About 3 months ago, I started the "Elimination Diet". I slowly removed one thing per week from my usual diet: first it was sugar and carbs, then dark green vegetables, and so on. Things certainly got better for me, but the inability to control my emotions and the regular anxiety attacks persisted. 5 days ago (Independence Day, ironically), I had a random thought that perhaps the problem was garlic since I have eaten a ton of it every day, all my life, so I dropped it from my diet. Lo, and behold, the anxiety and mood instability disappeared after 24 hours. I'm writing this right now because I'm distracting myself from an anxiety attack; my son, who has a heart of solid gold, didn't know I had eliminated garlic from my diet, so he gave me *one, single honey-garlic meatball* about two hours ago. It's clearly the garlic causing the anxiety in me because I had a full tablespoon of raw honey this morning and was unaffected. So, I looked up "garlic and anxiety" here, and this video was the only one that matched my query. Thank you for this video - it proves I'm not crazy. I had no idea garlic could fool even the most talented physicians into believing I had mental disorders, or that I had been poisoning myself for decades with one, simple ingredient.

@@RLocksley this is amazing - I'm so glad you got to the bottom of what was causing your anxiety. I've been through the process before and it's such a relief when you figure out how to control it, naturally. I was also surprised when researching for the video, how little information there is re garlic and anxiety - I noticed the connection anecdotally to begin with, when my anxiety became heightened after garlic-heavy meals. That said, after taking a break from garlic, I slowly reintroduced it and it doesn't seem to have the same effect that it used to - perhaps having that break gives time for the gut biota to rebalance? Who knows. It is very interesting how closely-connected the gut and the brain are - I also found certain probiotics can cause imbalance and reintroduce anxiety. Definitely sounds like gut microbiota may be playing a big role in your anxiety, and I'm pleased you've been able to get to the bottom of it to limit your anxiety. Thanks for watching 😊

@@sciencenothype Oh! That gives hope! Maybe someday I can eat garlic again if my gut rebalances itself. I'll leave it for a year and then try a small amount of garlic next Independence Day. I'm pretty sure I've found the right probiotic for me, so that's not an issue, but I imagine it can be for some other people. Thanks again!
