    +Ciaran Brickles My fat ginger cat "Sheldon" also sees the door as some kind of ominous enigma. He sits in front of it and stares at it for ages, it's hilarious. While we're grappling with quantum theory and the origin of the universe, cats are working hard on the mystery wrapped in a riddle, which is "the door".

    This truly made me smile. I once came into contact with a wild and homeless cat. After feeding her and giving her blankets and lots of love, she grew to trust and love me. Her favorite activity was snuggling up on my lap and kneading me. We eventually had to send her to a shelter because winter was growing near. This left a huge hole in my heart. I do wonder where and how she is today :( Thank you for reminding me of her love and trust for me 😽

Plus, if you have absolutely no understanding of electricity, it's even weirder. Most of us, due to the fact we frequent these channels, have a broader understanding of the world around us. Not all of us, however. We should initiate the un-knowing with teaching! I can't believe how corny that all sounded.

    My cat doesn't knead very often at all, but you can tell just by looking at her that she's going to knead the hell out of you. Her tail shoots straight up, it fluffs out to fox-like proportions and she actually purrs (something she very rarely does). It's cute, but painful. Not because of claws, but because of big muscles and dainty feet.

    Most domestic animals have some neoteny going on, both behavioral and physical. It seems to be closely linked to domestication. (see the Russian fox experiment). And human are arguably neotenic. We may have basically self-domesticated.

  • @Stoned_Pony

    @Stoned_Pony

    10 жыл бұрын

    That's what I kept thinking about the whole time- the Russian fox experiment. I saw it on a documentary called Dogs Decoded. Really good documentary. Never thought about us humans having self domesticated, but it almost makes sense. Doesn't really fit the technical definition of domestication (selective breeding to benefit humans), but in sense that domesticated species tend to lose their aggressive survival traits in exchange for more fun juvenile traits, I'd say we fit the bill.

    Good question, maybe symmetry?

  • @IceMetalPunk

    @IceMetalPunk

    10 жыл бұрын

    I can think of a few possible explanations. Firstly, much of our bodies are symmetric, something we owe to homeobox genes. This allows a few nice traits: binary vision, somewhat directional hearing, and multiple balanced limbs to name a few. Maybe lungs just got pulled along for the symmetry ride. Or perhaps they evolved because it's possible to live with only one lung, so having two allows more resilience to lung damage and disease. Those are just my two hypotheses; you might be able to find more info about it on Google, if such studies have been done.

  • @ThallanarRabidtooth

    @ThallanarRabidtooth

    10 жыл бұрын

    Because Schrödinger's Cat. If you don't know about Schrödinger's Cat, it's about an experiment where a German scientist wanted to experiment what would happen if he put a cat inside a box with a poison trap inside it. He placed the cat in the box for 24 hours and before checking it, he theorized that the cat is both dead and alive, this proves evidence of multiple parallel universes, because in one universe, the cat would be alive, and in another universe, the cat would be dead.

  • @MortenSjgren

  • @MrFisher150421

    @MrFisher150421

    The answer is in the question: your cat is a 'feral' cat, not a 'wild' cat. Feral cats are domesticated cats that found their way back into the wild, meaning that they contain many of the domesticated traits, kneading being a prime example; that they then take to the wild with them. Had the cat been completely wild, it would have been unlikely that he would have befriended you in the first place.

    ***** Isn't that the human misconception that the more events you have the more probable a particular outcome is... in reality the probality is the same each event. A video exploring the theories of self-domestication would be interesting, I think. Self-domestication being the theory that the natural evolutionary process for certain species selects for traits that are associated with domestic phenotypes, similar to those selected for by humans in breeding domestic animals. It's related to the theory that domestication is a prolongation of juvenile traits, which I was reminded of in this video.

    You're a riot! Very entertaining. However, you didn't mention the solitary kneading. I have (and had) 3 cats which do this consistently. Especially when they encounter a soft sofa throe blanket. The kneading is concentrated (cat doesn't want interruption), the back arches and after a while some bucking which seems orgasmic. You may want to check this out, as I've seen it many times over the course of 15 years :~) Your stuff is great. Thanks.
