This video was a one-take, don't really have the time to edit it, but take it as a more conversation style of a video. To clarify on one important matter, I would have love to share screenshots of the conversation I had with Arkchive on Discord, but I don't have chat history of it anymore. I believe it's because Arkchive removed his Discord account and made a new one, so I don't have any receipts. But, if Arkchive chooses to retaliate, all I can say is he has nothing to fire back about when my stream VOD channels are pure evidence of effort. Maybe he should start streaming too and prove to people that his videos are authentic. Anyways, see you all in my base video to come

I think stage guides were a bad match for you anyways. I don't mean that you're bad at it, it's simply that you shine more doing more entertaining content. For example, I think it would be more fun to watch you explain mechanics of a event rather than guides, also because many players avoid using guides or only use them when they are really stuck.

I just want to say: Your philosophy of making guide videos that speak directly to less experienced players was SO invaluable to helping my many friends who had just started the game around the time you were releasing those vids. It sounds like this choice to stop making the guides is definitely what’s best for your own happiness (and certainly your other analysis vids are what brought *me* to your channel!), but I definitely want to say that those hours you spent really were meaningful. Your guides were truly a head above the rest as a teaching tool-and that’s the best reason to use guides in the first place.

This reminds me of a 'bearknights cc' video I'd seen, where a creator said how they put so much effort into a clear only to find someone else playing the same niche that did basically the same clear. This NL-EX-8 drama feels like too much being coming out of a misunderstanding

Personally I like to clear every stage blind the 1st time so I rarely watch stage guides anymore. Usually I watch low operator trust farming guides for the event stages after I've already cleared them the 1st time. Sometimes I'll watch a video just for a stage I struggled on because I want to know what I missed or what some different strategies are.

Agreed. Clearing a stage and then making a trust farm afterwards is far more satisfying to me than copying a guide. I mean... If you just go into every stage with the mindset of "I will 1:1 do what this video does", then are you even playing the game at that point? If you don't even try to beat the stage, then what exactly is Arknights offering you?

I was THERE for nearly the entire NL-EX-8 theory stream, so hearing this be brought up again breaks my heart. As for base setups, it's been so highly debated for so long that I'm convinced at this point it's just personal preference and there is no "best" setup. Thanks for the hard work you put into your content, it does not go unnoticed.

AK global day one player here. I got to this channel precisely because I could tell that you are trying to teach new players and get them to learn the mechanics, so that one day they will no longer have to rely on guides. The other big AK KZreadrs that I watched had quick and effective guides, but I definitely did not understand the reason behind half of their decisions. Or, I took more time trying to understand the stage mechanics, because the guide did not highlight the core mechanic/strategy at all! Last year I ended up taking a break from AK for a few weeks because I felt watching those guides made me DUMBER and I just blindly copypasting other's homework. That's not what I play videogames for! I swear I've learnt more from your guides than all the other guides combined. Really supportive of your decision and agree that the market for AK guides is shrinking. I'll be sure to keep watching whatever you put out because you have a superb understanding of the game and I feel I can continue to learn more from you

I did appreciate your stage guides for sure, I mostly used them when I was unsure if what I was initially doing was right or confirmation that the boss mechanics worked like I thought they did. I do think that you make good guides and I think an Ark-Versity style videos would be good. Where you can go over stage mechanics, operator mechanics, Boss mechanics and teach the community what does what and why you use them in X,Y,Z situations or stages. You are already doing this with your Operator Showcase, so maybe something expanding on stage, event or boss mechanics could be another thing to go over that newer players could learn about. Love all your content regardless!

