Absolutely agree. After such a popular season, people's expectations can normally rise, but obviously Gotchard remains in the shadow of its predecessor because it was a tune down and back to basics season, otherwise I liked the season.

Honestly, I feel a little underwhelmed by the first episode for how it played out, but the henshin scenes, the villains being based on the Moirai/Three Fates, literally Hopper-1 (yes, he's so *adorable* ), me actually liking the Gotchardriver for it's simplicity and awesome standby, and potentially how we're set up with mysteries abound with Rina's dad now deceased right off the bat (feels almost like a Sokichi Narumi/Kamen Rider Skull in terms of setup), I'm sold enough to see a weirdly short-feeling start flesh out into something bigger now. As for the fly-cam shots, yeah, Geats did those a few times, I think maybe even Revice had one or two (I forget). Though the in-visor cams I kinda miss, since back in Ex-Aid, those were actually kinda neat for that immersive feel.

I think part of it is it's coming off of Geats which was rather large scale and complicated, so people feel underwhelmed. It also doesn't help that Saber had 13+ Riders with a very Rider centric story (due to COVID), Revice was also somewhat complicated with many Riders and plot threads, and Geats was a battle Royale with a ton of Riders and, again, rather complicated. Gotchard is more a "return to form" and simpler. It's, for now, about one single Rider and he "helps people". Imo, this is refreshing it its own way due to the aforementioned past 3 years of rather "different" seasons.

Gotchard reminds me more about Fourze, with its more laidback school setting. Geats is darker and more mature in tone, so it resonates better with those who grew up with Kamen Rider, like those in the first earlier half of the Heisei era

Geats is the first Rider season I've finished. I've been in Toku for years before then, but Geats was my first major jump into Rider. And while I think the show is overrated, it's premiere was unique and introduced everything in an easily digestible yet intriguing way. Gotchard's first ep is just alright for me on the other hand, mainly because of how the story sets up stuff and how much they shoved into it. It felt like stuff didn't flow as well as it could've for me. I know the show will end up being good though, it's just that the episode itself wasn't anything too crazy. Plus, Houtarou isn't that compelling of a protagonist if I'm being honest. Still, I want to continue because there was some interesting stuff, plus, I'd like to see more Rider in the future.

Honestly I like Kamen Rider Gotchard. Only difference is Gotchard (at least its beginning phase) is relatively lighter than Geats' darker and complicated story in both of season and character case. It's probably filler-esque relief season such as Super Sentai's Go Onger. But strangely, the audience began to ruthlessly criticize that season and approach it in a prejudiced way, even before the trailer was released which is I can't approve. Only three episodes are aired, it can't be the worst from just beginning, it's too early to declare such.

This, exactly this, literally judging a 50 episode series out of 3 episode is a bit ruthless and you wouldn't be getting a big enough cut of it to make a full review, atleast give 5 episodes a chance before throwing it out tbh. btw you should check out the 4th episode it's like, a huge upgrade from episode 1 ngl

My main gripe is that this is one of the rare instances where I think the main character was miscast. This actor isn't up-to-speed with what they're trying to portray him as. Gentaro's actor from Fourze is what I'm sensing they're kinda going for....and it's not working here. Especially in Episode 1.

I don't know why some people are bothered by the change in tone, I mean, Gaim also started out similar, it was like a weird mix of High School Musical and Pokemon, only to end up like FUCKING EVANGELION.

I thin Gotchard is swell, its not the best debut for a rider season, but its very back to basics and I like that. Its not trying anything new, Geats has innovated so much in Kamen Rider's formula that its hard to out-innovate it, so Gotchard feels like its more of a step back in terms of seasons. Its not bad however, i wouldn't say we've downgraded from Geats, just that we went back to basics. Gotchard also feels very, heisei and early neo heisei. Like the protagonist is simple, he's just happy to exist, as opposed to literal gods like Ace Sento and Kouta, or characters with like incredibly niche positions like Aruto being a high tech ai company CEO or Wataru being a decendant of a Fangire monarchy. He's Sougo, but he literally just stumbles upon his fate. But that works for a blank paper like him, anything is open game. His catchphrase is literally "gotcha" which means that you either captured something like a physical object or and idea (akin to eureka in a sense) or as a reply to something happening to you like "ohhh, gotcha" For Houtaro it works both ways. This isn't me trying to make Houtaro more intersting, but I'd argue his blank slate has a place in the season that just makes sense. Sometimes life just throws stuff at you without notice, and all you can really say is "yeah uhh, gotcha" a response. Houtaro's the same guy, just more optimistic. This show is still for kids after all, you gotta give them a good life lesson still. Gotchard's simplicity just works for me, idk if its the optimism the show presents itself with, like its just happy to exist and have fun, or the simple but important message its trying to tell through Houtaro as a blank slate. You don't need to be a fox god to be an interesting person, or have to cope with your fate like most other kamen riders. Sometimes you just need to go "gotcha, we ball" and you're set for life. So i can't hate this season despite being admittedly underwhelming compared to Geats

