The thing with that verse, is that it's taken out of context. The SDA church teaches that laws and commandment ALWAYS refers to the Decalog. But it doesn't. Jesus makes this statement after giving the Sermon on the Mount. We get NEW laws, to go with the NEW covenant.

The book of Acts shows the apostles kept the Sabbath Day holy. In the Gospels, Jesus said that He is the Lord of the Sabbath. The Judaizers in the book of Acts were concerned about the Gentiles being circumcised. If the Gentile believers were not keeping the Sabbath, that would have been an even bigger concern for the Judaizers. However, in Acts 13:44, nearly the whole city of Pisidian Antioch came to hear Paul and Barnabas preach on the Sabbath. (That city was a Gentile city far from Jerusalem.) The Gentiles rejoiced to hear the Gospel, and many believed and were saved.

Paul and Barnabas PREACHED on th Sabbath - because that's where the Jews were. 🤷‍♀️

@@CAmom75 If you read these verses (Acts 13:44-50), you will realize the Gentiles were there to hear the Gospel. Nearly the whole Gentile city of Pisidian Antioch came to here the apostles preach (verse 44).

​@ronwallie3207 yes. But when you read and understand the New Testament as whole, that verse doesn't change anything. Them preaching in the temple is no different than if everyone in a small town went to the current Jewish Synagogue, simply because it was the largest building. I would start with Galations

Simple Bible Truth!

I just watched a intense documentary, where it said the Roman catholic church originally only wanted the Bible written in Latin, and only translated through Latin priests, then they had conflict with Henry the 8th king who then made his own version of the Bible, close to the Latin version but omitting certain books of the Bible, then I find out the book of Enoch has mostly been omitted from a lot of different bibles, and this same thing happened, different cultures, and different branches of Christianity ,they produced their own version of the Bible, so my question is, what is a good Bible to own, English written, that would be good for me to own, without having any passages omitted, or that's been altered in some way by the hands of man?thanks for any feedback ahead of time, God bless you all in Jesus name

[16] Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: [17] which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ Colossians 2:16-17 KJV‬ In my opinion these verses are quite clear that you have to keep the sabbath / a rest day, which can be Saturday, Sunday or any other day of the week. What do you think about this when you are defending the Saturday sabbath?

@roopeseppanen8347 Did you not read, vs 17, "Shadow of things TO COME?" So if the sabbath days spoken of here were shadow of things to come meaning they were pointing FORWARD, right? If you go back and read Leviticus 23 you will notice that there several annual, ceremonial sabbaths connected to the sanctuary service which were abolished when Jesus died on the cross when the veil of the temple was rent in two signalling the end of the ceremonial system by the death of Jesus. (Regarding the shadows in Col 2:17 see Lev. 23:24, 32, 38, 39 or you might like to just read from verse 24 to the end to get the whole context) Regarding the Weekly Sabbath, if you read Exodus 20:8-11 you will notice that this Sabbath did not point forward but rather POINTED BACK TO CREATION and the creation was not a shadow of anything. I hope you can see that?

I have a question, I know there are a few different theories, what's someone's thoughts about the holy grail?I lean more towards the cup Jesus shared at the last supper, sorry for going off topic about the sabbath, which I set a alarm ⏰️ now to pray and worship and give thanks to our father and Jesus so I don't forget, was watching a documentary about how the knights Templars could have hidden the grail, if it is indeed a item and not the other theory of being Christ's bloodline which also is possible,sorry for rambling.

Brother there was no command to keep the Sabbath before the law of Moses. I dont think any of the protestant reformers said to keep the Sabbath. no New Testament commands tell us to keep Sabbath. IF you feel a conviction then keep it, but we do not have to keep it. JEsus kept it because he had to keep the law to free us from sin, but he also did the passover which we are not required to do. in Acts 15 we are not required to keep Sabbath at the council.

Romans 4:15 tells us that where there is no law there is no transgression and yet Cain’s transgression was counted and so were the transgressions of the people in the days of Noah. They were all punished for their transgressions… how could they be punished for their transgressions if there was no law? That would directly contradict both Romans 4:15 and a commonsensical understanding of justice. How could people be punished for something they were never told was wrong. The law clearly existed before Mount Sinai. Furthermore, we know that man was made on the 6th day and that the Sabbath was made for man (Mark 2:27) on the 7th day. So God made the Sabbath for man after he made man and He didn’t tell man about it? That is completely illogical. God told Adam, Eve, and their children about sacrifices (Genesis 4:3-4), but didn’t tell them about the Sabbath which He made for them? God told Cain about the 6th commandment (Genesis 4:10-11), but didn’t tell him about the Sabbath which He made for him? God told Noah about clean and unclean animals (Genesis 7:2), but didn’t tell him about the Sabbath which He made for him? God told Abraham about all sorts of commandments, statutes, and laws (Genesis 26:5), but didn’t tell him about the Sabbath which He made for him? God told Joseph about the 7th commandment (Genesis 39:9-10), but didn’t tell him about the Sabbath which He made for him? In Exodus 16 the people did not keep God’s Sabbath and in verse 28 God asks “How long will you refuse to keep my commandments and my laws?” What laws? Mount Sinai had not yet taken place and the Israelites already had commandments and laws? God’s law has always existed and it was given to man to keep them from sin so that they would not suffer. God’s law is a blessing and delight to those who love Him (Psalm 119). The Sabbath specifically is a reminder that God will sanctify us apart from our works just like He sanctified the Sabbath (Exodus 31:13, Ezekiel 20:12). The Sabbath has existed since Adam and will continue through eternity (Isaiah 66:23) as a great blessing of rest and a reminder of our loving Creator. There is a big difference between the 10 commandments, the moral law, and the ceremonial laws. Acts 15 also doesn’t mention the third commandment. Does that mean that you can take the Lord’s name in vain?

Firstly, it's not the law of Moses, It's God Law, that was written in the 10 commandments that God wants his people to keep and to remember before the dreadful day of the LORD (Malachi 4:4, Deuteronomy 5). There was no written or mentioned law against adultery or stealing before the law of Moses, are these commandments of God okay to break as well? The New Testament commandment you are looking for is in Hebrews 4:1-11 speaks extensively of keeping the Sabbath, "Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief." And none is greater than our Lord Jesus who said in Matthew 5:17-19 "17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." I think a lot of this comes from a desire to follow the customs of men over the commandments of God. It's strange that morality hangs on every other law of God from the 10 Commandments (Don't covet, don't steal, don't worship idols etc.) But for some reason there always seems to be a problem with the 4th law God gave in the same manner as the others. Have you ever wondered why? The one law, expressing His desire is to give us rest and a specific holy Day (God has never made any other day Holy) to celebrate Him is so utterly despised or ignored by those who desire to be called by His Name. Though the traditions of men bended and shifted, the Bible gives us no indication that God ever made a change, God remains the same eternally. I desire to try to keep the law of God, through the power of the Holy Spirit. His Word never changes, Amen.

Actually, on the Sabbath day in the Old Testament people were not supposed to work at all and on the 1st day of the week they were to do only menial labor, so when say 7th Day Adventists do so much menial labor on the Sabbath in the church, serving food, etc... hmmm... I remember this. Going to the temple on the first day of the week was in the Old Testament and on the Sabbath. So seriously, I am sick of hearing this anyway. If you only have the 10 commandments the is no mention of going to the Temple at all. It is only by looking at the rest of the Law that makes us know that going to the Teme was apart of it. This topic grows old and in fact is a wate of time if they want to say other Christians are breaking the Sabbath by going to church on Sunday especially considering the menial labor required by modetn Sabbath day churches not just SDA.