I'm happy for you and the new direction you want to take with the channel! It can't have been an easy decision to make, but I honestly think focusing more on explaining the mechanics and teaching newer players the ropes could be the perfect niche for you and also just what the community on global needs. Your passion for the game really shows and having someone like you show how complex and fun the gameplay can be would be awesome and get even more people excited about it (because, let's be honest, the game doesn't exactly hold your hand when it comes to figuring out certain strategies, so unless you're creative, don't mind a ton of trial-and-error, and have a decently varied roster, you'll probably never grasp what kind of insane or fun strategies you could pull off in this game). I won't lie, there've been times when I relied on brain dead guides just to beat event stages due to time constraints (exam season *cough,* thesis deadlines *cough*), but it always came with a sense of frustration along the lines of "damn, I wish I had the time to figure this out for myself." And, just like you said, there are big names doing stage guides out there already and I can see how the lacking return on those videos would be frustrating for you since they take so much time to put out. I truly think shifting away from that kind of content will be a win for both you and the community as a whole :) When I started playing, I learned most about strategies by watching guides and trying to figure out what they were doing on a given stage - I still remember how my mind was blown by seeing the combination of Ifrit + defenders to keep enemies in her path, haha!! It would have taken me much longer to catch onto that as a whole, so showing some strats like that to give newbies ideas would be great imo. Anyway, I just want to say that I look forward to the future of your channel (I already love the "this month/week in Arknights" update vids), hope any stupid beef will resolve itself so you can be at peace, and uni goes well for you! (P.S. Unrelated, but remember Interlocking Competition? I really loved it and how it forced you to change your approach to stages and use units you normally wouldn't consider. I kept waiting for it to be brought back, but it doesn't seem likely at this point :'))

As someone who really benefited from your guides when I was new (especially during SN and the NL rerun), thanks for the help and all of your hard work. I totally understand why you want to step back from those, but also, I'm of the opinion that your operator showcases are more beneficial for people in the long run, since they teach people how to use the unit, that they can peruse once they're done watching someone's stage guide. It's like the proverb of giving someone a fish vs teaching them to fish.

Kukki, thanks for all the guides so far. Its definitely true that I usually use mostly oyuki's/kyo's guides, but usually I just watch your guides even after the event is over just to see how you'll tackle the stage, for those videos are entertaining and just overall nice to watch. Guide making is definitely time consuming, and juggling between uni and guide making is already an impressive feat. As for the base, while I am running 2-4-3, most people with a functional brain would not side with Arkchive and his claims. I prefer 2-4-3 due to a completionism mentality (dorms at lv 1 just irk me too much), and just the more causal playstyle in general. However, Arkchive's way shoving it down everyone's throats without proper research and poorly presented information is just really egoistical and low effort of him. Looking forward to your more refined base guide. I do have to admit though, that Arkchive does make some semi-decent guides, like that for RA (I hope it isn't stolen since he was whining about reporting people that steal his content, quite ironic of him). The guide is quite effective, but the delivery on those guides were so insufferable though, the holier-than-thou energy is clear as day, and just overall unpleasant to watch. Can't go 3 mins into one of his videos before being extremely repulsed. As a fellow SG dweller, we do not claim that ccb as one of our own. By deleting and silencing comments on his channel and discord chats addressing where he was lacking, as well as dwelling on the smallest things of like a widely-known strategy (in that of NL-EX-8) to defame someone, its quite stuck-up of him and just pathetic really. Don't want to slander him too much, but I definitely have a strong distaste towards him due to his attitude and the way he treats constructive criticism in general. Stay strong Kukki, and all the best in Uni!

Arkchive kind of shot himself in the foot with his base video. The comments are absolutely dunking on him. All of the negative comments have significantly more likes than the positive ones and it's approaching the point where combined they have more likes than the video itself. He has damaged his credibility a bit but IDK how much people care about that if they're just looking for a quick strategy to copy. I think you make a good point, if we draw attention to him it just encourages him to keep being a troll so that he can get views and activity. The only challenge is that if we ignore him then he just spreads misinformation into the community that you have to continuously deal with tangentially. Maybe a hybrid approach is needed to just call him out on his BS until people realize not to take him too seriously (even if they still like the convenience of quick stolen guides) and then just ignore him until he goes away.

