WHY DON'T ALL CHRISTIANS--KEEP THE SABBATH?

Does it help someone get to Heaven if they observe the Sabbath?
Is that Sabbath Day on Saturday or Sunday?
Does God want us to observe all His Sabbath laws?
Is it a sin to work on Sunday if that is the Sabbath Day?
If the Sabbath is in the Bible, why do modern-day Christians not keep the Sabbath?

The Sabbath was created and the seventh day sanctified in GENESIS, not Exodus. The Jews were commanded to "REMEMBER" the Sabbath and to "KEEP IT HOLY". The day itself was sanctified by God long before there were Jews, it is NOT sanctified only for them. It serves a prophetic pattern of sevens throughout the Bible. When Jesus said the Sabbath was created for man He was speaking to the Pharisee doctrines that caused the day to be a burden rather than a sanctified and joyous day of communion with the Lord. How do we love God? We KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS. The emphasis on keeping the Sabbath is mentioned throughout the Bible. It must be important to God. The 7th day Sabbath in the 10 commandments is for all who are grafted in to the vine, which is Christ. (Romans 11) He is the same yesterday, today and forever. There is NOTHING in the Bible saying Sunday is the Lord's day.

And that commandment is Love. Read Jn. 13:34. " A new commandment I give unto you:. Love one another. As I have loved you, so you also must love one another. You are thinking of the OT commandments. Christ fulfilled the Law for us. Also, look at Gal. 3:2-3. Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law, or by hearing with faith. 3. . . are you now finishing in the flesh. And vs 5. The Law is a covenant "do's and dont's" The New Covenant is the law of the Spirit. We really need to study the Word for ourselves and not follow doctrinal teaching too much. Learn what God is teaching you and follow that. He who has ears to hear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. Revelatiuons. Listen to the Spirit of God, not man.

@7:00 I agree with Jesus... "The Sabbath was made for men." That doesn't mean you shouldn't observe it. In fact I'd say that you should observe it based on that comment alone. Love fulfills all the law? So why do we still not lie, lust or kill (or try not to), but we leave out one of the ten commandments? How does it make sense that an all knowing God would list 10 things we should observe, but yet one of them became obsolete? That is why so many atheists have valid arguments. An all knowing never changing God changed His mind. I think the problem we always face is this: context. In the context of salvation, we do not need to keep any of the teachings of God because "LOVE" fulfilled all the laws (Love here being Jesus Himself, the God incarnate). However, serving and living for God is a different context. Just like we do our best not to lie, steal, kill, lust and to follow all other of God's commands we should observe the Sabbath as He commanded. Not to be saved, but to be grateful for our salvation and to be an example for other. To be, as you put it, different. Be holy for I am holy. Holy means set apart and different. I would love to talk to you more about this. Love ya brother. Shalom.

@@John-redc If I go by the speed limit in my street and fulfill the law it doesn't mean that the next person who drives down the road doesn't have to observe the speed limit. Christ said it Himself, "do not think I came to do away with the law, I came to fulfill it". If your logic is correct, then I guess we can sin without consequence? I think we're back to the context issue. I agree that we do not need to work for salvation, but I do not agree that we do not need to observe the laws after salvation. Faith without works is dead. I don't observe the Sabbath or some of the laws (especially the 10 commandments) so I can be saved. I observe them because I am saved. I think Christ was pretty clear on all that. Reading the letters of Paul without understanding what Paul understood is where we draw wrong conclusions. We see the early church followers observing the Sabbath and feasts even after the death and resurrection of Christ. Shalom.

@3:13 Sabbath was established in creation as a covenant with "mankind" not Israel. The food laws, clean versus unclean, was established prior to Israel as well. At the time of Noah and the flood God had already these established teachings as he told Noah to take clean and unclean animals unto the ark. Circumcision was established before Israel. It was a covenant mark made with Abraham (Abram at the time). All these teachings and observances were followed prior to Israel and observed by the early church (who were mostly Jewish believers). The 4th commandment of keeping the Sabbath was never done away with by Jesus. I enjoy most of your teachings, but I was hoping for better reasoning behind this question and I hope you reconsider your position based on scriptures. Thanks for your channel and teachings. @kbmonday82 The catholic cult has pretty much made Sunday into the "Sabbath", this is where the confusion comes from. But I agree with what you said. Here is my conclusion: It is either the Sabbath that we "must remember" or nothing, it is most certainly NOT the Sunday that we must keep holy. The catholic cult confuses the believers regarding many things, and the most important of all is how we are saved. Salvation according to christianity is simple, it is by grace through faith in Christ! Salvation according to the cult of catholicism is faith + a bunch of other things (laws and rules and traditions).

