interesting points ,if anyone else wants to uncover cat communication articles try Alivaay Fluff Talker (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my brother in law got great success with it.

Watching this tips even though i dont have one 😂.love meows.

My cat used to sit outside my door and would scratch it, when i wake up and she sees me opening the door, she would lead me downstairs and meow the entire way while looking back at me and lead me to the kitchen to feed her

Thank You so much. I never fail to be amazed at the huge amount of patience my kitty can display when stalking a insect or toy but with anything she wants from me, she has about a 5 second tolerance and meows the equivalent of screaming “Do it meow!!!” lol

Exactly. Cats are patient animals and they try to maximize their patience they sleep a lot to preserve energy while on the hunt.

Yeah, I like it much better than "owner." Owner implies that the animal is mere property like a book, but guardian implies an emotional parent-child bond.

@Ken D cats do pick their owners! Both my cats are rescues and I am sure they picked me as much as I picked them. I couldn't imagine life without either one of them. They are my babies.

I like how people say "we don't deserve dogs" when we actually don't deserve Cats.

I have two cats, one of 14 years old, another (profile pic) is 10 months. They get on so well, I found the first in a cardboard box, the kitten was saved from a terrible home. They come for walks with me, the older one seems like she is teaching him, he trusts her, she trusts me so he is learning to trust me too. The older one meows in a particular way when I come home, while Titch makes a sort of brrp sound when he jumps through the window to say hello! They are amazing.

Cats are such superb company. I do not know what humans would be with out them.

One of my cats will sit in another room and make short, loud, repetitive meows until I walk into the room and ask him what's up or call him to me. As soon as he sees me he'll give a higher pitched, longer meow and happily trot up to me, usually with a toy in his mouth, though he is always equally happy to receive head-pets instead. It is simultaneously very cute and very annoying

When my cat wants my attention immediately she will jump on my lap put her to pause on my chest and meow in my face LOL sometimes it's followed by a head but

Nine times out of ten, it means "hooman, where's the food,?". :)

I often have conversations in cat language with my kitty. Most of my life has been spent with cats, and I've learned to speak 'cat' quite fluently LOL. She has lots of different miaows, and when accompanied by body language - her tail movements are very expressive - I almost always know what she means. Most of the time we're great friends, but she can drive me crazy with incessant, demanding miaowing when she wants something - usually when she wants to go out or wants food outside of meal times . However, she's a temperamental kitty and sometimes attacks me, teeth and claws bared, for no apparent reason that I can see. She gets this crazy look in her eyes when an attack is imminent. I still totally love her, she's my BFF. I always 'speak cat' when I meet a cat; if they answer, it usually means we have a connection.

My cat is Super VOCAL. Different meows are for different things.

Cats meow for many reasons. fo example to say hello, to ask for things, and to tell us when something's wrong.

Cat are mysterious. But I love It.

I've had my Katy for almost 16 months, and in that time she has meowed maybe a dozen times. She is almost silent as she rarely purrs, and has chittered only 3 or 4 times when I'm around, which is most of the time as I'm retired. Katy had been abandoned and came to me starving and traumatised. I suspect physical abuse. I think that this is why she is almost silent, she did not have positive responses to any sounds, so has not learned to use sound to communicate. If she made a sound, she was, I'm certain, hit or kicked. I'm glad to say that after a lot of hard work, Katy is now a fairly well adjusted cat - yes I know, in a cat, well adjusted means totally bonkers!

I call my fat kitty spider nose. The nose and whiskers kinda looks like a spider. Lol... spider nose.

My cat: Scream meows at me as she moves to the kitchen Translation: IM HUNGRY COME FEED ME DAMMIT My cat also loves to talk with me, so I reply in kind.

