    Hello, many thanks for producing this video. I used it as a step by step guide to fit on my 10+. Took a couple of hours taking it easy. I can confirm the ride quality afterwards is a transformation - at speed the front wheel used to start bouncing, now it is smooth and steady as you like.

    Thanks for the review. Great to see the McLaren livery looking so good. Here in Bruce's home country, his name is all but forgotten. Great tip at the end too. That's the kind of thing that can quite frustrating after you complete the rebuild only to find that you can't adjust something. 16:50 100% agree. A near silent scooter flashing by at 30kph gives pedestrians a hell of a fright. Doesn't do our cause any good at all. It's bad enough overtaking cars when you're doing 50 something kph in the cycle lane haha. I admit to a childish delight seeing the surprise on car passengers faces as you cruise past their window on a frickin' scooter!

    I'm such a massive McLaren fan! That's really cool to know your hometown is Bruce's too. So glad you enjoyed the vid, its comment's such as these that make me really enjoy making them. I bought an EXA Form 291r shock (1250lbs) as I had seen some reports of the EXA K-A5 shocks failing due to poor seals and I wanted the guarantee that if the shock failed I'd still have the spring to support the front end. I chose 1250lbs as the site recommended a 1000lbs spring for my combined weight with the scooter, but in the end the front is still bottoming out when riding over kerbs or large bumps. The front mudguard is contacting the bottom of the steerer and making a loud knocking sound. I weight 75Kg + the 36Kg of the VSETT 10+. Rather than try my luck at the next spring setting of 1500lbs I've decided to order the K-A5 RR1 shock due to its adjustability. It should arrive next week. Fingers crossed I have better luck this time :)

    I really like my shock, i'm running close to 200psi on mine and i weigh a 105kg, so you will have plenty of spare capacity pressure wise. good luck with the install and dont forget to pump up the bottom (NP)first.

    Installed the A5RR on my 8X front and rear... amazing difference had to use the 125mm modle loose a little travel. but wow no more blury vision. instaled the same way, and then realized, YOU CAN ROTATE THE SHOCK SO THE THE BOTTOM {NP} POINTS THE OTHER WAY, And there is room to connect your pump.

    My A5RR1 on my 10+ gets stuck and not able to move freely like Alan's, who seem to have raised up that area somehow. I'm brand new to this, so I haven't delve into that yet. So the stuckness caused a dent and paint damage which led to my rotors being bent, and I ended up replacing to stock. Did yours fit and was able to move freely?

    For those that don’t know about pressure for these air shocks, you’ll need to find your comfort spot in air. He is a 200lbs rider so you could use those settings for air pressure then dialing them back to find your ride comfort. I’m a lightweight rider about 140lbs and I have my settings set at 130 PSI main & 65 negative psi. To simplify this, MP (main pressure) should always be higher then NP (negative pressure) and it’s typically got to be about half of the main pressure (MP) . There is no perfect setting but depending on your weight you’ll need to start higher or lower to find your ride comfort.

    Hey Alan? 🙂 Got your reply and found it on AliExpress. Thank you for the prompt reply. One other question, though. This spring is listed as a "rear spring". Not that it matters too much, with respect, it's the right size, and you show that it works and makes a big difference. Niiiccceee. Unique color variation of your scooter too. But would changing the rear shock on the Vsett also do it any better, or worse? And if better, what kind, what size and what specs would you suggest? The same size? Some different brand? And if a different brand, at what specifications, size wise? I appreciate the your time, help, and advice. My VSETT 10+ is still in the box, haven't even opened it yet. I'm waiting on some accessories from Carbon Revo to come in from Singapore as of now. I'm going to order the part (shock) for sure. I just want to get all my parts and accessories together and mod my scooter at one point in time as much as possible, because I will be taking the scooter, accessories, and mods to install over to a friends place to work on, as he has a very good set up area than I do, all the tools, and more mechanically inclined than I am, but not many days or time open on his schedule to do so in order to help me. I will wait for your reply. 👍🏿 Thank you again. Very much appreciated.

    Awesome glad you've got it sorted, yep that's rear for a bike as a MTB would have forks out front. Sounds like your scoots is going to epic! although i cant believe you ain't got it out of the box and given it some already!! as for rear shock i was toying with doing that next month. until I've looked at all the options I'm not in a position to advise. but as long as the length is right, the stroke is the same and the eyelet are the same your choice is between- dnm, rockshox and fox.

    @@escootermodificationguides2149 Thanks, Alan! I will wait and see what you and others may do in regards to the rear shock! As I am not as mechanically inclined and somewhat new to this awesome EV genre of bad ass scooters! As for my scooter still being in the box? It's torture to look at for sure! 🤢 But in a two bedroom apartment with two other roommates, it's a "no can do" for now! Still waiting on the shock from AliExpress anyways! I do know myself well enough to know that if I dare to peek into that box and have one look at that 28.0A beast, that I will not stop there! There would be scooter parts, battery chargers, cables and Styrofoam everywhere let alone the scooter itself, as I am not prepared to store it out back as of yet. Looking for a good cover on Amazon as of now! Thank you Alan, for your help and advice and for showing your great build on your podcast! 👍 Looking forward to more from your channel! 👍

    Great videos bro. What do you think of the Exa form 291r adjustable suspension and the Dnm AO-6 air suspension compared to the A5rr1?

  • @escootermodificationguides2149

    @escootermodificationguides2149

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hey escoot_NYC, loving your vids too! From the outset the evaform shock 291r relies on the coil spring for compression over a compression of the gas. now coil springs by its nature has a linier compression rate where as a compressed gas ramps up the further along the stroke. where the evaform will exceed the DNM A0-6 is the fact you can control the speed it rebounds. It really is like your car spring setup with a spring and damper in a combined strut. The gas only strut will also weigh a lot less. This is ideal if your wanting to make the scooter easier to carry. also less weight will make it easier for the scoots to accelerate (ever so slightly of course). my pick i needed rebound control, lightweight and progressive shock absorbtion. I got the same shocks for my Blade X, huge upgrade. I come from mountain bike world and admittedly even these are elcheapo vs the $500 shocks on my bike but the scooter isnt needing that kind of performance/ its not going on crazy trails. At first the lack of rebound dampening concerned me but having the negative air does provide effective dampening by progressively slowing the rebound by pushing back with air pressure, slowing the speed at top out preventing the bounce effect so its really good at staying glued to the tarmac. I personally think taking these things on real mounbtain bike trails or getting air is way beyond the design intent of these things. Your asking to break the thing or you.