Along with other things on this Journey of forgetting the way I was raised and learning and applying the Word of God into my life. 1 thing I have learned is to not pay attention to what the Governments are saying. Know it but don't follow it. If that makes sense. 2. Have Faith no matter what is going on. Weather, Hard times. Just have Faith that God will pull us through. 3. Don't get too far caught up in worldly things. This one is difficult. But I have Faith that God will pull me through this one as well as Denying myself. 4 Believe the Word of God, and when I struggle to understand Believe that when I pray to God for understanding He will give me this, Even when I am not paying attention. I don't believe in legalism either, we do have freedom from law. I am so very thankful for the finished work of our Lord, Savior, and Messiah, the Son of God Jesus Christ, who died for remission of our sins and was raised. I, being only one member of the body, may have been called to more obedience than some. Perhaps for my great disobedience in my youth. I am not saying that worshipping on Sunday is wrong, but I do stand by every word of scripture. I keep the Sabbath and it has become a great blessing for me and my family. There isn't anything wrong with churches either, as we are supposed to gather and reason together. However, this idea of a distinct separation between the ekklesia and Israel is not scriptural, nor originated with the church fathers. We all need to test our doctrine with scripture, because we are all sinners and imperfect, and only through Jesus Christ can we have righteousness. All of us Christians have our own Talmud of sorts to overcome, manmade tradition that doesn't come from scripture. That was what the Pharisees did, and legalistic. Jesus wants all of our heart in a relationship with Him. That is the circumcized heart. Circumcision of the flesh is unimportant. If you follow the commandments and judgements out of love, you have freedom. If you try to use it as law to condemn others, then you are being legalistic. As our Mighty King and Messiah said in John 8:7 "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." The tanak is to convict us of sin and show how much we need Jesus' forgiveness, It is not a cudgel to use against others. Jesus Christ, Yeshua haMaschiach is the way, the truth, and the life, and no man comes to the Father but by Him. Something I would like to point out that you said "I prefer the way". Be careful you aren't choosing to worship God the way you want to instead of how He tells us. That is making the same mistake as the incident with the golden calf in Exo.

People are claiming that the entire law was done away with and the New Testament church does not have to abide by it. I would agree and disagree. The civil and ceremonial law were done away with because Jesus fulfilled it and became our High Priest forever. However, the moral law still remains until God creates a new heaven and new earth. Thus as described in the Old Testament we are still commanded to obey the 10 commandments hence Christian being forbidden from worshipping another god, murdering, adultery, stealing, bearing false witness, etc. Furthermore more, the Old Testament condemns rape bestiality, homosexuality, sorcery, necromancy, kidnapping, human sacrifice, burglary, etc. These things are not explicitly mentioned in the New Testament but are for sure required to be adhered to.

John Barnett, do you realize what you are saying? John was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, the Day of the Lord, the Sabbath, the 7th day of the week. I believe John was saying that he was in the spirit on the Day of the Lord, he was taken up in the Spirit ahead to the time of the Day of the Lord. John was taken ahead in time (while in the Spirit) to the Day of the Lord, then given a look at what is coming when Christ returns. John, I've heard you twist this thing about the Sabbath in many of your teachings and I don't believe it's malicious or anything, or believe it was meant to mislead, but it's there and it's prevalent. I believe it came from seminary. The most attacked institution on earth is seminary. The reason I say this is because all satan has to do is twist a few key elements ever so slightly in seminary and it gets broadcast by all the pastors, to all the churches. I've commented about the Sabbath many times over the years because this is one place where I believe you might have done well to listen to what the Spirit says to the Churches. The Lord's Day is the 7th day. It's the day of rest. The 7th or final Millennium will be the last millenial sabbath, it is the DAY OF THE LORD when Christ returns. Christ's death marked the end of the day, Wednesday and his ressurection (3 days & 3 nights) marked the end of the Sabbath aka Day of the Lord. God did not have his son raised up on Sungod day, he orchestrated everything precisely and I believe Satan, and the fake church (Catholicism) distorted these facts, very subtly, on purpose to lead millions of people to hell. I know what I am talking about, you see, I received the gift of Spirit the Knowledge of the Word of God and feel it is my ministry to bring key issues like this to the fore as we wind down the last of the 6th day. The Day of the Lord is closer than most people understand. God bless all my brothers & sisters in Christ. Maranantha