(TL;DR at last paragraph, sorry for being long winded) When i watched your guides when they were still out, it feels more like a "lecture" than "guide" (in a good way, like if you had a good teacher in your favorite class). Usually how i did it back when i was a new player was 1) watch your video to get what's happening, 2) watch other guides to know why guides work 3) clear the stage with E1L30/40 3 stars and compensate with higher rarity E1L20s, etc. Which i would say was a good influence for me playing AK (nowadays i learn mechanics then clear with meta then try to clear them with VanguardKnights and still have fun while grinding 3-5 hrs solving the problem, god getting my first CC daily max risk with non-maxed vanguards felt so good) In that sense, i watch your channel for 1) my monthly dose of AK kukki memes and 2) "showcase" videos where you actually explain stuff e.g. operators, mechanics, account, etc. So if you like making that kind of content, maybe just switch your advertising to something like that instead? TL;DR Thank you and keep up with the good work (or not, uni is prob more important XD), and if you ever go back to "guides", maybe switch the title to something like "Event/Mechanic Showcase"? No idea who Arkchive is so not really interested in that :P Thanks kukki :D

I'll always stop by to watch videos you make cause I think they're great. No pressure to go back to making guides if you feel like your passion lies elsewhere within the game but I still remember how I first found out about you. When I came back to the game for CC10, and all the guides always worked like I always remembered. Put this here, put this there. As I'd just returned though, I'd never actually experienced the artillery mechanic in the story. So even though I was following guides, I had no bloody clue how and who the thing would target, why it would randomly nuke my Hoshiguma (because she had on the module for +1 block). It was only because you took the time to explain what was going on that made me realize what was happening. I know I'm just one person, but if teaching was your goal, consider that you had at least one successful student! As for a base guide, if I could suggest something to touch on: 243 vs 252 in a post module world. I feel like the constraints on LMD are much higher than XP now as modules require a mountain of additional LMD, but not XP. I've run a 243, and always put all my drones into the trading post, and the thought of 252 instead makes me wonder. It's not so much a question of production. I fully acknowledge that 252 can create more gold bars and xp, but it feels like while you have the higher production, it's meaningless. Both bases run 2 trading posts, and as I already sink all my drones into the trading post, my LMD production isn't likely to change. This means that I either create more gold bars than 243 (which I can't redeem), create more XP than 243 (which I don't have the LMD to use), or swap my gold production to avoid over producing gold, but then I just create even more XP, which I again still can't use. Either way I look forward to the stuff you've got in the works, and while you may not make guides anymore, thank you for all the lessons you taught during the time you did make them!

one thing you got wrong is that, you cannot overproduce gold, ofc this is more reliant in the operators that you have but overall you just dont overproduce gold because the tp never stops trading even if you switch to producing exp youll run out of gold in a few days. i saved 700 bars once, and i ran out in around 6 days after only producing exp. the advantage of 252, is that no matter your operators in the tp you can always be flexible with your production, either more exp or more gold.

@@a-1455 I'm not too sure what I'm doing wrong, but what I notice is I dump every drone I have into redeeming at the trading post, but between the gold I produce (2 of my factories always are on gold), the monthly shop, and the daily shop, I tend to break around even every month. In this case, since 243 and 252 both only run 2 trading posts, my gold to lmd redeeming ability isn't going to change. So yea I could swap all my gold production to xp when I end up with "too much gold", but to my point what I said, what good is more xp when I can't even spend it because I don't have the lmd (which at least from what I can tell, modules put a huge drain on). I don't particularly think the ops I'm running in the trading post are too bad, though maybe it's cause they aren't all e2 yet.