Our previous cat Milkshake was very vocal, he usually purred while mewing to draw our attention whether to play with him, let him out or feed. My Babycakes right now doesn't mew as much, but she has this annoyed tone like saying "Daaaad stop bothering me!" The tone is rather recent so I believe she's entering the teen rebellious phase, as a kitten she was all about hugs and cuddles, now... She is too cool for that hehehe

My cats got two things that is unique about her I’ve never seen other cats do. 1. She meows when she’s ready for me to go to bed around 8 o’clock p.m. even if I’m not ready yet most the time I just go upstairs and lay in bed and watch KZread videos until I fall asleep. 2. In the morning she awakes me up at 7 o’clock in the morning like she’s my alarm clock and I sit on my bed until I’m awake enough to go down stairs. I don’t know if that’s her routine for me or for her. Or for the both of us. I just know at night she’s demanding for bedtime and in the morning she’s demanding for time to grace the world with her presence.

My little 5 month old boy Mouse meows at me whenever I ask him "what do you want?" and when I fix a plate of food for myself he also meows at me stares at me and gives me that puppy dog eyes look. He's also a sweetheart.

My cat Dennis has a tattletale meow and I love it. Me and him have a wake up and going to bed routine. It's morning cuddles, then he'll want to start playing, so we go downstairs and I put a kettle on to make tea, and that's our pre-breakfast play time. At bedtime, I'm usually the first one in bed so Dennis curls up on my boyfriend's side of the bed until he comes to bed. I give dennis a couple treats and he goes to prowl around the house for bugs. But my boyfriend doesn't eat breakfast or drink tea or coffee, and every now and then he goes to bed before me. Dennis will find me and use his "tattletale" meow so I know that there was a break in the routine.

Cats don't meow at each other unless they're doing that loud meowing before a catfight. the feline usually reserve the meow for us humans. The meow is mostly aimed at us humans: "Hey human! I'm trying to get your attention! Are you listening to me?"

I think my cat is deaf, we resued him a few years ago. His meows are super loud, you can hear him from outisde the house...I think he wants to go out, but those days are over....He begins to purr as soon as I pick him up....

Not sure if you have a garden or a large balcony... or maybe even another part of the house on which to build something? But you could make him a catio. Either just a small caged space or even a very large "garden house" just for the cat. Some people make a door in it and bring their cat there. Others make the opening on a window f.e so that you can have that window open always or when he wants out and then he has a safe enclosed space. I'm going to be building a catio that'll be attached to the only window I can open downstairs - but which can't be safeguarded against escaping cats if you want fresh air... so it's a win win. It'll be over the entire length of my kitchen area (that was built later and extends 2 meters into the garden so I have like another kitchen sized piece of garden next to it counting from my window till the end... get it? I'll end it just before the kitchen ends and make a human size door there for me to get in and to carry stuff through like a cattree, food, myself :). It's a piece of garden I'll miss since it'll leave very little space for a table and chairs to sit if it's sunny, but this way he'll have his own garden, made with see through fence and wooden beams in the corner, plus a roof. He can get inside whenever and when mom thinks it's too cold in winter she closes the window and I can bring him outside via the door if he still wants in his catio. He's a Siberian so will probably love the minus xxx temps😂. It also means that other cats can't come into his domain. He's still very young (exactly 16 wks now) so I have 2 months left at least. I was at a busstop with him last Thursday and he absolutely hated it outside. I'm in a city nowadays and close to the freeway. It might be that he never wants to go outside... Anyway, if you've never heard of it check catio on Google or pinterest. Many examples for small balconies to mega gardens. I've even seen some sort of cage thing with something for him to climb that was fastened to a wall or a roof cause these people didn't have garden nor balcony. It's the best of both worlds: your wonderful cat is safe from getting lost, fast cars, cat haters and fighting cats (and thieves if he's purebred) and he still has his outdoors. Apparently even a small space outside will make all the difference to a cat used to the outside. And no neighbours to complain cause he won't meow anymore either :). Good luck! Good luck!