The problem is that we already had a good "Gotta Catch 'em All" card Rider story back in 2005. And nothing here in Gotchard is narratively interesting... It's only on episode 3, but none of the story or characters has made me want more from the story or characters.

Ok Alsace don't compare magic to alchemy because they aren't the same and the alchemy scenes with Rinna looks like she's using psychic powers. Like the villians use alchemy better because they are actually turning stuff into something else. But yeah that's people being people because I think you answered your own question people are still stuck on Geats.

Geats does has some episodes with the fly cam like eps 28 and eps 38, which are the debut of laser boost and mark 9. There still more but I don't remember the number of the episode. But the question is why the quality of the fly cam in this first episode of Gotchard so bad? Geats fly cam was good, it was almost no difference between the fly cam and the normal cam.

@saiyaujeff8171 1. Let's talk about Keiwa development. He was first introduced as a normal good guy, like a traditional main rider. But he was not that all good, Keiwa wanted everyone to stop fighting for their happiness and protect people from the Jyamato. But then, he realized that everyone was contributing to world peace by putting their life at risk, that's why receiving a reward for that is something the riders deserve. He slowly becomes stronger and more mature in his thinking. There's a small period of time in the series he just their, and don't got much screen time, but it's still fine because his interaction with others characters is enjoyable. Then come his bujin sword arc, Kewia lost his sister, his only family member. He started to lose his way. Came in to thinking that because he was weak, he couldn't protect his sister, then after some advice of Kekera, he made Tsumuri to give him a new power. After that, he kidnapped Tsumuri to turn her into a goddess and remade a new world to revive his sister. This is the explanation for people who don't understand why Keiwa didn't ask Tsumuri to revive his sister instead . But he messed up the new world and got his sister killed again. After the fight with Ace, the conversation with him made Keiwa realized that everyone was trying their best to revive his sister, and he messed up that. He then apologized to Buffa, and Buffa himself apologized to Keiwa's sister, not like they just shut their mouth about what Keiwa did, and like Ace said that we may hate people's sins, but we must not come to hate people themselves, that's the way to make a world where everyone can be happy. Keiwa then tried to make up for what he did and once again contributed to world peace with everyone. Now, let's talk about the characters in the show, the thing that makes the show so good for a lot of people is the the interaction between the characters. Their conversation make their relationship closer and they able to understand each other. Especially the interaction of the main cast with the supporter rider and the management open a lot of mystery and questions, shifting the story into another stage. For example, Ace after hearing about the heard Ziin said about the supporters are dimesional-hopping tourists, and Beroba said this world is an ancient world, Ace realized that the supporters are future people from another dimension. The characters' interaction is one of the keys that makes Geats one of the best of all time and the best of Reiwa so far. So, that are my opinions against your opinions about Geats, if you still don't like Geats, that's fine, it's not like I can force someone to like something. But if you don't like Geats and the Reiwa era, even FAIZ (I would like to see Zeo Agito reaction about this, since Faiz is his favorite show), then yea... I think you should not watch Kamen Rider anymore, or even tokusatsu in general. Yeah, I like Geats, the show is in my top 5 favorite series of all time, and first episode of Gotchard is ok, I'm looking forward for this year season

Bro tbh I lost interest in Rider after finishing build, and none of the other new ones that were out really interest me. I believe at the time saber was the new one that was out but I Love Gotchard I thought the first episode was so good

Revice and especially Geats used the bad looking camera all the time and I thought it was pretty noticable.

I know this show is aimed more at kids, but the problem is that... there is almost nothing interesting to latch onto narratively. I don't care about Hotaro wanting to befriend every Chemie. And Hotaro wanting to be a great alchemist makes no sense when the show hasn't had him learn about or do any alchemy. The other characters are very static right now and I have no expectations of them. The acting isn't that great either, so there's not even a solid performance to get me through the generic shounen story. I am determined to watch this all the way through since it'll be my first Rider series that I watched as it airs, but having just finished Den-O, and watching Zero One in my spare time, I gotta say, these first 3 episodes stink compared to either of the aforementioned series. I guess I'm just waiting on something in the plot to sell me on the show. Maybe some goals or drama with the other characters needs to be explored? Because Hotaro's "Gotta Catch 'Em All" as a personality just isn't doing it for me. Also, I haven't even watched Geats. I've just watched enough KR to know these episodes aren't hooking me.