My arknights experience is different from when I started. I just don't want to waste time much in the game anymore that is why I kind of do not like SSS, IS (though sometimes when I start this I just completely engrossed for hours then not play IS again for weeks until I feel like playing again), the new Within Fire mode since I have to play the game and there is no auto. Now my joy on arknights is collecting ops. After 2 years+ finally completed all the ops just months ago (its harder to get all 5* than the 6*). I have all my 6* at least e2 40 and most meta at least m3 and lvl 90 and from here on out I just go in blind with stages 1-5ish which is easy for my roster then just search for trust or afk guide right away for the harder/farming later stages on an event sine I just want it done so I can start the Auto farming. I like it since I maintain my account without really doing much, just doing dorm management every 12 hours, depleting my sanity everyday and depleting all my sanity packs weekly before they expire just randomly choosing a stage if there are no events, LS-6. CE-6 or AP-5 or replenishing my chips. This is the only game in my life that I did not fail to login everyday for the past 2 years given I only need very little time to finish my daily task and most of it is auto. This is why I do not play like Genshin Impact where you really have to play it everyday and the lack of auto on that game.

on the concept of making videos for viewers to learn: can consider making creative videos that showcase certain game mechanics. e.g. splitbox, flagpipe, rotating perma/semi-perma stuns, handling certain enemies mechanics (e.g. exploding spiders blah). so that it would not just be for 1 stage but applicable to a variety of stages.

Personally i preferred your guides because you explained what the stage gimmick was and why you chose that operator to counter a gimmick. While i am sad i understand why you wouldn't be doing guides, but i do think an event mechanic guide might be interesting, as itd help the player to understand rather than just copy and doesn't step on the toes of people who just want to get it done because of time (understandably) vs the people who want to play the stages, try out different things, see how their operator can work in that. Of course its understandable if you don't have time to that or if you'd rather focus on other things, since they would take up a bit of time too like arkpedia or operator showcases, those too help a lot to understand the game at a deeper level and makes it easier to adapt to the learning curve 😊

If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle." Your guide videos are conceptual, great for players who want to figure things out on their own, but bad for those who want it that fast. And, not everybody needs to follow the same path. Yours good by its own and it should be kept that way. But, TBH, hearing your words... This is somewhat we refer to as "cancel" culture. Either he perceives you as a threat / he's wishes to be political in expressing his dominance in the guides he makes in order to attract more viewers, the typical method would be to stir up drama like this (taking you down / use you as a stepping stone), we as humans in nature are tend to be fond on negative stuff rather than positive ones. This kind of thing normally happens quite often in the corporate world. Eg. I dislike this person in the workplace, I go spread negative rumors about him / her "first hand" in order to gain public trust, support from others, then when the "victim" realizes that he/she was being accused for things that he / she did not commit, whatever he / she says later on will have to "ride against the odds" to "prove" his / her innocence, as the public opinion has already swayed towards the "starter" who spread lies in the first place. Anyways Kukki, good luck in creating more Arknights content in the future at your own pace, prioritize studies & health in your daily life, thank you for all your effort in creating past video guides & other contents, I've always enjoyed them & especially watching your live stream till early morning. Those who watch will know how try hard you mix & match around units just make a 4 star only / 1 6 star operator clear for EX stages + Challenge Mode. Non-sense aside, after around 6 months of malding in this game, i can confidently say that i've reached a stage where i don't really need to rely on guides anymore and if i do, it's mostly a means to get an overview of how the stage plays out, which saves me the time going in blind. Even so, i still enjoy rewatching some of your old guides because of how you approach making them, which gives them more inherent value than just simply guides.

As for 2-5-2 vs 2-4-3, I'm sure 2-5-2 is fine, possibly great even. But, I think that for most new players, 2-5-2 would be unintuitive and a lot of people representing the strategy are really standoffish about it. The only reason I personally am bothered by it is that that discussion took over my base design discussions entirely back in the day to where dorm designs disappeared entirely because people would argue over 2-5-2 being best for well over a year. It definitely got old, especially as a day 1er who had 2-4-3'd their base ages ago and couldn't even bother trying to go that route even if they wanted.