Is your cat all white with blue eyes, or at least one blue eye? If he is, there's a good chance he is deaf or partially deaf. It's a congenital condition. However, it certainly shouldn't affect their quality of life. We used to have a beautiful furry purry white cat when I was a kid; she was super affectionate and always burst into happy purring when anyone picked her up, cuddled or stroked her. She was much loved, and had a short, but happy life. One of my school friend's family had a deaf white cat too.

@@QueenKatz8 Buckles is black with circular brown stripes, he has green/brown eyes. We rescued him, he purrs all the time, especially when you pick him up. He meows very loudly, wish I knew what/why he meows all the time...Attention? He wants to be wherever we are, loves riding in the car, and purrs when we clip his nails.

Maybe his deafness was caused by illness or injury - rescued animals sometimes have issues from past experiences; if you haven't already done so, ask your vet to investigate. Incidentally, high five for rescuing him; it sounds like he really loves you, and when he miaows he's expressing himself and 'participating in conversations'. Purring when you clip his nails! Wow! I wouldn't dare try that with my cat; if I did I would, to quote a line from an old song "Bad Bad Leroy Brown", look like a jigsaw puzzle with a couple of pieces gone!

My question isn't about meows, although I hear a lot of them. I have 3 indoor cats. How often do you get your indoor cats shots. I use to take them yearly but was told I should take them every 2-3 years. What should I do?

I was at the vet yesterday and she told me. It depends if you live in an area where rabies might be an issue or you have dog/cat/multiple cat household sometimes other vaccines are necessary and those can't always be given at the same time (rabies is +1, Chlamydophilia +1 which is often given with multiple cats, but again more if they come outside), but if you have indoor cats, no possibility they'll get into contact with rabies on holiday or in the neighbourhood they just needs the common cocktail for panleukepenia and feline herpes. That's 2x in first year: 1st vaccin around 8-10 wks unless issues, after 4-6 wks his 2nd booster shot. Then at the beginning of their 1st bday again a vaccin and then yearly once. You only have to come more if he/ she needs those other vaccines. But again: indoor cats, no dogs... they are fine with the one cocktail. The vaccine for FelV is not trustworthy so they don't recommend it in my country. On top of that you have the treatments to prevents worms/fleas. That's 3 per year in the first year again and 1-2x after that. Some people go to their vet for that, but that's bs cause easy to do yourself. I'm in Europe, so perhaps you have different rules, but this is indeed recommended even for indoor cats. But Dutch people are always on the safe side with everything 😸. I know people who do it every 3 years because their cat never comes outside, doesn't eat insects or mice, only eats dry food AND doesn't have any other cats living inside so it's only their immune system and no potential hazardous sources. Or they don't want to or can't spend the money. I'm below average income, but going to do it yearly to be on the safe side. Mine is indoor (but I want to harness train him or teach him to be in a basket on a bike) and has a tendency to be extremely picky with his wet and dry food but eats literally everything else that's on the ground or flying😒. If I adopt a 2nd one it's better to checkup more often, so knowing I'mgetting a 2nd in a year or 2 I'm doing that already. (You could do a blood test every now and then to see if they need something extra). I hope that helped you.

I gave a cat that lives outside my house food and water yesterday today I gave her a bit of chicken and now she went crazy mewing and she started meowing agressivly idk if she wants me to pet her or give her more btw I'm scared of her scratch and biting cause she's not vaccinated or cleaned so it might get very infected if she did

I have 3 sisters n they're all different n I know when n what they want by meows by looks & if I say not to 1 of my girls she will not give up all to get into the boiler cupboard 😅

I dont know what the reason for my cat to meow he is a stray cat we met after 3 weeks and as we met he start to meow continuously and then drank water ahhahahahahaahah

hi everyone. do advise. i adopted my cat. i have only one boy. he moews at me when he doesn’t sees me. like im in the toilet or in a room. do you know why. when i woke up before i can open the door he is already meowing loudly. at first i would go straight to put some food. but i realised he is not eating. why does he meows at me when he don’t see me around.
