little trick: the bucket mounted on the back of the moped can be attached anywhere on all cars and things inside it are "physicless", so they wont fly around in a crash or cause glitchy problems.

The only problem that I have seen, is that sometimes on a reload, the items will fall through before the modifier can be reapplied.

@@cockatieltime2259 Glove Box is where you should store Siphon to keep it safe yes. Truck racks are fantastic for locking stuff in place, but you have to be very careful because they will shift ever so slightly when loading a save and if a barrel for example jams into the undercarriage, The truck goes flying and everything falls off. I tend to add one set of things at a time, save, and reload to test.

The bus engine oil pan is hitting the ground and snagging. You need bus wheels to get enough ground clearance to be "safe" and get back to the normal level of physics jank in this game.

BB gun definitely needs to be repaired or replaced - the condition deteriorates over time like with other items which reduces its effectiveness. That's basically the main reason why those rifles can spawn at locations you come across. PS take some of the stuff out of the boot - the back of the car is on the ground with the wheels clipping through the arches which is what's causing the glitchy behaviour.

Part of it is that, the other half is that because he isn't using bus wheels, the engine clips the ground. It'll also help to think about weight distribution in the trailer, since more weight behind the axle causes instability.

What a time to be alive.

“Why did that happen!” Noticeable floored car scratches the ground.

ALWAYS load a trailer with the heavy stuff in front of the axle and the light stuff in the rear to minimize the trailer slap. Also, if/when the trailer starts doing it's wiggle dance, accelerate out if it, NEVER hit the brakes during a trailer slap.

Did you know, the worse the state of your weapon, the less accurate/ efficient it is?! Look at your rotten air gun, Mate! No wonder, you need 22 bullets to kill one freakin' rabbit!

I think the rabbits weren’t dying because your gun is in rubbish condition. Maybe you can fix it with a brush

Use any of the baskets you find, they're extremely helpful at holding things in place. Attach them to a surface and anything you place in them (and from what i've tested, on them) will freeze them in place. Never lose a hose or a brush again!

Yeah. they can go upside down, left, right, and the items stay in place. Although, if stored with other objects like tires, it'll attach to them .It's frustrating sometimes but useful.

Maybe you can drop and clean up you bb shooter with a brush or and some spray because it looks in bad condition what might decrease the damage it does

I always leave an empty slot on my tool bar so I have free hands so to speak.

5km per episode. 1 episode per week. Should only take 20 years to do a playthrough.

My current setup is the truck with the emergency scooter in back pulling the fuel trailer which is pulling the little trailer. I've got truck tires all the way around (yes you can put truck tires on the little trailer) because the height difference caused the little trailer to be way too glitchy with car tires. It looks crazy and it's still a little glitchy but it drives and tows pretty nicely.

Mine is similar, no little trailer yet, got several Jerry cans and oil cans stored on the rear racks, an empty barrel and some baskets on the side rack, the baskets holding cleaning supplies and a box or two of ammo, don't like having too much ammo in them as that seems to equate for when reload makes the truck fly. Got a fuel trailer and some spare supplies in the back of the truck including atm 4 wheels and an emergency moped (which is more for immersion than need, although so are the 60 litres of water, 5 oil cans and tons of spare fuel.) Also careful placing of rebar for more secureness, needed them on side racks too. I am concerned about how much fuel it burns though wondering if I should just switch to a fuel truck. It goes through a couple of litres in just a few minutes of driving. Currently using Bus Engine for the added power as truck engine sucks, and fully clean Bus Radiator which seems to consume no water at all.

Suggestion: fill the spare engine with all the oil you can get. Also refuel the Jerry can with petrol so you can maybe use it later. Looking for more episodes of the long drive =D

Save often away from buildings. I usually save every 20 miles. I currently have a IFA W50 with a shed, a tank trailer, a shed trainer, and a open wooden bed trailer. Seems to me that the more in tow the easier it is to drive fast. I have also found that keeping the zoom on (right mouse) with the icon centered make driving fast easier too. Thanks for doing these videos!

