Why do North Indians Look Different from South Indians? The Genetics of South Asia

Комедия

Today, we're going to answer the questions of why North and South Indians have such vastly varying features, and look at the genetic history of South Asia as a whole.
I'm not trying to offend anyone with my tangent on skin color discrimination in Bollywood and Indian society, merely stating a fact that Bollywood actors are of a much lighter complexion than the average Indian so it's not fair to judge what the average Indian looks like by looking at South Indian celebrities.
Indians with light skin are not any less "Indian-looking" than Indians with dark skin. Don't post racist comments in my comment section. Thanks.
Let me know your thoughts on India and Indians in the comments below.
Thanks for watching!

Masaman not all Indians are bad. There are good and bad in all races and people. I guess the media is very good at showing the worst of any country culture traditions etc of non white peoples. But sometimes people of colour don't help the situation by upholding the racist stereotypes placed upon them by acting out evils upon one another.

Here's an interesting story for you. I'm from Kerala and I did my Engineering in Tumkur, Karnataka. There was a store owner right in front of a popular college in the city and he used proudly announce to every Malayali student that there is this dam in Idukki built by the Kannadigas!! But the dam was built with aids from the Govt of Canada and technical inputs from a Canadian private company. Even after showing him this on Wikipedia, he did not believe that it was Canada and not Kannadiga! This came to my mind all of a sudden when I saw Kannada and Canada in the same line :P

Cuisine changes a lot, but basic Hindi and English is spoken everywhere. India was one of the first civilizations to "urbanise" and even at the time of Buddha, India was very urbanized. India invented Zero and many other advanced mathematical ideas. It was NOT the Islamic people. They got it from the Indians through trade routes.

From Lonavala just south of Bombay, to Badami, and Hampi in Karnataka. There is also anextremely ancient Holy cave, on the road between Chaggi Bank station in the Punjab, to Hmachal Pradesh. It's seen as mostlly a very early Buddhist cave, but a Hindu Sadhu has been living in it for a long time, and showing it to tourists. It's a nog semi-luxury cave with the river running by with clean water direct from the Himalayas. There really was a sense of an India, and Indian identity, right from ancient times. Just look at Nalanda.

But still the people love each other irrespective of the differences and live in harmony. I believe beauty is only skin deep.

Some part of it may extend in the Central India but it's a northern state. UP'S ancient name was United Province of NorthWest and Oudh & some even referred to as Northern Territory or Northern Province. Land of the answers is totally wrong and outright ridiculous and don't ever say this to anyone otherwise you'd be considered delusional. However I also consider Rajasthan to be the part of North not West. For most people West - Gujarat Maharashtra Goa. Yes, pal. I'm with you. I can't fathom the state-wise divide that we Indians keep building and deepening within us. I've witnessed this in so many Indian communities in other countries as well. Why do we Indian people feel the need to proclaim our region-based superiority through denigrating and belittling others? India is diverse, as are its peoples and cultures. If south India can stake claim to gentler, simpler and more grounded people, northern and western Indians can rationalize our more direct and aggressive traits due to the centuries of wars and invasions that were inflicted on us by foreign invaders. Please remember that North and Western India is where most of the invaders came from for centuries into India and we were the ones who were looted, pillaged, killed, slaughtered, and often subjugated by these rulers for hundreds of years (e.g. the Delhi Sultanate, the Mughal Emperors). Just look at the warrior histories of Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Punjab and see how these peoples, and I count myself among them, have had to develop aggressive resilience to survive with our culture, religion and heritage intact over these centuries of attack. (BTW I am a proud Sikh women who was raised in Uttarakhand and now lives in USA). If we Indians are to truly realize and live with the idea of an undivided India which welcomes and embraces all of its diversity, we cannot have whole regions of the country vilified as I have seen in this comment section and, alas, all too often in millions of other forums. Can we not just talk about what is great about the regions we come from without feeling the need to also vilify other Indian regions as well as Indians we feel are different from us? Tearing each other down will get us nowhere. Peace and wellbeing to all.

Thinking of Dharmasastra as a legal code and of its authors as lawgivers is thus a serious misunderstanding of its history". from this : www.cambridge.org/core/books/spirit-of-hindu-law/E738FB6987860874ECB74BC155D283BA the caste system is a huge problem in India but its obv that the British are at fault for starting and ingraining discrimination between castes, and the politicians are at fault for continuing that discrimination

Also, if you go from one state to another in India, a large percentage of people won't be able to understand you well at all if you spoke in Hindi or English (common languages)..Christians make up 80% of US, with people putting "no religion" constituting 16% (but of this a large percentage 95% were born into Christian families, hence have a very good understanding of the basics of Christianity and its culture)

Interesting. I realize Masaman has to be careful about the subject of his channel, because of the ethnic sensitivities in many parts of the world. But he is correct, the religious element is far more touchy than skin tone. Here in the US, we have become pretty used to diversification of society including many cultures, but still have some religious intolerance.

Kya Lucero there are 2 ways. North Indians have an inferiority complex about not being civilised while South Indians mostly envy North Indians' physical beauty and/or anatomy There could be many more but it boils down to these 2 basic issues

Uncle Podger Oh come on ignoramus! At least to make the lie believable you should have atleast said punjabi or kashmiri. I think you thought that more R1A=whiter. Now you have made a fool of yourself.Bengalis are much darker and have slightly mongoloid features too!😂😂😂

aditya nawani There's nothing that's 100% certain in biology. That can happen in stereotyping, but not in biology. And as Masaman said, race ≠ ethnicity. The people I was referring to most probably have European ancestors, and that's why they look strikingly European. I know how a Punjabi or Kashmiri looks like, mate. Maybe you should stop trolling people on the internet and instead focus on getting a job to earn so that you spend less time goofing around and actually live up your name. Oh wait, you _do_ live up to your name - by bringing down people with false accusations and lies!🌚
