COULD THIS HAVE ALL BEEN A DREAM & PERHAPS "THE TOUCH" WAS HIM WRESTLING HIMSELF IN HIS DREAM & HIM POPPING HIS OWN HIP OUT OF JOINT WHILE FLAILING AROUND IN HIS SLEEP, LEAVING HIM WITH A "THORN IN HIS SIDE" LITERALLY & SINCE IT ALL HAPPENED IN HIS CONSCIENCE HE NAMED THE PLACE PINEAL? STILL TRUE TO THE FACT, THAT, ALL THE WHILE, IT WAS GOD SENDING HIM THE MESSAGE THROUGH A DREAM OR VISION & TELLING HIM TO CHANGE HIS NAME ALONG WITH ALL THE OTHER BLESSINGS HE BESTOWED UPON HIM?
God knew to bring me here for a deeper understanding of what I read this morning! Thank you for piecing everything together 🥹

Prayer is so important. God is the only one who can give us a better understanding of His Word. He does this through His Spirit who will guide us into all truth. So we need to ask for that. Then consistently spend time with the Word and read it very attentively as a unified story that leads to Jesus. Note the repetitions, ponder the connections, think about how the text reveals Jesus and the theme of salvation. Keep doing that and you will gain a deeper understanding of the Bible. Blessings!

Thanks a lot. Almighty God bless you. Genesis 32: 22- 32. Jacob beat the god of Bible the next morning. How can possible a man beat the god of Bible. The second question God knows the name of all stars one by one and does know the name of Jacob. The third question is your Bible says no one saw god. Therefore, Bible is a book of lies and contradictions. Christians scholars say Bible had 50.000 lies, contradictions and funy jokes, like what is your name? God of 10 commandments knows the name of every person one by one.
Thanks, God bless you!

That's a very profound truth that you bring out in this video. It makes me think of what David says in Psalms 51 "Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom. "

Well....in addition to changing his name, one thing coming out the gate you need to understand about all Heavenly Father "he always asks a question first".. giving one an opportunity for honesty, to be truthful, now.. do y'all believe for a second.. God didn't know Jacob's name.. "of course he did", going back in the garden, the first thing he asked Adam when Adam hid himself from God, "who told you you was naked".. question, now, you think God didn't know what had transpired.. of course he did, it's to give man the opportunity to be truthful with him, over and over and over again you see this in God's word, he'll always ask the question first, giving one the opportunity for honesty.. this is why he asked him his name, "God is always Fair"...check it out for yourself, how precious he is, I love him for that, "I just do" 🙏💯

I subscribed today. How many times in life have we all wrestled with God?? Am I wrestling with Him or myself or Satan. Why was God wrestling with his servant??? God was trying to grow Jacob up into the man God wanted him to be..... Just as He does with all of us He never gives up on us His patience is infinite with those who repent and have faith Him and the cleansing blood of Jesus.

Ah yes, the beautiful tale of Jacob's Great Heel Turn where he wrestles with God all night & pivots from a conman to the Patriarch of the Patriarchs...the God-Wrestler. Thank you for pointing-out some of the finer points & parallelisms that are often overlooked, it's such a quick passage when you're reading it that you can forget to slow down and think about what just happened in the narrative.
Wow! ❤ I thought it was so Jacob can realize who he is at that very moment and throw it away so he can have a new name. I don’t know but this perspective is right on the nail

Thanks! Greetings to India!
I've recently started educating myself on the idea of God. I'm a self proclaimed Atheist, however since a young age I have always been surrounded by the idea of religion. My grandfather was a Jehovah Witness and I attended Church of England schools both as a child and a teenager. I have never frequented a church,, however sometimes I enter them to indulge my curiosity. For me as someone who is trying to grasp the concept of what make a god, well a god; I have no understanding of what faith is. How is a faith in god any different to the faith I place in people. Jacob a man who has lived through hardship, in the face of certain danger, makes the decision to send his family and acquaintances across the river, as his brother marches towards him, with 400 Men. Jacob dreams he wrestles with an angel, which turns out to be God. God names him Israel, meaning those who wrestle with god, and this is possibly one of the first passages in the bible that has truly resonated with me. My concept of the story, is that everyone in times of hardship, struggles with the idea of faith. Be that in God or circumstance. You wrestle with the idea of god. Why is it me that you unwittingly test? Why is it I must make these hard choices? Have you abandoned me? Will you help me? Will you guide me? All questions that in the face of god, are lost and unanswered. I find that I struggle with the Idea of god, not because I don't believe in his existence. God is an idea created by humans, so they can reconcile with the blessing that is free will. But because I find it hard to believe that there is one god. This is not the same god today that wrestled with Jacob. This god, although all powerful, knows not of Jacobs name. Which is contradicting. If he truly was the god of Jacobs forefathers, would God not already know Jacobs name? And if he was the god of today, he is all knowing, which would contradict him not knowing Jacobs name. Edit: having watched the video in full I have found a few of my questions answered to an extent. Thank you!!! These are my ramblings and they make no sense, but I like to type things down. Feel free to discuss with me any point I've raised or haven't raised. Thanks :)
God made us for his pleasure and where we seek who that's going to be the best choice is that which is ordained or recited
Wow
Once you realize THE GOSPEL is true, you can then interpret every book of the Bible!!!

