Why Do Bad Things Happen to Good People?

We often make the assumption that good people should have easier lives than others, yet that doesn't always appear to be the case and we may find ourselves then asking, why do bad things happen to good people?
The truth is that they who are nearest and dearest to God, and who are destined to at some level awaken to Truth and to transcend are often more challenged in their circumstances than others.
The difference is that with proper spiritual growth, development and training, a human being progressively develops the capacity to carry greater burdens, and can in face be happier and more at peace even in more challenging circumstances.

Like you said, one find challenges according to ones rank. I faced many challenges but when I think about Iraq, Syria, Somalia, Yemen, Afghanistan, Rohingas and all the countries where our brothers and sisters are hurting my calamities are nothing.

Thank you for this Brother Ihsan, it is so comforting and empowering to hear what you say in this video regarding trails and tribulations. You learn to see it from a different perspective; your trails as a blessing- depending on how you manage yourself. Thank you for the efforts you put into your videos for your followers. We benefit from them greatly, and often in comments it's mentioned how we (your viewers) watch the videos multiple times, each time more enlightened than the last. May Allah give you the ability and means to share more with us, ameen.

Good question, Ash. At a deeper level, the soul that is seeking God is seeking transcendence and awakening beyond illusion. Hence, subconsciously, such individuals attract challenging circumstances so as to transcend them and thus make faith and belief real. I hope that helps. Blessed regards, brother.

Ihsan Alexander You may call them tests, but they are actually the things in your consciousness that require healing. Is this true? Also I think in this video it’s about tests which overrides law of attraction same as gods grace which overrides the laws of the universe- what do you think?

Ihsan Alexander, Could you please, do somehow an A&Q? I have so many questions that nobody is able to answer and it makes me lose my faith.. I don't want to! At least, providing an e-mail where I can send my doubts. Thank you in advance

Salaam sister Fatima, thank you for the suggestion. It is something that has been suggested and insha'llah will be able to do some form of public live session on occasion. In the meantime, please stay connected and take advantage of a free multimedia mini-course I created to help you rediscover the deeper spiritual dimension of the faith, www.spiritualexcellence.com/welcome. Hi Ihsan. You mention that Allah is testing us on our spiritual growth etc. Why does he test? He knew the final result before he created, right? Yet he created? Also I know some people claim that there is nothing but Allah... If that's true, why do we speak as though Allah is seperate from us? Presuming that we and Allah are one

  • @spiritualexcellence

Salaams, greetings and peace. The purpose of a "test" is not so much to see if one knows a thing, but rather to advance, to progress, to evolve. Regarding your second question, the conventions of language simply cannot convey Truth and Reality, hence they who "know" are often silent. Truth is beyond the capacity of the mind, and must be experienced by the heart. Spiritual growth and evolution is about shifting from mind and ego-based consciousness to heart and soul-based consciousness. Please consider joining us in the Islamic Meditation Program (www.islamicmeditation.com), which covers these topics and much more in far greater detail. To your divine and eternal success.

It's because of your videos that I've changed my mind on Islam. The Sufi was of life makes more sense than any other school of thought. Peace and blessings be with you!

Also see surah al-Mulk verse 2, "Allathee khalaqa al-mawt wa al-hayaah, li yabaluwakum ayyukum ahsanuh 3amalah" "[He(Allah)] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed - and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving - Als Umar, try to follow the actual Mutassawufoon. The actual tabi3oon, and not the modern day Imams that try to fool people, with their "so called" sufism. Try to look up Hamza Yusuf's view on sufism. He primarily follows the Maliki adhab, but he is also a sufi, and a great scholar. It would be interesting to hear what he has to say. A new door of understanding will open up.

Blessed salaams, yes, correct, Allah Almighty affirms in the Qur'an that Jesus (as) was saved from such a horrible fate. You will notice I did not say that he (as) *was* crucified, but rather that they were seeking to do so. May Allah Almighty protect us from darkness, evil and unconsciousness.
