have gotten a lot less hate. Of course some hate would still be inevitable, a lot of people genuinely don't like him and took that opportunity to be assholes but one of his main pitfalls was definitely getting other streamers to react and act like he was some gigachad. Doing a face reveal for stans is the equivalent of seeing a movie made of your favorite book. The movie never measures up. You always have a picture in your head of how the main character will look and any differences feel very strange. So stans are struggling to reconcile the mental image they have of him with his true image. It doesn't excuse fans from being assholes but yeah.

Compared to most guys if he had a better style hairstyle and more attractive sort of personality and kept the weight off you could pull in 8.5 out of 10 maybe even a nine for some girls that are more gullible but the reality is he is more like a 7.5 out of 10. This was realistically just all the internet's Dream haters coming out to clown on him, lets be real, there were plenty of people who didn't insult him but seemed like a quiet majority to me.

I think he just wanted peace of mind. It's probably very stressful knowing everyone wants to know what you look like. I can only imagine someone stalking his family members just to get a glimpse of dream himself. He also talked about how he couldn't go outside for weeks because of people trying to see what he looks like(this is because people knew where sapnap lived or guessed.)

Okay, in all honesty, Dream is never ugly. He's just an average guy. But the way the lighting is placed, the face that his head is always turned sideway and it seemed like he was jutting out his face out a little bit, made his jaw highlighted in an unflattering angle. The biggest mistake was the promotion he did beforehand where he got all his influencer friends to react and tweet things like, "Dream looks like an anime character" etc. As soon as I saw those posts, I knew this was gonna end badly. I'm not saying his friends had to be rude, but they shouldn't of fuelled the "Dream is gorgeous" expectations knowing he wasn’t going to meet it...

@@notN329people always want to be seen as the victim these days even when shit hasn’t even got to do with them they’ll claim they are victims or they witnessed everything even though they didn’t people just want attention and to have people give them sympathy while the falsely accused get sent down with no evidence because girls get away with that shit and girls groom too and they don’t get half as much time as males do for the same crimes it’s bullshit call me sexiest all you want it’s true men get way more time than women do the system is corrupt but still the falsely accused shouldn’t be put in jail until they have evidence for it not on just a word of mouth

but i feel like that’s how it looks on the outside. dude was saying he hadn’t left his house in 2 years & had to watch all his friends meet up w each other while he’s sitting at home just to protect his identity. i feel like that shit got realll depressing for him

That may be it. He saw his channel dying and thought "ok, before I become completely irrelevant I´m gonna go viral one last time, and then I´ll be able to live peacefully with my friends, and retire eventually" He has the money already, now all he has to worry about is regaining his long-lost social skills (sorry but t´s true, dude is awkward af for obvious reasons💀)