Hello! Isn’t it impossible to see God? How could Jacob then see him. Wasn’t the man a angel instead of God? Just curious 🧐
@MasterpieceBible
Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question! It is impossible to see God except when he comes to us in human form. The Bible is clear that Jesus is God and just as clear that people saw him. Jacob explicitly says that he saw God and the story only makes sense if it was God because only God could provide the blessing Jacob longed for. Like many other interpreters, I believe that Jacob wrestled with Jesus who came down and took on human form just like he did in the New Testament. This also fits with Jacob's experience of receiving a new identity: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come (2 Cor 5:17).

@@MasterpieceBible, great video, and any compliment from me is extremely difficult to acquire. The most interesting things in scripture tend to be the places that seem to conflict with other parts of scripture, such as God asking Jacob for his name when a “God” shouldn’t need it. For example, you claim, “It is impossible to see God except when he comes to us in human form” when actually the scriptures conflicts with that statement. Specifically, John 1:18, John 6:46, 1 John 4:12, 1 John 4:20, and 3 John 1:11. Yet, Jesus is God, and the scriptures state Adam saw God, as did Abraham, Moses, and many others, so the scripture is not in agreement, but I am telling you that it does not conflict, but one must learn this nuance to understand God. Maybe you would like me to email you.

Jacob name in hebrew comes from the root A. K. V עקב Meaning to follow after.... It is not to deceive. Esav said, Jacob as his name, followed him twice and took once his first born, than second time the blessing. JACOB = FOLLOW

@@firstroundboxing7649 Thanks for your questions! The wording and context of both passages (Gen 32, Exod 23) indicate that the answer is yes. :)
He was wrestling with Enoch not God. Jacob was confused he thought esua was lord. The thing is God was known at this time and of coarse Enoch resembled him.
No one can see God. God reveals Himself through dreams and visions only. The Bible clearly says Moses is the only exception. Therefore, Jacob did not wrestle with God. Jacob wrestled with an angel. Angel represented God but not God Himself. Jacob thought he wrestled with God. That was just his unilateral proclamation not confirmed by any other Bible verses. In Hosea 12:4, Jacob's opponent is described as "malakh", which means angel.
what God are you talking about because scripture tell us psalm 147 /19/20 he show his words to Jacob and his statutes and judgments to Israel for he has never dealt with any other nation and for his judgments they have not known them that's why I ask what God are you talking about according to the bible he show his words to Jacob an Israelite his statutes and judgments to Israel jacon name was change to Israel so the most high is talking to Israel bible never mention no other nation of people according to scripture he never dealt with any other nation so what do you know of his words statutes or judgments
Jacob didn't "steal" ANYTHING. Esau "sold" his birthright. You have not done your due diligence.
It was an angel that Jacob wrestled with He wrestles with him for Gods favor False teachers use this text to prove God became a man but it was an angel Bible doesnt contradict Jehovah told moses no man can see me and live
@MasterpieceBible

Except that Jacob himself said it was God and that Hosea says it was God. And that this was not the only instance where God revealed himself as a man (e.g. Gen 18). What God is talking about in Exod 33 is that no man can see him in his glory and live. He is not talking about seeing him in human form. Otherwise everyone that met Jesus would have had to die.

Correct. Unless God in his great mercy accomodated in such a way that we could handle it. If he is truly almighty he should be able to do that, right? And the Bible testifies that he did indeed do it. According to John 1 Jesus (1) is God, (2) is the creator of everything and (3) became a man.
