i feel like waluigi was intended at some point based on the purple rabbit in the instruction book i feel like the glowing white rabbits were originally purple, and maybe you had to chase them all down as wario for an added challenge, to get the waluigi key (wario because it'd keep up the theme of each new character unlocking the next)

@@SteelTiamat We have already seen that they can make a movelist for anyone. Some of the characters included in past games didn’t do any fighting in their own games. I don’t want to see Waluigi in Smash (I don’t think he’s that great a character, or even a good character since almost nothing is done with him) but I agree that the argument that there isn’t enough to make a move set for him doesn’t work when have had characters with less to go on than him.

Being honest, Waluigi was always my favourite as a kid, before all the memes.

@@mr.dedede1324 Thats the problem. How to you balance a character, who's trait is cheating?? Thats why being an assist trophy is more fitting for him, so that he can cheat to win. It reminds me of Dark Samus when she was an assist trophy, she felt like she did in Prime 3. When she become playable, she was reduced to a Samus clone for balance reasons.

I don't really care if Waluigi joins smash or not but seeing you guys being so passionate about it makes me want to sheer for your dream to come true! Never loose faith Waluigi fans

I do agree that he is uderrated, but it's not quite Sakurai or Smash's business. Smash is about franchise crossover, not about specific characters.

Seriously them not only showing Waluigi as the first assist trophy, but also using him as an example to show assist trophies can KOed was just super dirty

The thing that got me to like waluigi was the whole theory of him being in Mario 64 DS and he looked pretty cool to me. I even had a dream where I could play as him in Mario 64

@@DamnDj The Problem is that Sakurai is done making up movesets for characters that have little material to work with like Captain Falcon and Sheik. The second problem is that Nintendo themselves refuse to give waluigi his own game, because they don't take him seriously like Wario.

as a german whos favorite videogame character of all time IS Waluigi, im still saddened. The fact he became a meme gave me hope , but alas i remained disappointed. He will have his chance one day. maybe not in the game, but he will get the recognition he deserves. hell, tingle from LoZ got a couple of games becasue he was liked in Japan, but nowhere else

Little Mac became a character in the next game, not in the current one. It's a bad comparison. Same with Isabelle and Dark Samus. If Waluigi was already an Assist is Ultimate, there is little reason to think the devs are going to change their minds and make him playable on the same installment

When Sora was announced as the last new character in Smash, many people were upset that it wasn't Waluigi. I can't help but genuinely ask them.....why? Since the very beginning, Waluigi was an obligation. He merely exists purely because Mario has Luigi, hence Wario "needed" a Brother. A mere extension that didn't really improve anything and thus, became a personification of filler and then a joke. I can already see the contributions Sora potentially could bring to Nintendo and Square-Enix (and Disney). What has Waluigi EVER contributed to the Franchises as a whole? The main thing that annoys me about all this is, "fans" aren't seeing the bigger picture past their own Jones for the Jokes. Until Nintendo decides to give him more purpose and give him his own game, these people would do better to stop throwing their toys out their pram, before they hurt fan reception as a whole.

It's simply more that Waluigi himelf isn't the top of Mario franchise when it comes to priority, and Nintendo can just legally go with more unused franchises instead of the middle-tier characters from an old franchise. I know Waluigi has big potential, but what people need to ask to NIntendo is giving Waluigi more spotlights and precense in games, so that people can agree that he is equivalent with Mario, Peach and Bowser and he is his own character.

Fun fact: Did you know that the rule of assist trophies not becoming a fighter was broken in smash 4? Yep, apparently little mac was an assist trophy back in either melee or brawl. (Idk, I can't remember.) Whenever he was revealed as an assist trophy, he was then revealed as a full-fledged fighter in smash for 3ds and Wii u.

My only gripe with that point though is the fact that they’ve said future smash games won’t be this big again. So if he is in a future game, he’ll be in a game that people won’t see as nearly as great as smash ultimate. It would just be better to have him in this one

Maybe because Waluigi trolls harassed Sakurai and the Smash team over including him. Man got death threats over this, and frankly while I like Waluigi he isn't worth that.

You know, Little Mac's first appearance in smash was as an assist trophy. And ever since smash 4 he has been a playable character. Im just trying to say its not impossible.

While I wholeheartedly disagree with the Waluigi fans calling Sakurai names and threatening him for not including Waluigi, I am disappointed with him for not including my purple boy in the game. Sadly it is people liking Waluigi "for the memes" that gives us honest Waluigi fans a bad name. Pity he did not make it into Ultimate, but one day he will rise, one day we who genuniely love him and want to see him get more attention without calling people names, will see him in an official game.

I always ask myself. What if Waluigi was actually going to join in plants spot and the plant was going to be in waluigis spot but he changed his mind after getting threaten.

Most undertale fans are pretty happy with that. Atleast you can play as the mii costume. And the Sans one looks good and came with music.

I mean I just wanted Waluigi in cos I rlly liked his personality
