Molygen meets the specs they just didn't go through with licensing it. All the synthetic oil Liqui Moly makes is recommended and meets the specs that VW set forth, but they didn't license every product because that costs money. But yes a car manufacturer can still take you out of your warranty for not using oil that is "approved" but this is still quality oil that meets specs and I'm not worried about using it.

It's about liability. As a business, you want to avoid offering a kit that may possibly put you in hot water to pay for parts and labor. Not everyone will buy a product and accept personal responsibility for buying an oil not officially approved by the manufacturer during the warranty period. It just depends if the buyer is conscious enough to take that personal risk without making the vendor (DAP) liable.

So why do you have an LM Dsg fluid change kit when it's only recommended and not approved?

Hi, so I had to message Liquid Moly about this for MB 229.5 requirements , the response was that it does met the requirement for the approvals , but the reason they do not have an official approval from Mercedes is because Mercedes does not have an approval procedure for Molygen oils at this time .

It doesn't meet the guidelines because of the dye that it has, not because of any of the properties of the oil.

I thought this too....but, if you look closer at other Liqui Moly oils like Leichtlauf High Tech, the 502/505 specs are approved whereas for Molygen it just says it recommends it for those specs... As Paul stated though, he is trying to make sure he doesn't sell a kit that could possibly cause warranty issues. You probably won't and you probably won't have any mechanical issue using the oil (keyword there is probably, I do not definitely know). I have been using Molygen (mainly because I saw the spec, but didn't realize it wasn't approved) and I've had no issues...under 30k miles, but stage 2, and it doesn't seem like I lose a drop between oil changes and oil temps were actual a tad lower than Motul X-clean)

I just used molygen I'm my 2008 silverado with ac delco ultra guard oil filter because it was on sale and I was super curious since the truck was new it's had mobil 1 5w30 still has all the original gaskets with 226,432

Same asking, buy it also, but after see molygen..will change it to only molygen or also add litlle bit Mos2 the Grey color plastic oil..

I was going to buy this oil tomorrow. Thanks for advising--I'll stick to the approved oil instead. I didn't realize this was only a "recommended" oil. You guys are awesome!

@@joshuam7552 This is the best oil for your car bruh. I have 2016 c63s amg and the oem oil is mobil 1. I switched to molygen and my engine temp fell by a good 15-20F

Because it will make your engine last longer, which is counterproductive to their profit goals. They want you in the shop more often, and they want you to buy more cars over your lifetime.

@@ivdubgti I started running it on my ea888 gen3 1.8t. It does run smoother, but sometimes I think its too smooth for longer running engines since I got 110xxx
