She became independent, cut ties with Aces and Queens. She created her own team (her close friends) envisioned her own gown and national costume, from the tiny details like her earrings...Even released her vlogs, her tourism videos at the perfect time. She did her research, statistics and all. Came up with her walk and twirl. She plotted the whole thing. She is a visionary. And best of all, she is really an advocate for something. She's truly a genuine person. And tactical too 😄

She is simply stunning gorgeous and undeniably intellectual.

Your dad was on point. Catriona was I think 100% the one to beat from the start. She just ran away with the crown and the rest can't cope up with the race. Zooooooom!

She also has scoliosis which became her bane when she was training for Miss U. She cried in pain but she never gave up and just kept pushing.

She won because from day 1 , she just being herself , down to earth humble , gracious and kind to others , that include confidently beautiful with a total package . she is uniquely beautiful inner and out , though she failed once at Miss world Stage ( blame julia Morley) But she came back to Universe and prove to everyone , that failure a stepping to success and sky no limits , she stood by her causes to help under privilege and to those in needs . that what i called a true Miss Universe and a Queen

She joined mU To proved that she won MW2016 and the crown was robbed from her.

I have never seen a Philippine candidate (other than Catriona) from any pageant who truly envisioned and creatively thought every aspect of her journey. She hand-picked her team. Anything she did, said, wore and represented embodied her authenticity and pride for her country. She was the captain of her ship. And the ship sailed well and reached its destination victoriously.

Nia, you're one of those girls who just look like they'll never grow old. Gorgeous. And regarding your comment on Cat's top 5 answer, "politically correct" is exactly the best term to describe it. The legalization of marijuana still is a touchy subject to most of the world, especially in the Philippines, where our current president's infamous drug war is still a hot-button topic despite it having laid low for the past year. Catriona, as smart as we all know she is, can talk for miles, but with that question, she knew that the less was said, the better. And that's what she gave - a simple answer that, like you said, could have been phrased better, but is concise and to the point. Enough to make a stand yet remain agreeable.

Addition to that, her experience in Miss World surely helped her to master everything - like what Pia Wurtzbach had!

Catriona was a professional commercial model with a ballet background, she's know how to move gracefully with projection .Everybody loves her Iconic Lava walk.

To sum it all up, to recap, in conclusion and condense everything - SHE (Catriona) NAILED IT! Proud of her :)

Cat was also the only one of the top 3 to fully answer the final question.

Before Demi won miss universe, my family went on our US trip. We met Demi outside planet Hollywood hotel were we stayed( where miss u was held then)she came up to us and to my little girls (you girls are so cute)she was so nice and bubbly. From that short encounter with her I had the feeling that she was going to win and she did. FYI I still have the photo of her when she said hello to my girls 😊

Her answer was the right answer. She’s representing the Philippines, a country who’s president is fighting against drug addiction (main priority of President Duterte’s administration). Marijuana’s recreational use is a stepping stone to hard core drug use.

Catriona is a phenomenal miss universe during this time and the past decades. She has a flatform that is prepared to help and support children. A truly confidently beautiful with a heart. ☺

My personal opinion was that cat had the same dress silhouette for her Nationals and prelims as well as finals, she only changed the pattern. Her walk didn't change since nationals in the formal wear section. She did the same poses. But when she gave that final answer she took the crown for me. She will be a brilliant Miss Universe .

She was also an independent candidate when she joined Miss Philippines. She didn't go into either beauty pageant agency in the country and instead formed her own team to train her.

The reason why she touches her hair is because it is part of the choreography and it is practiced for a year during her journey so she is training for muscle memory that is why she pulled it off naturally🥰

Nia I agree, her top 5 answer is spot on. Those countries mentioned legalised marijuana not just for medical use but also for recreational use as well. So she took a stand that shes up for medical use only. And since marijuana is readily available in those countries just like cigarettes and alcohol, thats why she said that if we are to argue, what about alcohol and cigarettes, i think we can take everything in moderation. 😉😉😉

Winning the MU for Catriona goes way back and is much more than her execution at MU. No doubt that she is overly prepared, well spoken, and beautiful. But, everything started the night she lost MW. That was a sour moment for her and the Filipino fans. She wanted to win and she needed to win, so she went for MU and killed it. Without a doubt her participation in MU was strategic and also with such a big fandom behind her, was hard not to expect her to win.