The best way to build insane speed with the bus engine: 1. Accelerate the revs to max from a stop 2. Release the throttle while still rolling 3. Push the throttle hard when the engine goes back to idle-ish while you still have speed 4. Repeat. Example: You can get up to 200kmh+ by just releasing throttle while rolling at 100kmh+ and then pushing it hard, again release it to return to idle now rolling at 160kmh+

I have a theory... If you put more weight BEHIND the trailer axle, it makes the back of the connected car lighter... That means that for an instant (if you say...hit a bump), only your front tires are on the ground. Control goes to **** after that. I love your videos, bud! Great show! -Vic

~60 litres is the maximum of you can "lift" the barrel (sorry for the English)

I do it with 70 litres. I have 3 barrels of diesel, 70 litres each that I can lift onto the back of the flatbed truck. If you try to carry it you walk really slowly though.

Alex, either use a brush to clean up your air rifle, or pick up a better one when you find it. Yours is in terrible condition and is probably affecting accuracy, damage etc.

The bus engine in the car is governed to 100 km/h but the governor has activation lag so if you pulse the W key the bus engined car will surge up to 160. I see you already kinda figured it out.

Failrace: If you drive a car with 3 wheels instead of four it wil scrape a corner off and break the car Citroën ds (oldtimer): i don't have such weakness

Trailer flipped because the wheel was on the jerry can and they were glitching. Gotta lay out trailer contents as flat as possible.

Big tip for getting speed with the bus engine ! When you've reached a 100km/h release the gas, let the rpms drop to idle while rolling and then tap on it again and again for short periods. If you keep the rpms low and use the torque of the engine, it will do a 160 up a hill without any questions :p I hope its a good enough explanation. Love the series 😁

A hack is with barrels is that most times you can fill 70+, and if you lay them over and roll them it's easier to move, walking is good, running makes them turn. Holding them and using the mouse wheel to move it forward, drop it run to it repeat and you can move faster

also tire squealing while driving can sometimes be because an object is bugging and rubbing against a tire and it can cause the tire to wear out very fast. I don't know if tire wear does a lot but that's stuff I've learned playing the game

Sunglasses get rid of the bright blinding sunsets. They add a color effect on some games, but you can turn that off in the setup.

Slopes are deceptive in this game, you can even go downhill when you think you are going up, but critically, going too fast, and downhill will do that, can make vehicles nigh uncontrollable, especially when towing a trailer. Try tp keep 120 as a max, when it starts zooming past 160 you are in trouble, especially as it takes forever to slow down. On some really steep hills I need to apply the handbrake just to keep it from going over 160mph.

To put the revolver away, put the rifle in your car, and put the rifle ammo in your car, you will now have two open slots, a gun that can fire 6 shots without reloading and each shot can kill a rabbit. Either ditch the pellet gun, or leave it in the trunk as a backup, I’ve never actually had to reload my revolver under pressure so I keep the box of ammo in a crate I attached to my truck (actually, I’ve got a full crate of full ammo boxes, idk, the rabbits don’t bother me all that often), they’ve changed the crates so that once something is in them it can’t be bounced out. You can also attach the crate to any vehicle, anywhere on the vehicle.

Also the car doesn't like coming on and off the road with the trailer at speed thats why you're flipping

The small baskets can be attached anywhere (and ANYWHERE, so be careful, they will bug things out if you mess up) and anything that fits inside them are basically physics free until you pick them back up out of the basket, great for the bottles and such so they don't rattle round and cause trouble. The bus engine seems limited in all cars to about 100kph, but in the truck it seems to let me up to 140 no problem. the truck engine is also diesel, just a bit less torque but doesn't seem to have the odd limiter on it.

I've never had problems with the 2-stroke overheating, you just have to make sure the fuel oil mixture isn't too rich or the car loses most of its power and you're stuck going 30

He’s saying if you swap a water cooled engine into the Trabant (the 2 cycle, air cooled engined car) it will over heat, which is true.