It is actually that lame lol. It would be much better if Hotaro doesn't do the awkward hand dancing pose and go straight to the alchemy triangle pose. It is kinda funny when I unironically realized that Saber's long ass pause just to let the Wonder Books to finish their narration looks slightly better than what Hotaro does with his hands.

i think not because of the rider form maybe it theme and the mc is highschool boy, this is similar to fourze highschool combine with space, and zi o highschool combine with time and travel and now gotchard is highschool combine with card and alchemy

The concerning thing is that after the last few _years_ of Rider and Sentai, it looked like Toei had finally gotten the hang of making episode 1s that are both compelling and at least halfway coherent. This ep1 left me... just barely understanding anything going on, and wondering why I should care. -also imma just say it the villains are giving me Deadmans vibes that make me wary in a very specific way iykyk- The Pokemon cute as hell tho-I already want that big grasshopper toy. And I actually like the belt/henshin sequence-big Geed energy, and the suit just slaps real hard. I'm still interested, but nowhere near as interested as I _could_ be. Come on, Toei. Your premise is fine, your gimmick's fine, your MC's fine, your supporting cast is fine. Just _sell_ me on it 😂

What was wrong with the Deadmans? Is this a jab at Revice being bad? Because the Deadmans were only in like half of it. Unless you mean they were groomed or something like Aguilera. You all really hate Revice to an absurd degree, if that's the case. Because there's similar villain archetypes (or even archetypes in general) doesn't indicate quality in any way. I thought Keiwa was going to be as great as Kagami, but he wasn't, for example.

​@@korinorizthe deadmans were interesting but they felt like a letdown after their rather quick defeat halfway through, I'd much prefer if we get the deadmans all the way to the end and having them all defect one by one near the 30s, but it is what it is.

The aftermath after Geryon's death was almost the last straw for me to finally drop a Kamen Rider series for the first time. Show is so boring af after Gotchard Daybreak and Geryon's arc. The new forms they keep churning out are so forgettable. The side character feels like people with tree costume acting as a backdrop in a children's play. Legends feels like a afterthought and if its not, its just as bad and it deprives the time to develop other side character in the show. There's around 8-10 ep more and I can't wait for the series to be over, and I'm not about to let it ruin my never-missing-a-single-season streak.

Why they.hate Gorchard. 1. Another highschool kid. 2. Gotchard = Pokemon storyline. He must retrieve the 100 chemies that have been released throughout d series.

Dude reminds me of Gentarou from Fourze. I loved that dude, so I don’t think this guy is so bad.

Zero-One was Depressing Meanwhile Geats is easily the worst rider show that I watched all the way through it's boring as hell after the 1st arc + I honestly love Saber it has fun plot , music and characters next to Revice and Gotchard

This season feels "weird" for some reason. Its like Ghost, Build and Wizard fused into one and having Shunpei (From Wizard) as the protagonist. And i hope it just "feels" like Ghost and doesn't end being like Ghost, lol.

Agito , Hibiki , Ghost and Saber They all give a good message that I love. The only rider in Geats Series I actually liked was Michinaga aka Buffa. Most hated is Kuuga , Faiz , Den-o , Decade , Double , OOO , Fourze and Geats I find them incredibly boring , Uninteresting and skip to watch.

BOTH GHOST AND SABER WERE MASTERPIECE After Their 1st Half in My Opinion Faiz , Hibiki 2nd half , Decade vs Zi-o , OOO 10th and Geats are MUCH much worst than Saber + Ghost has more fans and Popularity than Hibiki , Kiva , Fourze and Wizard.

1: I kinda hate how the pokemon anime forever gave the misconception of they only saying their name(which isnt the case beacuse the games cant handle so many voices) 2:Fuuga is hot but generic and 97% his dad, 2% his uncle who took the photo 1: magic girl´s dad 3:dont even try to rationalize alchemy, is a wizard thing, is pure magic, whatever 4:disagree, child gets really old, to be honest I really hope she either dies or gets permanently stuck with a chemy and cant turn back for long chunks of the season. 5:Fuuga is hot, I mean , Main boy is so boring even his henshin is boring, I know this whole show will probably be he finding himself and becoming either a singer or a chef but my god the whipslap compare to mr perfect fox is staggering 6:yes I mean the driver is kinda boring which is why they tie it to the plot probably 7:Go pros dont have such poor quality 8: I like the grass hopper train thing but I feel like it should had finish as a grasshopper 9:episode 1 was fine, I feel like people just got caught up in the high concepts of Geats and forgot how formulaic semi aniversary seasons can be.

