How many fighters you think Dana has heard talk about how they'll face anyone, any time, anywhere, only to have them run from every contract until they get assigned a tomato can they're almost confident of defeating? Since MacGregor turned the UFC into WWE, fighters with a big mouth are a dime for six dozen. Not just the usual one. Almost invariably the bigger the mouth the lower the talent, heart, etc... Dana was right to be hesitant. That's his job. In the end Holland backed himself & Dana admitted he got it wrong. It's almost as touching a fairy tale as Pretty Women... if Richard Gere was an fighter who talked the entire way through his match with a roid-stuffed Jason Alexander.

Two, they have to pay coaches, trainers, health insurance, and literally everyone else out of that Three, they fight max 2-3 times a year. Four, minimum pay for a fight is $12k. Fight twice in a year and your take home would probably be $10k after taxes and coaches. Most low/mid tier fighters have 2-3 fights a year max. Five, look some shit up before you comment.