Yeah, that 2 stroke can kick 120+ if you keep it around 3% mix, really is a nice little starter engine.

Loving these vids on the long drive. Very much enjoying this series. Would even get behind some longer vids as well, 1hr ish?

My theory is the main character is a solar powered android/synth. Thats' why his drink capacity is a simple reservoir, and he doesn't need to eat. Sleeping is just low power state to pass time.

You only need one bullet from the revolver to put a rabbit down, so you have three rabbits left.

Alex, the two stroke estate wagon doesn't need a Coolant/radiator, it's a air cooled vehicle and they don't overheat at all. Also there is another variant of the estate wagon that isn't two stroke. Edit: Alex, it is designed to attach multiple trailers together to make a "train". As long as your vehicle is powerful enough to haul that much weight. Edit #2: Hopefully Alex will come across the same truck that I have, which is basically a military truck with a metal house on the back.

@@amichiganboiwhosereallazy1544 I know that, that's why I was explaining why the two stroke doesn't have a mounting for a radiator, hence the reason why he wouldn't be able to the bus engine. I also stated there is another variation of the estate car that isn't a two stroke that he WOULD be able to use, as well as me hoping he comes across a truck like the one that I have in my game.

Heres a rabbit related tip: rabbits usually give a warning call, so you will know when one is close by and preparing to attack

I've already worked the Barrels out, you can lift and move the Barrel with 70/80 in it, however you are extremely slow. Also Loving this Series.

Sometimes the sand has divots along the roadside and if half your vehicle drives through that and the other one is on-road I think you can catch the Davis’s chin on the edge of the curb. I’ve had that happen a few times now and it always front-flips when I do, which is what leads me to believe that’s how the car is biting into the ground. It never rolls you like it would if you hit a rock at speed.

That fuel station you found at the end is the best place to find vehicles, and you should probably move the existing cars a but before saving as when you reload new ones can spawn on top of them and cause 'glitchiness'

the truck wheels on the back will prevent the random glitch outs. The reason the car "janks" out is because the chassis snags on the edge of the road

Maybe if you find a gun that isn't completely rusted it'll be worth switching to?

I believe I've entered this series at a very strange place. Alex is lifting oil barrels and engines like I lift protein shakes but has an unspeakable fear of rabbits...

Mounting the Bus engine to the truck is very difficult, but worth it as its significantly more powerful than the truck engine. You kind of have to crawl under the truck and pull the engine in close and get it just right to mount without dropping it. Truck with fully clean Bus Radiator seems to consume 0 water atm, just sits at 10L comfortably. I do burn a lot of fuel though, but that may be due to the fuel trailer.

Barrels: 60L is a good target. 65L is about the absolute max you can effectively manipulate. At 70 You can still just move it using run, but you need a Siphon to drain it.

I found a trick that reduced the wiggle of the big trailer I found (while also stopping things falling off the back of it!)... I hooked the small trailer to the cars then hooked up the big one to the small trailer and put bus/truck wheels on the back while keeping the car wheels on the front of it... weirdly it seems to work pretty well and reduced the wiggling I was getting with the trailers the other way around.

You *can* carry four things and swap from 1-4 but you usually only carry three so you have a space for empty hands. Maybe store the binoculars on your passenger seat and only grab them when needed?

The Bus Engine as far as i know can't go faster than 100, the busses themselves top out at 70ish. That is why i decided to go back to my car engine and left the bus engine in the desert alone :(. Also i lost the Road right at the beginning and found it again after 4 days thanks to a tip from Alex that Boats seem to point at the road

if you do find a bus, as tempting as it is, dont take it, they struggle ALOT with hills, the trucks and cars seem to be fine, but the bus just looses all momentum as soon as you hit a hill

When it comes to moving heavy objects perhaps it would be more efficient to pick it up, turn around, set it down, and repeat. Sort of like leap frogging the item along since you can swivel at a normal speed but you walk extremely slowly.

