Why Do We Learn Thermodynamics?

This is an introductory lesson on the subject of thermodynamics. I go over the interesting history of this science, the First Law, Second Law, and include some demonstrations. I think thermodynamics is a pretty well understood subject, but it can be a little abstract and tough to grasp initially. Most of my studying was done using a single textbook, so I won't be including resources other than that. I found plenty of good information on websites and forums that I used as well that you can find with simple internet searches.

Textbook that I used to study:
"Thermodynamics: An Engineering Approach" by Y. Cengel and M. Boles

(I used a Fifth Edition pdf version)

Bow drill fire starter:

Low temperature Stirling engine:

(Note that this is a low temperature model. You don't need and shouldn't use a blow torch to heat it or it will cook, I merely used one for better visual demonstration)

Its kinda beautiful in my opinion, but yea if you are just studying it for grades, I can imagine why it would be a nightmare for some

I found it certainly more difficult than statics and dynamics, but not as difficult as aerodynamics (navier stokes equations in particular)

Great job Wissam! I've taken Thermodynamics and Advanced Thermodynamics at my school, the University at Buffalo, and your introduction to this topic was perfect. I found these classes to be challenging, but very interesting and worthwhile. Would love a continuation on this topic, as well as Heat Transfer! Great to see you back!

@@WissamSeif matter is an illusion of the eyes. Atoms ate 99.9% empty space. So there is no matter. Only energy. Frequency and vibration. And since space is a working system that exists as a fabric youd still expect it to get hot as thermodynamics states.