The Pokémon themed rider season is exactly why I don’t like the show. I could never get into Pokémon, and not even putting the Kamen Rider name on it can save the show for me. But, the secondary rider/anti-hero character, Spanner, is interesting.

I have just finished high school and am going to college. I am already sick of high school focused shows. I feel too old for this.

This new series is just for kids, just kids. I felt like after Geats there's no targeting for teenagers to adult audience. Bro i miss the old days like in the Heisei era. In this new series I personally don't like MC reason too goofy and side character too but the villain is okay. Suit just bad, driver itself boring, henshin pose is so weird and card IN MY OPINION boring. It's not my taste collecting a lot of cards. Still watching just to kill the time. Time to rewatch my favorite heisei Kamen Rider series. MY FAVORITE RIDER IS KUUGA. What's yours internet?

Geats was mid as fuck but everyone is so hung up on how “good” it was. Now Gotchard is going to be constantly compared to it. It’s hella annoying since this is only the first damn episode.

Maybe it is due to the fact that the previous Reiwa series have banger and more impactful opening acts? Even Saber and Revice's first episode were better than whatever Gotchard's first episode was trying to do. But hey, at least the Moirae sisters were dope.

he is bad as a character,, unless they meant it.. he is a 17 year old kid..who last a father but he's spoiled.. and not well written.. I think they are trying to make him less boring wby adding emotion but they went beyond the emotion turning him straightforward immature,, and watching the series.. so far and geraing towards the next arc,, his annoyance became even worst.. he needs to have a bujin sword heel turn asap...

i dislike it because i feel that there is nothing going on with gotchard, the theme is alchemy but then it is about catching pokemon?? if it is about alchemy, the show/rider name is gotchard?? but then the main character cannot do alchemy, everything about gotchard is a MISMATCH. the first episode shows an old man getting beat up by a bunch of girls we know nothing about, they expect us to care and be curious about them, plus with the traitor stuff just shoved up on our face when we know exactly he is going be a good guy this whole time.

Its a good show but its not my cup of tea. It was okay but a bit of underwhelming ep 1. FMC acts stiff I don't know if other noticed it too? I know she's a new actress but compares to Neon, man you could see the difference. MC I don't know to describe, he's a bit cringe.

I didn't watch Geats before this and I still didn't like the characters in this show very much. Maybe I just got spoiled by Fourze instead IDK.

I HATE GEATS + Geats is Hands Down The WORST Series Ever!! It's Terrible!! Geats is Dogshit of Reiwa like Inoue did with Faiz After Episode 28 !!! Geats Had A Great First Half and Had The Worst Fall in KR History and It's an Total Garbage Now Because it Was Fine Until it Aired Along with Hirogaru Sky Precure (The Worst Precure Series in The Franchise) + Geats is also Really Awful and Infamous as it Was a Dumpster Fire It Was Even Worse Next to Faiz's 2nd half None of the plots after Episode 24 made any sense. Keiwa is One Of The Most Unlikeable Bastards I've Ever Witnessed It's So Effective I Have No Choice But To Respect it like Kusaka + Damn Now I hate Keiwa more than Kyosuke from Hibiki ! (Love Michinaga , Kousei and Kyuun tho.)

Nope Ghost and Saber Were Pretty Great After Their 1st Half + Ghost much better than Hibiki 2nd half And Saber starts pretty not good but finds its way to become pretty ok show and has much better characters than Geats Personally I find both OOO 10th and Geats to be far worst > Boring + Overrated would be Faiz and Double I would say Geats is the worst mainly because it's the only time Takahashi's quarks as writer actually felt justified within the story + Ah yeah Tycoon being a total jerk and Keiwa is Trash Garbage to everyone was the other thing I remember vividly.

I was reminded of Kamen Rider Fourze immediately and it just felt way more immature and cartoonish. Geats wasn’t my favorite series either, I found it really dull and predictable towards the ending.

The acting is terrible. Love the rider concept, but seems like they’re valuing the looks more than acting (especially the main heroine).

Hopper one is the worst in the show, and steam liner is the best. At least starting off. Renking Robo is the best out of the 100 Chemies.
