    @@aiku111 I think that’s mostly on Rupaul, bio queens do exist in the community but it was a push for the show to allow trans contestants in the first place. Which also brings along the argument that trans representation on the show is important as this art form and all of the LGBT community is built off of the hard work of trans people. If Ru’s main argument for the longest time was unfair advantage, he’d lose his mind over allowing bio queens (which brings around a whole other load of issues with the fact that the show has also never had any form of drag king representation). Basic takeaway is that the show is only one representation of the drag community meant for entertainment and while we can hope for more inclusivity in the future, we don’t have much say in the matter.

And also because trans people are so overlooked in society already, I personally want to see more of them have their time to shine (we did have Victoria scone as our current ciswoman representation, but I don’t know if there will be cisgender women on a regular season of drag race until maybe season 20 imo)

    I liked her for about a minute until she told Jocelyn, who was a huge fan, that she was a low rent version of herself. She thought she was a shoo-in to win and that finale knocked her down to earth. So she climbed aboard her soapbox to call out RuPaul on social media and Mama Ru does not play. So she was blocked and been crying ever since.

    @@eastexotic Yeah, trans people that came out on or after the show aka Rupaul didn't know they were trans in advance to reject them. Trans people who have since criticised Ru for this treatment and who have admitted they paused personally transitioning because they didn't want it to affect their chances of getting on the show. Fuck, he admitted himself he wouldn't have let Peppermint on, the first openly trans contestant on the show, if she had implants and that was season 9. And no, I just don't feel the need to blow smoke up 'Mama Ru's' ass. I can recognise the good he's done while also realising he's a corporate-speak hypocrite who was forced to adapt.

I thought the whole point of this show and winning these challenges was to be a performer who can DOI IT ALL... sing, dance, act, be funny, design your own outfit all the while looking absolutely postively SICKENING. Adore can sing, dance and even rap, but at that time, she was still green around the gills. As for Bianca Del Rio, she's a just a stand up comedy queen. Courtney checked off nealy all the boxes. Why she wasn't given the crown is still a mystery to me.

    @@AngryBudgieNoises I had a hard time connecting to Courtney Act, but it had nothing to do with her ego or lack of humility. I don't think humanity is the right word (connotatively), but humility is even less accurate. I guess I would say that on the show she came across as lacking soul. I think if she were a POC her fanbase would be unrecognizably diminutive.

  • @AngryBudgieNoises

    @AngryBudgieNoises

    8 ай бұрын

    @@gc7725 actually humility is accurate. There is a religious (largely xtian) saying that states the sin of pride being a poisonous force for the soul- this forms the basis for pride being the antonym to humility and the latter being the (partial) synonym for soul. I was deliberate with my word choice, as per my contextual understandings. I don’t agree with the severity of the word humanity as that does imply cruelty/cruel intentions and lack of general care at all for others which I personally don’t think fits even if she was at points a bit snarky to others- one thing you have to understand is how Australian humour amongst perceived mates exists, and it’s one thing about Courtney that didn’t translate to International audiences, and the edits really did not help. The humour is largely very dry and sarcastic, with little tonal shift, compare side by side with Bianca if you will, she is also very dry and sarcastic but she has a very expressive tone so the same humour feels less blunt because of it, even if Bianca says something more brutal. Lexicon disagreements aside, I do agree with your last point- if Courtney was BIPOC the fandom would absolutely have been far more outraged.