Brother, I would say that the Lords day on Sunday is the new Sabbath that we must keep. Just like the Lords Supper which replaced the pass over meal that we must keep also. I truly hope that you take the same literal reading and observance of the Scripture because the Nazarene denomination does not. I attended a Nazarene University and studied in their Theology Department… They believe in being a “big tent” so their articles of faith allows for theistic evolution (which butchers the doctrine of original sin in Romans 5 & 1Corinth15:21-22) and they ordain female pastors (which is contrary to 1Tim3; Titus1; & 1Pet5). The Nazarene Church may appear to be conservative but they undermine the Scriptures with their overt teaching of these incorrect doctrines. The University I attended has evolution as part of their Science department and the other Universities teach it too. Also COTN purposely dodged the inerrancy and infallibility stance on Scripture just to maintain this “big tent” idea, especially for the theistic evolution members. So they inserted the “plenary” language and profess that the scripture is infallible only in all things salvation just to appease both groups. Now there are open theist; and liberal professors and students that are advocating for LGBTQ affirming ideologies at Point Loma Nazarene University. So far the General Superintendents are having these professors and pastors step down. When I was attending a Nazarene University in the Midwest, the Emergent Church and Charismatics were on the rise. I foresee the COTN becoming allot like their mother denomination the United Methodist and they will eventually split into two camps. Modern church history has shown that once you open the doors for female pastors then LGBTQ affirmation begins to seep in due to the women and LGBTQ making the “cultural” argument. If a denomination can change their Articles of Faith every 4 years then that denomination is susceptible of swaying to the winds of the culture. It’s good to be confessional which that’s why I promote the Westminster Confession and the 1689 London Baptist confession which both confessionals have not be altered since their publication in the 1600s. Flee from the Church of the Nazarene because they are deeply compromised.

The Sabbath is a day of rest and worship. In Lev. 23:3, God says it is a holy convocation(commanded time of assembly). Christ said that man was not made for the Sabbath because the Pharisees had strict, unbiblical rules concerning how it was to be observed. Christ DIDN'T say that the Sabbath shouldn't be observed, but He DID say that it was made for everybody to observe. His problem was with HOW the Jews wanted it to be observed.

When the 10 Commandments were given God also stated that the sojourner were also to abide. Jesus/Yosuha rose on the third day/ Sabbath while the dead rose around the city. Then He rose on the third day, Sunday, which is when we celebrate, every week, just like is taught in this video. We do keep the Sabbath day holy and all the other days! @23:12 What an interesting clue. Maybe it is because the things of God are eternal and He never did away with them? They were revealed to mankind since the beginning and only because we lost these customs due to man made laws and customs we have neglected them. However, Jesus will restore it all in His kingdom on earth. I wonder why. I also wonder why the 4th commandment is the only one that God specifically says "remember the Sabbath, to keep it holy". Could it be because we would forget? And why Daniel (7:25) prophesies that in the last days the enemy would change the times and seasons (Moedim in Hebrew which are the appointed times in Leviticus 23 - which just so happens to be this week's Torah portion teachings). So many interesting questions and I think they answer themselves when we dive deeper into the scriptures. We forget that the early church was Jewish and that Jesus was Jewish and that the New Testament was written by Jews to Israelites (there is a difference between Jews and Israelites). Maybe we need to search deeper? What do you think?

@5:55 So your point is not that the Sabbath is not important to God, it is that if you keep it, them make sure you do it all? I don't think we need to follow the laws of Judaism. In fact, I believe they added to the word as Jesus said the Pharisees did. That is why many people think Jesus broke the Sabbath laws. He did not. He just broke the man made laws of the Pharisees. There is nothing in scripture that says you need to take an entire year off. It just says that you need to let the land rest (something that farmers actually do or the land dies off and becomes unfertile). The 49th year falls under the same observance, what I think you meant was the 50th year which is the Jubilee and that year you are supposed to forgive all debts. We have similar laws for bankruptcy that gets wiped off your record in 10 years (or something like that, I'm not sure the exact time frame, but I know it happens). Jesus said that if your sheep falls in a ditch you should get it out and it is always lawful to do good (so you can do good on the Sabbath). It isn't like Judaism where you can't even flip a light switch. It isn't just lay down and do nothing. It is devoting the day to doing good and serving God. So maybe we're just misinformed about what honoring Sabbath really means? What do you think?

[5]And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest. [8]For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. [9]There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. [10]For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. [11]Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. [12]For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

@14:40 John 20:1 states it was early on the first day of the week when Mary Magdalene came to the tomb. It says nothing about Jesus rising on Sunday. Because these were Jewish women who observed the Sabbath that they didn't go to the tomb before Sunday morning. They could have gone Saturday evening (after sun down), but because they were women it wouldn't be safe. So they went the first opportunity they had, which was Sunday very early in the morning. Interestingly enough, the angels told them Jesus was already gone. This means that Jesus rose from the dead most likely on the Sabbath and not Sunday. We have these pre-programmed answers in our minds, but if we really seek scripture we will see so many misconceptions that gets echoed over the years and just assume they are fact.