I've found that the Barrels you can get upto 70 Litre before you then struggle to really move them. With the Estate car, I have put a bus engine in one & put the cooling system in too, with no issue.. Maybe that one is a different vehicle to the one I used.. I'm now in a truck with a bed and nearly 3k of Diesel.. Also, your BB gun, if you find a brush, you can clean it up by dropping in onto the floor and giving it a scrub.. The bus engine will top out at a certain RPM so your pretty much at top speed with it & it drinks fuel lolz The bus wheels on the back do make it super stable.. & hot rod ish... but pulling anything with small wheels.. yeah.. JANKY

:I cringed/hissed when you loaded the ending and barrel onto the far end of the trailer 18:36 (see the various tongue weight / trailer sway safety demonstration videos), but I can't tell if the game currently (or will) model tongue weight when towing. edit2: Yeah... that oil can wasn't in the trailer before the flip. Trunk contents getting snagged by the rear-tires theory seems persuasive. I wonder how many of those smaller items would be safe in the back seats. edit: suggest "Trailer Weight Distribution Explained & Shown"

Alex let off the throttle for a bit when using the bus engine then accelerate. It will shift up. I can comfortably go 120 kmh with the stock tires and a fully loaded trailer with barrels

Why did that happen??, Maybe because the rear of the car is on the floor 😂🤣 and it doesn't like rejoining the road at speed or a Jankey angle 😅.

Feel like getting one of those Squareback looking things going since you wouldn’t have to deal with overheating.

If the car has a lot of stuff and it’s heavy. Sometimes the car can get caught on the edge of the road and cause a huge crash.

Be glad it's not real life.

Try to move the barrel to the very rear of the trailer. Balance the trailer so the back tires of the car don’t clip through the body also make sure the wheels aren’t off the ground. Might solve some of the jankiness.

The barrel is near impossible to move around when it has about 40-50 liters of any fluid. Also, you can polish your gun like you can with body panels to do more damage to rabbits

The Long Drive is by faaaaar my favourite Series of yours, the game is insanely fun to play and to watch!

It's funny watching Scape Gote who knows everything about this game, then watching Alex that knows absolutely nothing about this game lol.

talking of speed, bus engine in the truck is one speedy combo, i put the car speedo on the truck as well as it will go 160 on flat ground and well beyond that down hill, 200+ at least by how it looks. at those speeds control is limited lets say. 150 or around there is perfect

With really havy items like full barrels and engines, faster to push them along the ground than carry them.

There is definitely something wrong with the rear suspension of the Renault. And might caused the flip.

I have an idea what you could do I know it would take a long time but take everything out of your car as threaded out and organise all your stuff so you know what you have and get rid of stuff you don't need make the car as nice and beautiful as possible and see how long it lasts on one tank

Look up “The Long Drive in Real Life”, the developer owns a Trabant, he also has an under lever pellet gun like the one in the game. A lot of the stuff in the game is modeled on stuff he owns.

Your car is low on oil, that's a bit alarming. I'd fill it up with the oil in the trailer.

about the barel and filling liquids as long as the liquid is pouring onto the side with the cap it will fill i.e with the barrels, you can pour intot he middle of the barel and as long as the barel is open it will fill,

There's a glitch with the bus engine when it's in a car where if you let it go to idle at 100kmh and then accelerate again it gets a 10-20km speed boost and you can keep doing that and send the speedo needle past 160km and almost all the way round to 0 again. Things get very janky past 160kmh

Put the BB gun in the boot or lose it when you get more revolver ammo.

If you are going downhill and you want to slow down without spinning out. Use the handbrake to slow down instead. Also you can pee out whatever it is you drank. So you can use your bladder to store emergency fluids. Lol.

Look inside the roof. There can be stuff hidden up there. Above the ceiling

I've got to be honest, my emergency moped generally seems more trouble than its worth, especially as its only useful for immersion.