I mainly like this channel because it is scripture based, but in this instance, I think it is leading people astray. The 10 commandments do not talk about Lord's day nor do they mention Sunday. Sabath is friday evening to saturday evening. You can mansplain away all of the dietary things from ceremonial law, but the 10 commandments must not be "interpreted". They are clear and concise. They mean exactly what they say. There are only 10 commandments and you will receive a tailwind of blessings for following all of them.

Didn’t Jesus say that He did not come to abolish the law but to fulfil it. I was of the understanding that we are in the period of Gods grace now. God said He desires mercy not sacrifice. Look how the Pharisees hassled Jesus when He was healing on the Sabbath. When we stand in the judgement seat of Christ will He ask us did we keep the Sabbath and if not, what, off to hell? The commandments from Jesus was to love the Lord God with all your heart and love your neighbour as yourself.

It's amazing how sincere Bible teachers and believers can be willfully blind to what is perfectly clear in Scripture. They repeat tradition over commandments just as the Jews did in the time of Christ. (See Mark 7:7-13). Question. Do you truly believe that Jesus is God? Then worship and honor Him as your Creator by keeping holy the seventh day (Saturday) as He has commanded you to. There is no other practice given by Jesus that distinguishes Him as the true God and worthy of worship then the seventh day Sabbath which honors Him as the Creator of all.

Please don’t be disillusioned by this pastor’s stance on which day is the Sabbath. As Christians we are not all going to agree about all things all the time. I also don’t agree with his views on Sunday worship, however, I believe that his heart is in the right place, and he truly loves Jesus. I enjoy his preaching but so far this is the only thing he has said that I disagree on. I also don’t believe that a person is going to hell for keeping the Sabbath, or keeping Sunday as the Sabbath. As long as we repent of our sins and are baptized, the Holy Spirit will work in our hearts to direct us in the way God wants us to worship and what day you feel in your heart is the correct day to worship Him on. I hope this helps and may God bless you.

Truthfully, we do not even know on our pagan calendar which day is the seventh day. I observe a Sabbath from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset. You will find many Christian’s who believe it’s actually Wednesday to Thursday. Antichrist spirit is said to change times and laws. The Sabbath is a perfect example of this change. And as Pastor stated, Jesus did say man was made for the sabbath not the sabbath for man. We are commanded to rest every seven days be it Old Testament or New Testament times. Love God and love your neighbor fulfills all the commandments. Be blessed. Maranatha

@@kbmonday82 With all due respect, to say that Christians must keep the Torah is to say that Jesus never had a church for the majority of history. Christianity has never kept the Torah, nor is there a single verse in the New Testament requiring Torah observance for gentiles. How can God have put Torah observance into the hearts and minds of Christians, when the Torah was never observed by Christians? "Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Is any called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised. Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God. Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called." 1 Corinthians 7:18 Obviously these commandments of God cannot refer to the Torah, because he literally told people NOT to keep the Torah (not get circumcised) if they weren't doing so already. Do you remember where the Bible says that in Christ there is neither Jew nor Gentile? If we were supposed to keep the Torah, He would call us ALL Jews. "But when Peter came to Antioch, I had to oppose him to his face, for what he did was very wrong. When he first arrived, he ate with the Gentile believers, who were not circumcised. But afterward, when some friends of James came, Peter wouldn’t eat with the Gentiles anymore. He was afraid of criticism from these people who insisted on the necessity of circumcision. As a result, other Jewish believers followed Peter’s hypocrisy, and even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy. When I saw that they were not following the truth of the gospel message, I said to Peter in front of all the others, “SINCE YOU, A JEW BY BIRTH, HAVE DISCARDED THE JEWISH LAWS AND ARE LIVING LIKE A GENTILE, WHY ARE YOU NOW TRYING TO MAKE THESE GENTILES FOLLOW THE JEWISH TRADITIONS? “You and I are Jews by birth, not ‘sinners’ like the Gentiles. Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law.” Galatians 2:11

In Ezekiel, God equates the rejection of His Sabbaths with idolatry(and it's easy to see why, because a person is placing their own will in God's place), and Gal. 5 says that idolaters will NOT be in the Kingdom of God. It makes no sense to believe that ppl who reject God should be in His Kingdom when they won't let Him rule them now.

Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. 21 Not every one that saith unto Me, LORD, LORD, shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he that DOETH the will of My Father which is in Heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, LORD, LORD, have we not prophesied in Thy name? and in Thy name have cast out devils? and in Thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from Me, ye that work iniquity. 24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of Mine, and DOETH them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. 28 And it came to pass, when JESUS had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at His doctrine: 29 For He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

There is no demand to work 6 days. The only requirement is to sanctify the seventh and it isn't necessarily to do no work. It is only to not let it be another ordinary day where you focus on personal gain. A day you set apart to serve God and others and study His Word. Jewish oral Torah added a lot of restrictions that aren't found in the written Torah. Most of the church, myself included, speak out of ignorance on the matter. After serving Christ for 30 years I just recently began to question why we only honor 9 commandments. It made no sense to me. Come to find out He gave us 10 for a reason. Israel also ate Mannah on Saturday that was picked up on Friday. That is why Yeshua and his Disciples ate in the fields.Still in adherence to Gods Law. Moses law cannot be on the same level as The Ten Commandment , so the food we eat is not part of the commandment . Secondly the Catholic church still boasts about the seal of the commandmends. In their own words they are the authority of all churches because they change the seventh day to the 1St day. I rather listen to Yeshua the gratest law is love the Father with you whole heart and soul and, neighbour as yourself . That is the authority on which all the Laws and love for God hangs. Did he bring anything else in or changes like Catholics and Paul. Please give more authority to the seal of God and the seal of the beast. God bless you. Ezekiel 20:8-13 (KJV) 8 But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt. 9 But I wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt. 10 Wherefore I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness. 11 And I gave them my statutes, and shewed them my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them. 12 Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them. 13 But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they despised my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly polluted: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them.

Not cool how you mixed all those Mosaic laws and endless rules and traditions in there with distractions and disrespect of the command to "Remember"/ therefore keep. And are we not grafted in/Jew by circumcision of the heart? Law of Moses and 10 Commandments of God are not the same thing. Yahweh (God) established that Sabbath Command in Genesis thousands of years before Israel was a even nation. And you completely skirted the Catholic Church "changing the Sabbath observation to Sunday as a mark of their authority". Quote. I edit to add that you should know good and well that sheet Peter said he saw full of unclean animals had nothing to do with food. Peter said it was about Gentiles receiving the gospel. Seminary teachings and 501c3 "churches" are the death of the Bride of Christ. You're like paid opposition to the Truth of the Word of God.

all true followers of Jesus Christ DO keep the weekly 7th Day Sabbath and have done so since Pentecost 31 AD when God the Father poured out His Spirit on the 120 disciples of Jesus Christ. All other "so called christians" follow Rome and it's pope.

Wow, “the Law was a mess”. I hope you’re talking about the rabbinic law and not the Law God’s finger wrote on the stone. In Genesis chapters 2, “God blessed the seventh day and separated it as holy”, before there was a “Mosaic Law”. I believe people worship on Sunday, celebrate Easter and the Christmass because of Constantine. Why can’t we believe what the Bible says and not what a man says? You’re a gifted teacher that I follow closely but I just have to discard some of the things that come from the Constantinian church doctrine. I would be afraid of Matt. 5:19

Isaiah 66: foretells when Christ returns to earth as KING of Kings the entire world will worship God on HIS SABBATH, the 7th day. 22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. 23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, ----- and from one SABBATH to another, --- shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD. 24 And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh. Jesus rested on the 7th Day of creation week thus making it HOLY TIME. Christ is LORD of the Sabbath NOT the day of the sun god -sunday. Jesus made the 7th day HOLY.

If you are seeking eternal life --- do not follow this man, he does not even know what commandment number the Sabbath is, he says the 5th. 1And God spake all these words, saying, 2I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. #1 --3Thou shalt have no other gods before me. #2- 4Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: 5Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. #3- 7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. #4- 8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. #5-- 12Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. #6-- 13Thou shalt not kill. #7-- 14Thou shalt not commit adultery. #8- 15Thou shalt not steal. #9-- 16Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. #10 -- 17Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's. the first 4 reveal how to love God and the last 6 reveal how to love your neighbour AND Christ is LORD of the Sabbath NOT the first day of the week.

Why did the discussion go off into 7th month, 49th year, etc.??? There are but 10 commandments. They were written in stone. Keep the Sabbath holy is one of them. Observe 7th month, 49th year, passover, etc. are NOT part of the 10 commandments. Commandments are not suggestions. The big 10 were written in stone for a purpose, they are the main ones that G_d expects us to pay attention to.
